Jon id go as far as saying even if you use cpi to just cool things down, overall this is still adding fuel to the system, because of this it will effect stft and fuel trims for every cylinder, the ecu is going to slightly pull some fuel out of all of the di's because its seeing a change in stft. In doing this because the cpi meth isnt evenly distributed, and the ecu is pulling fuel out of all 6 cylinders, but 1 and 5 arent getting the same extra fuel that the sensors are loging on lambda, we only have 1 bank to go off of meaning all 6 cylinders are adjusted based off the one reading. This will still cause a leaner scenario in those few cylinders, even if not spraying "to add more fuel for power"

That's same as I play the classic mini cooper 10+ years, from the stock mini cooper engine upgraded to stage 3 at 1430cc do on. Alot of mistake and spend alot of money for the parts bought from UK, EBay, Japan. We keep learning to hit the goal, but its fun yeah. Even in Malaysia, we don't have much the professional Mechanics & tools. Just try our best, enjoy the fun dude. Well, even I'm planning to get a f30 328i, maybe on 2022, and mod it exactly as same as what u do all for the car. The 3.0 wrap colour I already get contacted with the same dealership to order the same code same colour courier to Malaysia. Let see once I done it, keep in touch yeah!
I hope you see this :) I lost my engine in my F30 to a bad detonation. It sucked and I've spent a year rebuilding it twice. Some things I learned are that some of the BMW engines use cast aluminum Pistons that don't handle heat very well, so I reached out to CP Carrillo and they made some custom order forged aluminum pistons for me. I ended up buying a brand new cylinder head, but I would recommend sending your cylinder head to somebody to have it reinforced. The valvetronic systems in these engines don't handle increase power very well either. I sleeved my engine block and all it did was weaken the block to a point where it cracked on the first time startup. I hope those little tidbits of information are helpful, please don't hesitate to message me directly if you have questions I've spent a year rebuilding these BMW engines
So I've been waiting for a month for a quote on an engine build. It's been frustrating. I do not want to do another stock engine and end up in the same place. So I'm doing the build. I wasn't even in a high boost map, nor full throttle, and I'm so fanatical about maintenance. Everyone is surprised it happened the way it did. But hey... Moving forward, and excited for what it will be. Just sucks that this process is going to take so long. Driving the wife's VW is just not the same. Lol. You always do it right bro. Bro, seriously happy for you given this unfortunate situation. I was looking on Copart trying to find a low milage trashed 340XI or equivalent with low milage and untouched front end that you could salvage the engine from. I am so pleased you found this motor. Genuinely happy for you bro. I had my own experience with a blown motor and was absolutely gutted. I was left a Dode Ram by my father when he passed (we went together to buy it brand new, was the first vehicle he ever bought himself brand new, he had bought my mother several). This truck was absolutely babbied by my dad. Not too long after I had the truck it started having issues where it would randomly cut off while driving. Three dealerships later, different parts replaced they said was the issue and claimed it was 100% fixed ($3,000 later) truck would still cut out. One day I started it and I could hear bearing whining, clearly coming from the alternator. I swapped the alternator myself and bam it was 100% fixed for ($140). I drove it around for nearly a year enjoying it. Still treating it like a baby with just under 50k miles at the time, driving down 521 excelerating from a light out of nowhere sounded like a bomb went off under the truck, threw a rod, blew a bog hole in bottom of the block (babbied truck with 48k miles on it) turns out the oil pump completely failed stopping all oil flow, engine imploded. I was not mad but, sad and absolutely guted. As far as finding a house, look in remote areas of Union County, Waxhaw, even Monroe on West side closer to Waxhaw. Decent deals to be found on smaller homes not in HOA, leaves you close to Charlotte via 16, 521, 74 and a little closer to SC, GA, FL. Good luck with everything bro, definitely will be watching in support 🙏

You have the right approach, and I respect you’re backing your guys. From what you said it sounds like the turbo was seized, then just starting it caused a lot of back pressure. It seems small, but that back pressure would cause a lot of stress on bearings and the rest of the internals, really quickly without even pushing the engine. I don’t think it was the engine, I think it was a freak thing with the turbo. Imagine the engine not being able to push exhaust out and still putting air and fuel in. Anyway, keep on doing your thing!!!

@@hasan_440i I believe luxury line if i’m not wrong it’s only about interior trims and seats and all those premium details, the Power kit its an increase in horse power, and the gains are around 50hp more than the stock from factory! You can also get MPPSK which is the ECU tune but they will also install a new exhaust system!
i am going through the same thing right now. my 340 engine blew at 66k and ended up replacing the engine with one from an m240ix with 5k miles. hopefully itll last 60k before blowing again.

Been there done that, had to rebuild my A7 TFSI engine 6 months after I bought the car. Now I have a "basically new" engine in my car so it's all good.

I feel you on the housing prices in NC. We moved to Winston Salem from the Midwest a couple years ago. Everything we looked at was priced double the assessment value. I know the Raleigh Durham area is one of the top real estate markets in the US right now. Charlotte is right up there as well.

I feel like the previous owner traded it in for that reason. The best thing that happen is that the knock started before the car was modded heavily. Because then the “what happen? Why it happen “ scenario starts. Keep up the good attitude brother.

I think you should put the built engine in the 340xi since it will definitely be able to put that big turbo power down. If you get the e30 and decide to b58 swap it you should put the stock engine your going to be getting into it since I think it would be able to hold the lower hp of the stock engine better then slapping a built engine with a massive turbo and have no traction. This is my opinion ofc and i believe in doing whatever you want with your car. I will definitely be watching and enjoying the content
bro so i have an f90 m5 for starters iv blown a few previous m motors just a little info bmw engines have glass ass rods before tuning a bmw rebuild the engine with as much forged material as possible for your engine REMEMBER:bulletproof the engine then start tuning
Maybe the previous owner had motor honey to take up the bearing gap, reducing the rod knock it already had, and you took out the thick af motor honey. I've seen people run a few bottles of the stuff, and make rod knock disappear! That's where I'm at... you changed the oil, making it thin as it should be, and by doing so allowed the huge gap to make noise in the bearing... that's my professional opinion/guess. I'm a BMW mechanic. I own 5 bmws. Sucks this happened to you. I'm glad you were able to score a low mileage setup. I'm definitely looking forward to the teardown on the damage. If you need any advice, it's all I do. Been driving a fbo 335i forever, I'm at 220k miles and I put most the miles on it. And still spanking the competition!

Literally the same thing happened to me, I have a 2014 328i and ended up getting rod knock also, now I'm trying to decide whether to swap in a newer N20 engine into the F30 or buy an e36
I just went through a similar situation the dealership I bought my bmw hid a huge issue with the cooling it never got to temp and had no heater they would not do anything so I ended up spending thousands more sux
can say ive personally dealth with straightsix and they came in clutch. I had the similar engine problems blew through a piston and my turbo on my 2018 340i and was able to get a 22k miler b58 from straight six in less then a month and have zero problems!

I only went up to stage 2 on my STi and left it as is. Sold the car and got a 340

My 2018 340i B58 blew just like that @12k miles, BMW replaced the engine under warranty. Seems like It's a manufacturer defect.

Literally the same thing happened to me, I have a 2014 328i and ended up getting rod knock also, now I'm trying to decide whether to swap in a newer N20 engine into the F30 or buy an e36

I just went through a similar situation the dealership I bought my bmw hid a huge issue with the cooling it never got to temp and had no heater they would not do anything so I ended up spending thousands more sux

can say ive personally dealth with straightsix and they came in clutch. I had the similar engine problems blew through a piston and my turbo on my 2018 340i and was able to get a 22k miler b58 from straight six in less then a month and have zero problems!
