Awesome videos! This is helping me configure WSUS in my workcenter. Question: If I set my Target Group as my domain will that target all the machines under it vs actually putting in the computer groups as the targets? And then, if I do the same with the GPO, will that target everything I need it to?

@@QuantumByteHub There is no master/slave domain controller. But we can say there is still Primary and secondary domain controller. If your DC holds all the five FSMO roles then it is primary DC. But you can place and plan the FSMO roles. You can assign few roles to your secondary DC as well base on the requirement of specific role.

You can configure local group policy settings to direct client computers to use WSUS for Windows updates. You can use registry entries as well, but it can be quite challenging.
@@MSFTWebCast Yes, i enabled " specify intranet Microsoft updates location "i entered wsus url. That computer appeared in the wsus console. when i right clicked on it to change membership so i could add it to the computer group but " the change membership" is greyed out.i deleted the computer buf unable to re add it.
this is just adding the replicate server, try to add different client in the different location or firewall.

It will take some time but you can use wuauclt /detectnow, wuauclt /reportnow or USOClient.exe command to force client computers to report to WSUS server.

one by one on each pc we need to detect and add ?
I used command wuauclt /detectnow and /reportnow to force computer to contact WSUS server instantly. In real world it will contact automatically within day or two.

Note : Server should not restart in weekdays due to patch update
You can configure those settings in group policy. From group policy you can specify when to install update, when to restart or ask user to restart.
Hello, if I approve all updates, does the member server still only download just the required updates for itself from the WSUS server, or will it try to install all approved updates?
No only required updates.

Tony, Sometime computers will take time to show up in WSUS console. But you can force computer to report WSUS server using "wuauclt /detectnow" and "wuauclt /reportnow" command. Create a .bat file with those commands and run no client machines to force machines to contact WSUS right now.
