    most underrated tip that is hardly ever taught growing up, and it’s something that almost every elite scorer uses constantly. like if you never thought to look for it, you’d never notice but i promise you if you watch an nba game, the best players do it all the time. basketball is a contact sport and as long as you aren’t over the top with it, you’ll never get called for an offensive foul.

    Awesome content. I used this today against a guy who was sticking his arm out on defense and it allowed me to quickly get in front and hold my position to prevent his recovery. Question what are other alternatives for guys to score that think these are offensive fouls? Because i see a lot of people complaining about it, even though they're incorrect, but never have an alternative just an unthoughtful answer and an emotional argument. Also many coaches fail to teach this stuff and kill players confidence because they're constantly turning over the basketball and not able to find success. The coaches scream fundamentals, yet won't teach this concept. The concept behind the off arm swipe is to keep your body between you and the defender. That's one of the first fundamental concepts you learn when you first start playing basketball. Also this is the way to do one move and go, not just blow by defenders like a deer in the headlights and end up in the ER with a concussion or broken nose because your coach says go strong to the rim and lets players go through your body.

No wonder why I couldn't create contact or use my off arm. Especially for small guards if you don't make that contact you'll lose everytime. That small detail is a life changer

      You don't want to stick your hands out either. When I am on defense I try to back up and keep 1 hand at an angle where I can contest his shot. I try to use what Marcus Smart does which is get to space while forcing the offensive player to go wide and quickly get in front of him and back in a defensive stance. The off arm is so effective that you can still get caught by it no matter what you do if the guy you're guarding can really hoop.

      Yes, just close the gap on between you and the defender and get yourself in front to prevent him from recovering. I am pretty sure you do that and the off arm swipe can make this happen automatically. Refs only see it if you have tons of space and you're like holding the defender's wrist like you're about to break it.

    @marcussteele2385 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Frikki, if you come back to this video I need to know... what contact is a foul with off arm contact? In basically every rulebook, NFHS, NCAA FIBA, NBA... all of them basically say the same thing: , no holding, no pushing, no hooking, fiba even says you can't protect the ball w off arm... basically ANYTHING that displaces the defender with your off arm is illegal. Obviously this isn't true, you see in every game players hand checking and off arm swiping on every play, so I'm just wondering where you think the line is drawn between like incidental contact and fouls with the off arm... maybe it just has to look natural?🙏

    • @CoachFrikki
      @CoachFrikki  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every situation is different. Swipes and seals I would never personally call. I would call
      1) Hooks after spins if you extend your arm and touch your opponents back.
      2) Grabs, when you grab and hold your opponents arm above his elbow
      3) Push offs where extend your arm and put some force into it.
      But like I said every situation is different and has to be judged individually. The rulebook says one thing but what refs call is something else.

    Could you do 1v1 moves on bigger players?

    • @DavidHall-zo8eg
      @DavidHall-zo8eg 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes that's the best time to use it. It negates their size advantage and allows you to get in front and get an easy path to the rim. Just make sure once you use the off arm swipe to get them on your hip and keep yourself directly in front of them so they can't recover and get the block or take away your angle at the rim. In this video the offensive player is constantly closing the gap between himself and the defender, not getting in front and then sprinting to where he thinks space is.

      Swiping, i understand but i feel like grabbing onto the defenders arm with your offhand should be an offensive foul lol

    • @DavidHall-zo8eg
      @DavidHall-zo8eg 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SeedOilFitnessOfficial Swiping is less likely to get called because you're only using it for a split second to get in front. You're not as hands-on once you get past him and you're simply seen as controlling your space. The off arm is definitely needed when dealing with the hand check. If defenders should be allowed to lock their hands on to your waist, then you should be allowed to physically remove his hand. People like to say that they want physical defense like the 90s, but whine about the off hand giving the offensive player the advantage when hand checking and bumping gives defenders a significant advantage over the offensive player.

    Is arm bar with off hand while driving legal?

    • @DavidHall-zo8eg
      @DavidHall-zo8eg 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes it's legal. However, I don't recommend it if you're a smaller player and the defender is stronger than you. He can absorb it, and force you off your line. If you do use the arm bar to hold the defender off do it similar to the arm swipe, or extend just a little bit or enough to where the stronger defender can't override. But the arm swipe is better because it's a quick arm bar that immediately wipes the defender out the picture and allows you to physically keep your body in front.

    • @DavidHall-zo8eg
      @DavidHall-zo8eg 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can use the arm bar, just try not to extend too far because it can look like a push off or turn into a push off. Push offs are legal if you keep your off arm tight to your body once you create space with it. An extended push off is an offensive foul because it shows the ref that you have lost control of the situation, and it becomes a shove or a forearm shiver.

      If it works it's the most effective. But it's the toughest one to pull off, and the most likely to get called for a foul.

      Grab is illegal but if defender tries to come in to your personal space, you have all rights to swipe hand off. And ref usually doesn’t call it cuz when you run, your arm will naturally swing. If you try to reach and grab defenders arm to swipe it, that is going to be offensive foul.

      He should be the last person talking about an offensive foul, when he literally grabs and impedes the offensive player's movement on defense. He constantly shoves guys when they go up in the paint.

      Defense is allowed to initiate some contact. Defense is allowed to initiate some contact too.
      It's a contact sport.

      In terms of rule if defense starts any contact they'd get called for a foul and sometimes defense gets called for a foul even when offense is the one that started it prob why people r so *bad* at defense cuz they ain't allowed to play it
