Scooby Version 8 Fan Car - 15 years Old, But Still A Scorcher Up Genting / YS Khong Driving

- Finally we got a fan who let us have a go up our favorite mountain in his Subaru STi Version 8. It is about 15 years old, but still has a lot of go.
Of course it is a manual, with a 6-speed gearbox - it has a bit of minor stuff done to it, the most significant one being the blow-off valve, as we can all hear from the video.
Other than that, plus a few hoses here and there to increase reliability, the engine and car are pretty much stock.
After driving the car, I can now understand how the Scooby can do so well in rallies. It is very well set-up and takes all the corners with ease.
I tried to fit a foot cam, but the two-way tape for the camera mount wouldn't stick (I think there was some silicone sprayed onto the plastic cover under the steering. Sorry about that but you can still stee some footwork from the rear-mounted camera.)

Can really see the owner's passion and his enthusiasm in honing driving skills. He's all smiles during bends and if I'm mot wrong, he's also observing Uncle's footwork, gear position and speed used.

1st it was a shame we are not able to see yr footwork on this drive and secondly the sheer sound of the engine was fantastic . Lovely to see coordinated orchestrated gear shift at corners .. just thrilling ! Well done Uncle and i am sure your passenger will thank you for valueable money cant buy experience

for those asking what happens to the blowoff sound, it seems the car was not making any boost already after 3:50 mark. look at the rightmost gauge of the central 3 gauges. it's no longer moving. most probably ruptured or disconnected hose
the loud hissing noise around 9:43 and various other marks supports the above. the turbine was overspinning
There was definitely boost.
probably BOV vaccum hose disconnected at the T joint.. also probably shared by the boost gauge as well.. hence no reading of that boost gauge and no more sqv sound midway of the video
@@AmirPomenyes sir, as simple as that, it will still have boost just no reading, can hear all the fluttering still just bcos BOV is no longer working
After a while the BOV sound is somewhat annoying. It does sound addictive when wot but hillclimb driving I personally would just keep the stock bov so they are not as noisy. Love the sound still!

uncle it's actually older than that. it seems to be a Version 8 GDB-C which was produced in 2002 and 2003 😉 in 2004 it was updated to GDB-D
