Knowing that our stack will eventually be liquidated (by me or our kids or grandkids) at an LCS or other dealer at close to that future spot price, my criteria for silver stacking is weight & purity. Only a few collectible pieces.

Still, as inexpensive as bars are (with regard to premiums vs. coins), it's helpful to grab bars from mints with well-known names, or even an occasional vintage-name bar (like Engelhard) if you can snag a good deal.

I dont collect much high premium anything. Low cost silver for me.
When it comes time to sell I hear "Silver is Silver to me" so many times it just isnt worth it for me to pay a lot.
    New metal - Expensive
Secondary Market Metal - Slightly older, used, dinged up - Less Expensive
Vintage - Really old, beat to heck - Expensive again!
Isn't it funny though. The metal isn't affected, it is still just as good regardless of age or shape it's in.
I installed a Vintage Tag on my rear end... waiting for a collector.
    So far no takers. 😂

In my opinion when it comes to silver there is so many ways that work it just depends on your situation. Peer-to-peer vintage, collectibles,, low mintages, set runs. Generic low of the low to LCS, Pawn shops. It just depends on your situation who you know and where you're located at.Great video 🇺🇲🦅⚖️

If you can get 90% silver for a decent price, you can't go wrong with that...I picked up 56 1964 Quarters today. I've been stacking 90% since silver was $15 per ounce...back then you could get 90% at close to melt...I remember buying 90% Roosevelts on eBay for under melt back then. I have some 10 ounce bars myself, my favorite one is the Provident Prospector 10 ounce bar with the old timer miner and his mule beside him...they carry a premium nowadays. I guy in my area bought over 100 of those when silver was $15...I remember him paying $160ish each. They sell for $300-$370 each now on eBay.

I've been buying 90% lately for barter when SHTF later on this year. Sold almost all my generic a few weeks ago to pay for a cabin on my remote 10 acres. My wife pointed out that generic would only be effective barter with other stackers. 99% of people out there wouldn't put any value on it, but people know our coinage used to be silver. Mercury dimes in particular stand out as something old, cool, and comparatively valuable. Besides MD, I've got 90 silver quarters in a velvet bag, and LOVE the jingle they make.

It's the old stacking vs collector dilemma/trap. You know you shouldn't be buying high premium silver but you can't resist. If you buy high premium stuff, try to have at least a good chance that the collector stuff can hold it's higher premium value. Often, in order for you get the money back out of high premium silver you are going to have sell it person to person route.

I’m a firm believer that the cheapest bullion isn’t always the best bullion to stack. If generic buffalos are $1 above spot and engelhard or jm bars are $3 above spot, I’d take the vintage bars every time despite a 3x higher premium. I’m one of those types who is fixated on what he likes to collect and I will try to find a good value, but for me, silver is not just silver and the cheapest silver isn’t always the best silver to stack just like the most expensive silver isn’t always the best silver to stack.

I ask because I’ve never lost money on gold but with silver if I would to sell at the wrong time or purchase at the wrong time I could easily lose money. But with that said I’ve actually made great money on silver by buying at the lows and selling a few dollars higher in spot price.
I think many of us stackers make the mistake of buying at the wrong time . For me I believe in gold more then most stackers because I’m always in the green with gold but if silver is purchased at the right time it can be very rewarding. This is why I talk about changing up my stacking strategy so often on my channel. Because there’s definitely a wrong and right time to buy both . There definitely needs to be a bit of strategy and not buy out of FOMO .
There’s lots of stackers that believe only in silver and just purchase frivolously and I don’t believe that’s the right way to go about it .
I believe in metals I would of never saved as much as I have without it but there definitely is a respectable way to stack precious metal
It’s probably our responsibility to teach that .
Anyways thanks for the comment I truly appreciate it. I’m always open and interested in other’s experiences with precious metals . Cheers thanks
