      I am a car salesman and I will agree with that 100%. Even something small like rims and tires on a vehicle you will get ZERO more dollars for when it comes time to sell. As a matter of fact I cannot name how many times we have taken a trade in with rims and then were asked to replace them with factory setup before they would buy. You want value? Keep it original, take it to the dealership you bought it from for all maintenance and repairs and keep records with vehicle and keep miles low. That's all.

    • @BlueLineChop
      @BlueLineChop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    If you're into customizations, make sure it's something you can keep forever because if you decide to sell it will lose value. Customizations on any vehicle will lower value since not everyone likes the same customs. My favorite customs won't be the same as the next guy's favorite customs. So if you custom a vehicle and plan on selling it later on, make sure you turn it back to stock so you'll get more money back from it.

    130 was a fast bike in the 60's. Well over 200 is a fast bike now. I purposely rusted it, this is very highly skilled work? You don't weld things like motorcycle chain or valve springs. These are high alloy steels and they are not designed to be welded. This guy is just lucky he hasn't demasculated himself yet. (this isn't a real word). Most of the welds I can see do not even pass visual inspection, what they tell me is that he really just doesn't know how to weld. I would put his labor cost at $0. They wouldn't even let this guy into the the shop at places I have worked.
    BTW guys if you run into anything made out of rebar it is NOT weldable either. There is rebar that is weldable but it is very very rare.

      You do understand what asking price means, right? Asking price was 15k, for that bike, that's a "huge asking price"...hence the title of the video.

      @@ynfelx Of course I know that. I also know that it doesn't matter what it cost to build. What matters is what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone is willing to pay $15k, more power to them.

    Guys I need to point out to you that custom doesn't always mean devalued and it's even been shown here on this show. I just finished watching another pawn stars bike clip where he bought a frame for 3,000, spent 15,000 at Dannys to build, only for it to then be appraised by them to be valued around 25-30k. Your arguments about custom making things cheaper afterwards don't hold up, but obviously this is a pawn shop where they need to make money. At first glance I was thinking Corey would offer 3500 for this one looking to sell it right around what the expert valued it at not because its only worth so little, but because these are instant cash offers that the seller already knows he'll get the least amount possible for an item

    I love old school looking ratty bikes. Had a couple myself. But this guy was definitely trying to upsell his bike. "Fastest bike out there, and looks like nothing you ever seen before" I don't know about all that man. And it doesn't have an old Harley Motor like a pan or shovel. Which would have definitely upped the value. Cool bike but I can't stand people bragging. Everyone who has a bike that's custom usually says the same thing. I do like the chain as the sissy bar though that's neat.

    Every single time I see one of their motorcycle "experts" come on, they always value it half of what the fair market value is, & sometimes down to 1/4... They must be getting free advertising, plus body & paint work added (or some kinda cream) to be giving the professional low-ball.

      @Speedy rapacki Maybe, true, but I've seen Pawn Star's "experts" get a LOT of stuff way off both ways over the years, so ya never really know unfortunately - things get REALLY messy when it's custom modified stuff, it's like trying to get a dragster appraisal - its kind of an "in the eye of the beholder" situation every time. So who know honestly 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @jacobthorpe4316
    @jacobthorpe4316 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The amount of people who think the value increases the more you customize them, it's unbelievable. It doesn't work that way. Vehicles depreciate in value, customizing doesn't increase value. Unless it was a classic car and you were replacing original parts with original parts in better condition, those are only one of the very few scenarios where value would increase.

    I would enjoy that bike because I like the way it looks and think the guy did a good job building it. With that said, I wouldn't pay more than $6,000 for it because that's what I would expect to get for it when I sell it. If he had spent all that time and money actually restoring a collectible Harley, he would have been able to recoup a larger percentage of his time and money from it.
