It's so sad to see how these artifacts have been pillaged from their native countries and treated so poorly and not given the respect they deserve in the countries they have been taken too. Well people didn’t have the curiosity to learn about cultures and history like we do now, mostly because of the internet. When all those samurai swords were taken as tokens in Japan during WWII, they didn’t think of them as historical pieces but instead more like “yo a cool sword is mine now”. Over the years we’ve gotten more connected than ever and we’ve learned that there can be some sort of interesting background to stuff you don’t see often. I think the importance of learning about different cultures through travel exposes us more and more to these things and allows us to appreciate them more. It is sad, but the world we live in now is very different from the world 70-100+ years ago
