I bought a e90 330i manual, blimming rare now, with the n52b30 in it at 164000 miles, 2 years ago. Last year after converting to a proper track day car, it gone a 1200mile trip to Nuremberg including 10 hard laps, and home trouble free, absolutely love it n52b30❤
164,000 KMs on N52 B30 and still going strong. Everything is still factory other than a new water pump and thermostat. Built to last for sure. Still has the original solenoids.
So glad I found this channel. Thanks for the great content Dean. I know I'm gonna have to shell out a bit to keep my N52 as good as it is right now. You said something in one video about guys who come to BMWs from Japanese cars and get a bit of a shock at having to actually maintain a car properly.... That's me. 8 years out of a 94 Honda Accord with the 22B engine and it never let me down once... ever. 5 years out of a Hyundai Tiburon with the 2.7 V6 and pretty much the same thing. Oil changes and the likes and that was it. I'm not put off by any means now I'm in a BMW. It's the best car I've ever owned and I think I want to keep it that way. All the money I saved over all those years driving Japanese and Korean I can now pour into a European car that I picked up cheap.... Wait.... Waaaaat?😂 Nah... Seriously man. Love my car. Love the channel. Thank you.

2007 530i N52B30, 106k miles, headers + full exhaust, stage 2 Bimmworks tune, stage 3 xHP tune, 7200 rpm limit, i beat on the car every day and it hasn't skipped a beat. Only code I've gotten was for O2s. Insanely good
2007 X3 N52N with 370,000Km and works as new, I change my oil (5w-40) every 5000Km. That's the key, clean oil at all times. My last car 1996 328i had M54 with over 500,000Km and pulled like new, never had vanos problems, changed oil every 5000Km (3000 miles).
2011 X3 F25 N52 with 170k miles. I’ve owned about 6 bmws over the years and this is hands down the absolute best vehicle I have owned. Use only Liquimoly special tech oil every 5k miles, replaced the front and rear differential fluid, transmission and transfer case oil, and runs extremely smooth. Don’t skimp and use only Liquimoly special tech LL oil and Mann filter. Incredible engineering and will likely get another 100k easily. Cheers and God Bless!!

I give her the maintenance when needed..i will never sell it and I'll always take care of it... ive had it for almost 4 years now. I got it at 140,000 miles and its now at 180,000 miles, I will drive it till the wheels fall off! and when that happens I'll fix it and drive it again 😊 the N52 is an amazing engine! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Hi, Bmw doctor I owned n52b30 engine 525i 2006 model. Recently I replaced my pcv valve but still my oil consumption will be there....I really love this car I'm using 5w-40 motul engine oil Im here in UAE.....This car 105,000km on the clock
Yes your are a master mechanic and thanks to your channel never clean a vanos solinoid yes they are priceee it's a bmw expect this 🎉🎉they sell for $250 - $369 only need two and the cam sensors seem to hang in there not to many issues with that part also the disa flaps stay away from ebay on parts relating to engine
My BMW E60 2.5i is now now nearly 19 years old it’s only done 91 thousand miles and runs fantastic since I bought it in 2017 and since that all I’ve had to replace is electric water pump vanos solenoids and the oil filter housing gasket’s an a set of springs I change oi and filter every 4 months
150k on my current M54B25 and I still love it, especially now with custom built exhaust single pipe - sounds amazing N52 I am observing cars with those as if for whatsoever reason I need to change my current car, probably next one will be something with M54 successor 🎉
I have my e90 330i MT with 400 000km yesterday and it still goes strong as hell. New timing chain, waterpump, disa. Im just start to be bit scary from pistons… i dont know what mileage they can take 😅👍 Love my e90 🖤
Owned a 330i m sport for just over a year and I still love the way it drives and sounds. It's on 135,000 miles now. It has had or has a small oil leak as I can see some oil on some areas of the engine but it doesnt drop any on the floor. Its tough to see where its coming from so I was wondering if getting the engine bay cleaned may show if its still a problem or old leak? whats the advice in this situation? how can identify where its coming from? thanks
I have two N52's one with 165,000 miles in a 528xi and 124,000 in X5 the seem great and my daily driver is 2005 M54 X5 with 243,000 running strong (hoping for 300k miles) has been a great motor if N52 last longer than that it will be awesome
I just lost my N52. At 363,000 miles, a bolt broke holding the timing chain idler sprocket. This allowed the chain to slip off of one of the cams. Otherwise, this engine would have gone another 150,000 miles, I suspect. I lost it all over a $1.24 machined steel bolt, yes a bolt.
@@Bmwguy2011 hi, I just bought one with 421000 km. Could you please specify unfortunate bolt. Any ideas what I should do with this engine straight away to keep it running until half million at least? Thank you in advance.
Mine is e92 330i on 90k and still strong af. Started whining when I pull away tho .. I’m thinking the auto transmission need service or the diff? What you think Dean?
166k miles on my 130i and she runs well. Occasionally on a cold start I get a lumpy idle and you can almost feel the car shaking, and throttle response is poor, and low end torque isn't there. No codes and it clears after turning the car off and on again.... Any ideas? I also bought it with an oil catch can fitted rather than the standard oil seperator. Any advantages/disadvantages I need to be aware of? I plan to keep the car for a long time so I'm slowly getting though all the jobs that these need.
I Got a bit of a rough idle with shake on a warm start for a few seconds, then goes away. It’s on a 135k, new solenoids, coils and smoke tested ok. Any ideas?
@freewill7675 Hello, check your VANOS non-return valves, they are located on the right side of the cylinder head, in the Vanos area, check your STFT trim, it should be close to 0%, if it's like 10%, there's a vaccuum leak, also, check your PCV valve's efficiency, it could be letting in oil droplets in yourintake and oil creates misfires in gas engines.
my 2006 e90 325i (N52b30) with the m sport package has 335k km on the odo. My car has had many owners. I bought it two years ago with 295k km and it’s had a rough life unfortunately. I think it sat in a field or something with weight in the trunk because the rear was super low. The front jacking points are also rusted out. I did what I could to fix it up. I probably spent too much money trying to fix it but whatever. I made a mistake of not getting someone to look at the car more thoroughly before I purchased it and decided to send it. At first I did not care because I wanted it to be my winter daily when I drove my BRZ in the summer. Turns out I enjoyed daily driving it so decided to put in the $ and work to fix it. I went to the junk yard to replace the rear shocks and grabbed a new to me ac compressor. The previous owner had deleted AC I’m guessing since the bearings were shot. I fixed that and got a new belt and tensioner. I got some brand new AC lines as well. To me it looked like my car hadn’t had a working compressor in years… Also ended up replacing the radiator to fix a coolant leak. O2 sensors after the cats were replaced just to finally get rid of a code on the dash. I had to use an occupancy sensor delete kit on the passenger side since it wasn’t working and I didn’t want my passenger to die 😅. I bought the car for 2k Canadian and ended up putting like 3k plus my time into it. Now I have a running car that is a bit rusty but running excellent for now. The engine runs so smooth and I love the sound of it. It really is a pleasure to drive with the 6 speed manual. Love it and will keep it as long as I can. The only “issue” if you can call it that is that I am having a bit of oil burning after about 1000km from a fresh change. 1/4 of a quart or there about lost. Maybe this is normal? I figured since the car is high mileage that it could be the piston rings creating some blow by. I don’t see any oil on the pavement… yet. Oil changes every 5000km.
Can you please give me some advice. Two years ago, I bought a 2003 E65 7-Series with only 27,000 miles on it, the car has been fantastic , is there anything I need to be aware of?
I’m driving a 2001 3 series with the m 54 it runs ok has roughly 260k and has a problem I can’t figure out the best way to explain it is at about 40 miles per hour it has a burping sound and it seems to come from the rear end but it effects the RPMs if you have any input would be appreciated
Hello doc, thanks for the vid, i bought e90 n52b30 like 3 months ago i love working on bmw i have e46 touring as well. The car has been very good to me i changed the well known stuffs like oil housing gasket, vanos gaskets and more. But i had a few trips around 500 miles and i noticed the oil level droped one below the half and it was full when i started. At first i thought it might be because i changed all those gaskets and didnt add some oil but thats a lot of oil just from that. I topped it and i had one trip around 250 miles and today i checked the oil level and it was a little bet below the max line. So my question is where do you think the problem is, im thinking of replacing the ccv, i will go on a lift tmrw or when i have free time to check if it is leaking heavy from the oil pan but i dont think this is the case, more like its burning so thats why im thinking ccv. Whats your opinion and what brand ccv should i buy oem or some well known german brands. Tanks a lot!!!
Another 💯🔥 video, I have a quick question, my 08 328xi automatic gm transmission code 565A oil- pressure sensor A: volume to high , transmission fluid pressure switch A high- input, hard to find the exact meaning of this, small research the little round orange laminate disc in the valve body 1 or 2 might be torn , first two gears is really hard shift, these discs are known to break, I trust your opinion , 🔥💯
I have this engine in my 525 had it since 2006, has over 200,000 miles. Please if anybody knows how to fix the radio the navigation screen and the radio are both out, I hear it’s something to do with the CCC?Any information would be helpful.

I had both and find the 530i more user friendly and drivable everyday with enough power the M5 is too much as a daily and too much power for the roads it’s unusable
@ thanks for sharing this Dean, it’s appreciated very much. Last one, would you get the pre? Or post facelift? Version of the e60 530i? I’m looking at two right now and I’m not sure which to get. Any suggestions? Thanks for your tine Dean, big shoutout to all the #N52Fam out there!! Happy holidays everyone, drive safe 🎄🙌🏾🔥🤎✊🏽💯
If you change the 2 disa inlet manifold with a "performance" inlet manifold, those without disa flap. How will this engine work with this so called performance inlet manifold
Great video Dean! I just recently purchased a 2009 x3, xdrive 3.0i, and like you I am going to change everything on it. The engine runs great at 145138km. After all the maintenance is over with I’m expecting it to run well for years to come. N52 Fam have a wonderful holiday and drive safe!! 🙌🏾🤎✊🏽🔥🎄💯😁
forget the new plastic garbage..82,000 kms and only done rear brakes and ignition coils...bulletproof NA formula, worked in every application but i love my 2011 e90 N52B30
M47 is also very reliable; 120d 163BHP. I had remap to 300lb-ft at 44K to 158K miles. Took it off recently to keep the ZF 6HP19 going...Sounds a bit agricultural but it's a true workhorse. I have 987.2 Boxster PASM + DSC v1, PDK, Sport Chrono, Sport Seats, 19" Sport Design alloys and thankfully no bore-scoring I think the non S models are free of that curse as well the Gen 1 IMS & RMS issues...

Also wanted to say it has 130 thousand miles on it running like new.
What would be the diesel equivalent? Thanks
When was the n52 b30 discontinued? I own a 2005 130i with n52 pretty sure it is b30 but want to be 100%. Cheers.
210k N51 Running strong but, misfire code on #5, and getting 12mpg city. (I suspect it's been tuned, but I'm not sure. Impressively quick, idles fine)
Can you please give me some advice. Two years ago, I bought a 2003 E65 7-Series with only 27,000 miles on it, the car has been fantastic , is there anything I need to be aware of?
178k on mine💪🏽💪🏽
I have android screen retrofitted
See if you can find a refurbished CCC module. I had my module replaced. Rather expensive though
I have a n52 328I convertible it has 120,000 me here in Miami and I push it hard and all it does is run all I do is just keep changing the oil it's a 2012 328i and 52
N52 makes me a little jealous as an M54 guy, but I’m currently at 246k and still going strong God willing
Mine e70 is 240k and i like it 😊
Like OCD like me… lmfao I hear you Doc
What about N47 engine ?
😭😭😭 no dude deffinetely not it’s diesel
@BMWDoctor not long bought the N47 engine and heard it's a bad BMW to buy
I have to ask Dean, would you take the e60 530i or go after the M5 version?? Thanks again. ✊🏽💯
Any chance to get your tune?
Happy N52 E63 Manual Owner here🦈
Had one in my Z4…
N52B30 215.000 KMS no problems 👍
my e83 x3 hit 225k on my way to work
I keep getting increased battery charge which intern I have to reset my clock every time I put the key in the ignition
bad battery or something is draining it so it cut the power to circuits
New battery needed or clean the battery terminals/clamps. Good luck.
How can you tell which one b25 or b30?
For N52 then 323, 325, 23i, 25i are B25's. 328, 330 28i, 30i, 30si are B30's. N53's are all B30.
@@petera8665 There is also a N53B25 in the E60 523i LCI.
How reliable are the n51s (2011 328i xdrive)
Yes ! Right behind m50, m52 and m54 :)
Never 👎
@BMWDoctor always doctor, always
@@nikolastijelja9796 nothing beats M54/M57. Best engines.

M30 and M20 e30 and e34 both over 150k on the clocks. Respect your elders laddies.

If u replace new parts every month
Then any car will reliable
You think the N52 is better than the M54 found in the E46
Althouhg it's true the B30 is more reliable than the B25, I'm taking my N52B25AE over an N53, N54, N55, or god forbids, N47 every day of the week
N52 better than M52? 🤔
333xxx km :)
Hm..I got 300.000 on my mini N16.ms prissy.
forget the new plastic garbage..82,000 kms and only done rear brakes and ignition coils...bulletproof NA formula, worked in every application but i love my 2011 e90 N52B30

No engine survives a woman driver hitting your car.
here in USA the N52 engine is considered the worse BMW naturally aspirated inline 6 engine ever.
What do you think it’s better
nahh they are great! I've seen many with 250k-300k miles on them! mine has 180k and the last time iv'e had to fix anything was around 9 months ago!
Who fool said that🤣
@@HakenE30 lol I'm really starting to wonder if you really live in the states now cause it's the direct opposite most people myself included love the N52 and recommend it cause it is a tank and bulletproof everyone literally praises it along with the B58 the engine everyone in the states talk about not liking is the N54 despite it's nice performance it's a ticking time bomb.
I keep getting increased battery charge which intern I have to reset my clock every time I put the key in the ignition
@@gazzagazza1000 pretty sure you need to register the battery to your car . Or check the battery terminals ,make sure it’s tight .
