Queens has always been my number one choice but I've been doing a lot of research about the residence (bc its really important to me) and I started to doubt it. Now your video really helped with knowing what life might actually be like there:)

we both have single rooms! the size of a single varies from res to res but i did a dorm tour for mine if u check out my videos

Hey! Kingston is my hometown. I now live in Toronto attending Humber college. I also used to work at queens university, cleaning the dorm rooms during the summer 👎🏼 I used to go to Stages night club & The Spot EVERY WEEKEND when I was 19.

I'm glad you are enjoying your time here but, only take issue with one thing. Yes, there are students everywhere! Hooray! but, no, it is not "your town" only by a long shot. There are people who have lived here for decades that are very happy you are here but, it is their home too. Geez! I host international students, live one block from campus and it's our city too. lol...if you don't mind. I also sometimes put up a notice to make home-cooked meals for students(for free! to a limit) and occasionally host hot pot nights.

Dining hall options are really hit or miss, imo. I don't know about West, but Ban Righ and Leonard start to get bland after awhile because they keep recycling the same menu options over and over.
If you're in arts, you'll definitely have way more free time than your engineering peers, but the bulk of your time will be spent on readings (which most people don't even do). Engineers are basically in class from the morning until late afternoon/evening and barely have any time to squeeze in lunch.

Where did u go to high school, I'm an international student but I went to a Canadian high school which the app was easy for me to apply because a lot of things were all set for us what do u want to know?
i don’t think i would be the best person to do that because i’m not an international student!

There’s a whole tab (on the top right) on the website called Applying As An International Student. But basically you have to apply with the OUAC 105 and other than that the application isn’t much different. You do have to somehow send your transcripts (report cards) and have them translated by a certified Ontario translator and there’s a few things about your school that are different in the application. But other than that you have to also do you PSE.

my cegep experience was fine but i didnt want to stay for two years, so i applied to queens after one year. my transcript got sent in with no issues, and im really happy i did this

congrats!! depends what you like to do... there's an amazing pier, enough shopping places, lots of good restaurants, clubs... it's pretty diverse I would say

I don't go to queens but Ive lived in Kingston my whole life. Overall its a really nice size town with a good amount of stuff to do. Theres lots of parks and restaurants and great water access. It is however notoriously not diverse. From what i have witnessed and heard, there is quite a big racism problem at queens. If u are interested go look at the stolenbysmith instagram page, they have some interesting ideas as well as a collection of personal stories from university students
@@j5p4 what about racism towards muslim people? (i'm indian, specifically) i wear a hijab and am super scared i'll have to face a lot of issues from other people due to that
@@j5p4 I'm sorry, but that's a terrible take.
I was born and raised in Canada (and am still a Canadian citizen) and even though I was too young to wear a hijab back then, plenty of other people I knew did (including my mother). You assume because I'm wearing my hijab I'm going to be constantly talking about my religion and separating myself from others, but you're wrong. Or maybe you assumed that because you did, but I'm not you either and obviously if I have any amount of sense I'm not going to bring up my religion at all, otherwise that's all anyone will see me as. The hijab is just a cloth on my head that I wear because I want to. I won't ever stop wearing it.
You willingly changed yourself, but you didn't have to. The fact you quit watching anime and stopped wearing your crucifix when that's something pretty common in Canada (especially the anime... like what?!) just because you were desperate to fit in is... sad.
When I moved to India, I /was/ the "western person". I only knew western culture and people were curious, but definitely welcoming and kind too.
I know there are places in Canada that are not kind to hijabis, but there are dozens more that are welcoming. I just wanted to know if QueensU is one of them.

Was it hard to get into queens? Specially when you’re a first year student in CEGEP? I just moved to Quebec and I’m confused with this education system. I just want to go study business at queens and I don’t want to spend 2 years of my life in CEGEP (one is enough, I just want to graduate like the rest of my friends 😭)

How are the double loft rooms, and what residences have them? Wana save money but don't wana live on west campus
i'm pretty sure only vic hall has them, & i don't really know people's opinions... one of my friends is in one and i think he finds it a bit cramped and annoying waking up at different times but you know what you've signed up for and do save a LOT of money

I’m in a double loft and it’s great! I got lucky and me and my roommate get along well but overall you save a good amount which is completely worth it (around 7 thousand compared to other living options)
How do you make friends and attend parties as a transfer student
i wasn’t a transfer student, but i assume you meet people in classes and be very outgoing and you’ll find your people in no time!

you can request roommates for a double/triple/quad if you put that type of room as your first choice and your roommates do as well. if you put single first, you can’t request

no! people do, but there's no "social consequence" if you don't

no curfew or dress code! and you have a good amount of free time

i'm honestly not sure which residences have stoves - most people only use the microwave at most because queen's has such a great meal plan

It depends on the program, but both are generally pretty good!

Hey! Ik none of u are in Vic hall but I was wondering if they have kitchens like the other residences? Also what are ur thoughts on it?
i honestly don’t know! i wanna say no because it’s an older res but it’ll still have a fridge and microwave. and vic is good! it’s known as the party res cause it’s huge so you’ll meet lots of people, and you’re attached to lazy (a retail food place on your meal plan)

I just accepted my offer to queens!! but I can’t decide how to rank my res (I’ve heard single plus is wayy nicer but I’m coming from BC so I won’t know anyone so do you think it’d be better to put a regular single/double in terms of meeting people and making friends?)
congrats!! i think it’s totally up to how you think you’re going to be here - if it’s super easy for you to go up to people, make friends in your classes & frosh week, i don’t think you’ll need the help of a roommate. but if you’d like to come already with 1 friend, go on the facebook page and see if there’s anyone you think you’ll click with. also, putting a single room first might increase your chance of being on west campus (that’s just what i’ve heard). in the end it comes down to your personality and the people on your floor, no matter the room style

How is the west campus at queens? Residence and food wise?
residence wise it has a reputation of being the worst because it's far from everywhere else (on it's own "west" campus) but people say that makes you closer with your floor because you only have each other. i only ate there once but it is supposed to have the best dining hall of all three. however, it's far from all the TAM places
Zoe Maya Also! I think I’m going to apply for Concurrent Education in Science at Queens! So because the faculty of Education is on west campus does that mean I automatically will be staying on west campus for residence? Or is there options to choose main campus
nope, i know tons of con-ed students who were on main. i don’t know if they do this every year but for my year they sent out an email in the summer saying that if anyone wanted to volunteer to be on west they would be guaranteed a single room
@@zozomccormack I lived at west and loved it. I was there in the 90’s and meal plans were optional there were 1 to 2 kitchens on each floor. But I think they turned some of the common rooms into double rooms.
