The thing that never gets mentioned in these reviews is just how neutral the handling is, with only the tiniest indication of understeer on a constant throttle. The Forester in comparison I found to understeer quite heavily. Go into a corner on a trailing throttle with the XV then power out and it really handles well. I bought a 2022 one. It's very impressive.

The first time I drove my new XV in 2015 to Genting for a meeting. My colleague who drove his own car behind me told me later that he saw me disappeared after that turn in from Karak and he simply couldn't catch up when I waited for him at the hotel parking.... I still remember that part till this day. PS: I am still driving the same old XV and it really "tahan" until this days with a few minor problems only..
Thanks for the heart thingy. I really enjoyed watching the video because of the joy I saw, and the skill. Ended up here because I'm about to buy one of these, a 2021 XV.
I bought the first launched XV in 2013. One of the best handling and exciting cars I’ve ever owned. Subaru is the most mechanically centered Japanese auto builder around. Unfortunately, the sole distributor Motor Image is killing the brand. Poor after sales service, low technically knowledgeable staff and bad spare parts inventory are only some of the few frustrations in owning such a fine piece of machinery. I sadly gave it up after a few agonizing years dealing with the distributor. BTW, I also own a Forester in Australia and the dealerships here are poles apart when it comes to responsibility and quality of service.
So sorry you had a bad experience. Well, the good news is that it is now 9 years later, and things have improved. The ownership experience is much better now.
Hi Uncle, looks fun to drive and that awd should be a great advantage. You did a review of a mazda cx30 going through ulu yam. How do you compare CX30's ride and handling and cornering ( with it's GVC) to the XV?... and which would be your pick if you had to buy one?🤗
The CX30 awd is also an awesome vehicle, but will cost a bit more. Of course the trim level is also higher and if I could afford it I would go for the CX. If budget is my issue, I would look at the XV too.
You have named all the top contenders for an SUV in this class. Each has its good points, so just choose the one that you like the most. Some people ask their wives or girlfriends - that works too.😀
Uncle, I see ur driving is stable everything, corner, acceleration, brake.. but which model is recommended among 150k? Suba XV, Hond HR-V, Maz CX-5 or Toyo Cross? In term of Comfortable, Maintenance, Petrol efficiency, Second value..
Great Video uncle YS! Question though, 1. How’s the sound system of the car when playing music? Since it is important for us car commuters on daily basis. 2. How’s the fuel economy? Not referring to Subaru’s figures but rather the real world fuel consumption.
Sound system is moderate quite okay tp me. Fuel consumption depends on how you drive. You can expect around 10 or 11 liters per 100 km if you drive normally.

Hey, would be great if you could do an updated drive with the Forester. You last tested it in 2019 with this same 2.0 engine. Would love to get your opinion on the 2.5 version. Thank you🙏

Mr YS, want to ask honest opinion. Between Subaru xv GT and Peugeot 3008 , which one when you drive to genting, give u more excitement during cornering , and straight line? Hope u can help me to choose
The XV is known for its Symmetrical AWD system, which as you can see in my video about the car, provides excellent traction and grip. In slippery conditions the XV would be very good. In dry conditions, the 3008 with its turbocharged engine will provide more fun in driving through the higher torque, and will probably be faster and jist as agile. Each has its own good points, and in terms of looks, the 3008 looks way prettier.
If you can do a Genting drive test for CX5 2.0 variant I would definitely appreciate it! I am stuck of the choice between this XV and CX-5 2.0 variant.
