@@cervus-venator The NWS is saying we're supposed to see rain from a couple of low wsystems in the Gulf, but, those dang things normally flood every field out....hoping and praying for the best!!
Nice work Mr Douglas ! Lol , my wife came in and said " What are you watching ? " as your tractor flying around field...i told her im going to get a race tractor...lol
👍👍hope you get the rain Cervus, I got almost 3” of rain from the first of June through the sixth but since then only .5 inches. I know the last few years we have plenty of rain until I plant fields for the deer and it turns off dry. I’ve been hunting here since the mid 80s and I’ve never had to replant a field except for the past 5 years I’ve had to replant several times. I keep moving my dates back because our September & Octobers have been very dry. It sure is aggravating when you put in all that work and you don’t get the rain you need.
I agree Lance. Several of the guys in the camp (GA) like to plant Labor Day Weekend and I keep telling them that is too early. Last year my GA deer plots were planted around the last week of October if I recall. That is a little late for me, but the plots did great. I usually plant the last week of September or the First week of October. I never plant in early September due to the very hot and dry conditions. I'd say mid-October is a good target date. In Alabama I planted the plots over there around November 15th and we got a good rain the day of. By Thanksgiving the plots were looking great.
@@cervus-venator yep, I’ve started planting mine late October trying to watch the forecast making sure there is some rain in the forecast not to far off. I can remember a time when everyone I know planted early September but you can’t do that anymore.
You planted millet same time we did. No rain…. I had to buy $200 in water hoses to put sprinklers on the plot. 🤦🏼♂️ I’ll be planting in May from now on.
Yeah, I should have planted it when I planted the Dove Proso millet. So now my replanted brown top will not be ready for opening day. I went to Harbor Freight and bought 350 feet of hose and a sprinkler to try and water the sunflowers. I ended up using it on the Proso Millet. I'm hoping your dove plot works out for you.
It does really well. It takes a bit longer to mature and dry out than brown top, but the birds really seem to like the seeds it produces. I bought both the brown top and the dove proso at the same time and the dove proso was just a little cheaper.
@@cervus-venator that's good. I planted some browntop Monday evening. Also had a nice row of volunteer millet that I'm letting go. It will be earlier feed for them.
@@redbeardsaga724 At least you have the good stand of sunflowers too. This year I planted sections. Sunflowers, Proso Millet and then the Brown Top Millet. They are calling for rain next week so if it germinates by then It'll have right at 65 days.
The fields are looking nice, I'm sure you'd like to get more production from the Sunflowers. Take care my friend and good luck!
Thanks and yes on the sunflower production. My fear now is if they will not survive this dry spell.

Cervus be getting the job done!!! Really enjoying these fun videos man
Glad you like them Bullets! I'm worried about all my plants now that we've gone several weeks without rain and it being very dry.
Good job 👏.
Thank you! 😃

Cervus im going to go out and do a rain dance for us .
Thanks Steve I certainly need all the help I can get. 👍🏼
Looking good! Hope the birds don't get too many seeds.
Thanks!! Me too! I'm hoping enough is under the thatch that they can't see or get too.
I still think you put a supercharger on that tractor when we wasn't looking 👀🤣
Varoooooommmm!!!!! Thanks Carbon!

This weather is horrible, we got like 8-9 inches over a month and a half and now we're getting diddley squat! Good luck Cerv!
Yes, hot and dry. I hope my sunflowers survive.

Hope when rain does come it isn't too much at once. Steady drizzle will help a lot especially with temps in the 90s. Good luck! 👍🙏🇺🇸
@@billdye3530 Thanks Bill
I had the same situation with my field of Milo and Buckwheat; still no rain in sight.
Hopefully soon Gary! We need to do those rain dances for sure!
I wish I could send you some of the rain from up here
Thanks Paul, I sure could use it. Supposedly there is something in the Gulf that will be making it this way next week.
I hope it don’t turn off dry but i think it will Cervus
It has. Our grass at the house is dying. I'm more worried about the other things I already have growing.
Hey Cervus
Hi Randle 👋👋
👍👍👋🤝
Thanks JC!!
I had the video on TV
That's awesome!!
👍🏽
Thanks Mitch!!
Great job. By the way you drive the tractor. And most of the turns are to the left. You might try out for Nascar. 😂😂😂😂😂
That's the plan! Thanks Jeff!!
