    1:25 Sanwa buttons have been used in about 85% of arcade cabinets in Japan since around 1993. For the first 3 years they were mostly paired with the Seimitsu LS-32 joystick and after about 1996 pretty much every cabinet (except many SNK cabinets) has had the Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons + Sanwa JLF stick.
    That doesn't mean they are better than Seimitsu LS-32 + Seimitsu PS-14-GN but that Sanwas were what the arcades were looking for. Simple, suitable for every kind of game and fast to replace (everything but pivot replacement/pivot re-greasing could be done without tools)

      @@kryos0627 Dude, do you have any idea how much the fight sticks he has cost? He probably has a good chunk of change, those sticks aren't cheap. I just bought a qanba drone on sale for 80 dollars and a sanwa kit for 50 dollars, and then 7 dollars for the 5pc wire.

    Btw the buttons on the Hori sticks are Hayabusa Buttons, they stopped using the Kuro buttons when the Hrap V came out, you can tell the difference because the hayabusa buttons have the textured feel to them and the Kuro buttons don't.

    I dunno man. The glossy buttons are actually grippier making double/triple taps harder. Thought I'd like Sanwas better but the Hayabusa's have grown on me. Good job Hori.

      I made this video very early in my arcade stick journey. Although I still stand by lots of what I said in this video, my opinions on the various button manufacturers and their respective feels have changed gradually video by video :)

  • @Nowahz
    @Nowahz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +79

    Those hori buttons are actually "hayabusa" same branding as the stick/lever itself.. the "kuro" buttons are actually glossy, the hayabusa buttons are better than the old kuro coz they dont get stuck and have a lower profile. its nearly similar to sanwa only matte. I dont really like the sanwa much coz they are too sensitive(if you rest your fingers lightly on them they actuate), I preffer seimitsu buttons overall but id take the hayabusa over sanwa otherwise.

      IL or Happ/suzo Buttons with cherry .75g switches feel so much better than any of the Japanese buttons. This is what you are looking for if you like the heavy click of classic american arcade buttons.

    I just want to thank you for taking the time and redo the focus and exposure of your camera every time those get off!
    Looking into arcade sticks for playing Tekken I've only encountered reviewers and DIY'ers that show parts into the camera's lens without regard for the camera's focus so all I'm really seeing is a black blur instead of an electronic part or a manual >.<
    Really, honestly, thank you for minding your viewers in regard with the camera! (or should I say ありがとうございます?)

    I can’t believe you’re so OCD that you changed the buttons . But hey , if you notice the difference and it’s a favorable change. I still remember the glossy buttons from the arcades I played back in 1990, and can tell the stick’s are different...
    Having seen your mod, I’d feel safe making the kids myself if I needed it. ( I’m still ok the fence about getting the stick at all).
    Thanks!

    The black matte buttons are called Hayabusa buttons and their considered very good.
    The buttons you replaced are Kuro buttons, they kind of feel like crud.
    Sanwa is arcade standard, but personally I prefer the Hayabusa buttons. They have a lower profile which feels better to me.

    I grew up playing with Sanwa parts in my local arcades in the Middle East. Ever since then when I bought a fightstick, Id usually replace the buttons with Sanwa parts. However the only fightstick i've never replaced the buttons was the Hori RAP V3-SA for the PS3 reason was because the default Sanwa parts was actually not bad, in fact, it was actually pretty great!
    Parts in a fightstick kinda affects the gameplay in fighting games, of course if your just casually playing fighting games or shmups on the stick then it doesn't matter but if your a competitive figther (like me) you'd likely wanna swap the buttons (depending on what stick was bought). It doesn't matter much but it does if your into good controls for a competitive play. During my trip in America, I found a Street Fighter Alpha 2 cabinet, it had a bat-top stick which didn't affect me as i've used both of the types, ball and bat. But what do turned me down and my play was the buttons and the stick. I may have said the stick didn't affect me BUT the parts of the whole thing did mess me up a bit lol. The the square gate isn't a even the problem (I use that gate but I do most on an Octagonal gate), the real problem was the parts, they were so old and also barely responsive, the buttons felt a bit mushy. Its playable but the parts isn't my type (still I was able to pull Alpha 2 combos with no minor stops). Parts in a fightstick affects your gameplay unless your using it for casual use.

      what you experienced are american Happ parts, which are inferior in almost every way to japanese sanwa and hayabusa parts. I swear the only reason people buy those anymore is for nostalgia purposes.. they are absolutely the worst.

    PRO TIP! Remap the end buttons that you don't use to vskill and vtrigger.. not only is it now easier for you to execute those functions with one button, but you can now of course double tap vskill/vtrigger. try double tapping vskill or vtrigger without remapping them keys.. HA! these useless buttons have become indispensable now (as my brain doesnt know how to vtrigger with HP+HK anymore. ) but the take away lesson is use every tool that is afforded to you

    Official Taito Viewlix arcade cabinets use Hori Hayabusa parts. "Actual Arcade™" does not automatically equal Sanwa. Hori and Seimitsu parts can be on par and even superior in some regards.

    Hori is actually the partner of Taito for the Vewlix arcade cabinets for a few years now. Also because of that, Hori produced the Hori RAP Vewlix which simulate the size of the arcade cabinet. I've used Sanwa when I modded my HRAP3 from 2010, but recently bought a Hori RAP.N and prefer the Hayabusa stick and buttons. I just like the travel of the Hayabusa stick over Sanwa and the buttons have lesser actuation because the'yre shorter.

    I just got a Hori RAP 5 for PS4 and I actually love the buttons lol they’re not as annoying of a sound. They’re smooth and less springy took a little to get used to because sometimes you get used to those audio cues. I do enjoy having something different though it’s my 2nd hori

    It's a bit cornering they came bent. Hopefully they last. If it doesn't well then you have video evidence to show them if you need to get them replaced.

    • @Ownedhardtime
      @Ownedhardtime 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      xxnike629xx them being bent isn't going to affect the button life at all, and if they snap it's incredibly easy to just solder the wire onto the snapped part.

      Like mailmans care a shit about wht's inside the mail they deliver, they only carry your mail to ur house and thats it. If its to blame anyone for delivery damaged during carry, then its falls on the sender/vender because he/she didn't care enough to send them well packed and protected to avoid "transport damage" in the 1st place.

    maybe just leave the option button original hori red, since the original one doesn't spin. that way you won't have to glue anything. plus I think it'd look kinda cool with the option button blending in and the main buttons standing out.. but if you do stay with the blue one, use some hot glue or epoxy instead of super glue.

    Your sticks are using Hori's Hayabusa buttons (matte). I had a sanwa stick and personally like the Hayabusas better. They are more responsive and less straining on your fingers after hours of play.

      I've been using the sanwas for a few weeks now and yeah, the hard stop causes more strain on the fingers. Do you not find the angle for ur right arm has to come in too close for the Noir button layout?

    • @ELICK111

      NihongoGamer The Noir button layout feels more comfortable IMO. The Hori RAP N is longer than the RAP 4 and has more room for you to rest your forearms. With more area to rest your right arm on, the angle feels better.

    ++NG++ So, a long time ago, back when the switch came out, I think I asked you if your joystick top rotated or not. You seems rather confused, as I recall, but I’ve been thinking about it every once in a while since then and I have come up with a reason why it worried me-I grew up playing with bat tops not ball tops. While I had played some street fighter in the arcades, I mostly played Soul Calibur and MK (fill in the blank number here.) And in Alaska, at my local arcade, I think that they did a hardware swap on almost all of their machines for bat tops. My theory is that because they didn’t move as much, the owners thought that they might not break as often, but who knows. Anyway, I think that the reason why the change stood out to me so much is that a lot of the sticks and toppers seemed to be the wrong color for the cabinets. Yeah they would match, player one with player two, but they didn’t match the arcade cabinet itself, most of the time. Anyway, after seeing your video today I am now very curious about opening up my RAP V stick and gutting it for parts to make a custom box that would use mechanical key switches from a keyboard, instead. Let me know if you’re interested in seeing the results.

    Ea needs to make a arcade mode for nba but have it play like nba showtime where you can catch fire so I can buy a nba game and use my arcade stick.

    I thought Taito had a partnership with Hori to use Hori Hayabusa buttons and levers on Taito Vewlix arcade cabs.

    • @AvengerII
      @AvengerII 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did.
      The Hori lever and buttons were created to arcade spec.
      They're way better than what Hori used to produce for OEM that wasn't Sanwa-supplied.
