    Amazed at the hate toward this guy
    Ok. Assuming he is doping, yet you’re taking up for contador?
    Like he hasn’t doped? Like he hasn’t been caught ?
    Even when he he wasn’t suspended there still were allegations
    Either hate them all for doping or stfu

      Problem isnt that Lance doped (in this context) the problem is he is a bully. That's why folks were easy to pull against him.

    Chris is da bomb! I never get tired of hearing his commentary. He is also the most positive, nicest guy you’ll ever meet or ride with........which is also how he can pull off always speaking his mind. That and his ability to see all the angles so clearly. My favorite all-time commentator in any sport. I spent many years towards the end of his career hoping he would become a commentator when he retired from professional cycling. Yay👏👏👏

    Alberto was the team leader, Lance should be working for him not the other way round? Lance, come on, you're not as good as you used to be, let someone else take the limelight?

  • @hughraphaeli
    @hughraphaeli 12 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    No they are not - he is so matey with Lance he cannot see the truth about him. Alberto was right to go for the yellow jersey as he was the best in the team. Lance was not as good as he but he could not bear to admit to it. The trouble-maker was Armstrong - he was Twittering and making trouble. he likes to intimidate - this is why it has taken so long for USADA to get his old team-mates to own up about EPO abuse etc.

    Amazing the amount of control Lance had over all American riders.... Like reading off a script. It's not like Contador went crazy and decided to go against the team, he knew Johan and Lance where gonna try and screw him over first chance they got. A lot of politics in cycling. Reminds me a bit of Hinault and Lemond when they where having their fight in 86

    This Astana 123 could never happen with Andy and frank Shleck's perssistent presence.
    And, if, Andy, wouldnt have slowed down the pace for Frank to join him and AC duo,
    Lance would not be on the podium in the Champs
    And as he declared in the begining , he would gladly let the stronger man win.
    So mission acomplished.

  • @bubbahchops
    @bubbahchops 14 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Whats interesting is that Lance came back to Astana and no other team. Is that because his buddy Bryuneel managed the team or because Trek was there sponsor? Also when Lance was leading US postal and Discovery who else would have been able to go for the yellow jersey on either of those squads? However he comes to Astana after a 3+ year hiatus and no theres going to be a 3 or 4 leaders on the same team? Crazy! Lance had no intentions of helping the teams current leader Contador! Wake up people!

  • @jmr7river401

    CH is being too subjective here. Agree with Chazz. Survivorship that’s real life. Lance and allies attacked Alberto in the crosswinds, Alberto retaliate by attacking and establish himself as leader. CH is not telling the whole story here.

  • @grtas1
    @grtas1 15 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I also seem to remember Ullrich waiting for Armstrong when he could have won the tour in 03 and Lance had the nerve to say to Charlie Rose that Jan seemed to be going at race tempo. Armstrong has a history of manipulating and bullying his way around the peloton - like when jan attacked in 04 and he ordered csc to chase him down - then at the finish line he wanted everyone to obey so that Landis could get the stage win. I respect the guy for all he's been through but he can still be a prick.

    yes, this was American sourgrapes at its worst. Alberto crushed lance. Recall - Lance stole away on the early wind-swept stage without a bye or leave. But when Alberto did his characterisitic attacks on the slopes and won leadership of the team, lance was jealous. Horner of course is a mate of Lance and is still biased enough to think Lance did it all without PHD. Poor old Horner. he forgets too lance was Twittering and fomenting trouble in the team himself. What an arrogant big-head he is.

  • @skiviper

    Chazz, you keep assuming Astana was a "normal" team. Yes, under normal circumstances, Contador may have been "wrong"
    But this was not a normal team, it was a dysfunctional one. You had "team lance", and then Contador and Paulinho. I can undertand why people would side with lance (they want a radio shack contract, etc) . But still, it was clear that Contador was being alienated in the team, so the "loyalty" of AC to Astana was gone.
    Also, not attacking doesnt equal helping

    Chazzz, We have seen other times when a leader wasnt declared, with the same tension as a result (Vino and Ullrich,
    Lemond/Hinault)
    I understand that from a logical view, doing this 2-3 man leader thing works, but when you throw in human emotions, it can backfire.
    What you see as Contador disobeying was actually him going paranoid over the toxic atmosphere in the team created by LA and JBs relationship.
    Kloden was not his teamate as far as Contador was concerned, he was LA's only

    I think it's clear that contador was the strongest rider in last year's tour and Lance was clearly not going to waltz in and automatically reclaim the number one spot. HOWEVER, I also think it was clear that after it became obvious that contador was the best chance for yellow, armstrong worked his tail off for the young spaniard. Alberto, for his part, was incredibly ungrateful and seemed to continue to view his own teammates as enemies. That's where I have a problem.
