I think you could pair it up with ‘Checking out me history’, the similar themes of control and abuse of power but from two different perspectives, ‘My last Dutchess’ being from the perspective of the one in control and ‘Checking out me History’ being from the perspective of the controlled.
just like to say really appreciate you responding to me in our last conversation, made me smile and really did make my day that little bit more special 😊 anyways, onto the video itself, I really enjoyed this watch! the animation is amazing and everyone in class was attached right away. in my opinion minute 1:37 was the greatest moment, expresses how controlling he was. that’s all from me mr.bruff, see you soon 😃 (thanks for another awesome video❤️)!
Thank you for these videos I managed to get a 6 this year in both English lit and Lang although I didn’t sit my exams my grade point average improved lots thanks to your revision tips etc I even got a grade 7 in one of my English lit paper 1 mocks. So thank you for allowing me to get a 6 in both lit and Lang cus honestly I was so bad before I found you
@@daneve7638 Tissue actually isn't that hard, I find it quite easy because of the ideas we came up with in school and it makes a lot more sense than my last duchess ,hence I am watching this vid now to get a better understanding
I would have also mentioned that, through the twist at the end of the poem, this is indicative of Dukes desperation to reclaim marriage, showing a lust for control. Which is, like you said, ironic given his inability to govern his own anger.
I like contrasting it with o captain my captain by whitman. The voice being different the style of leadership reflected in the respect given verses demanded.
my luck is insane i never revised a poem other than kamikaze but that was the poem i wanted to compare so for the poem to come up i got up early morning and watched vids on my last duchess and it just had to be the 1/15 chance that it was the poem in the exam
Mr bruff I need your help in igcse english literature syllabus in drama section they are given list of these drama othelo, twelfth night, death and the king's horseman, Rc sherriff journey's end and lynn Nottage play crumbs for the table of joy I want to know about my daughter that she learn all of the above for 2023 exam or she has a choice or school decide this plz advice as soon as possible . Also in anthology section all poems she learn or she has a choice. If there is a choice in drama which drama is best to select in your opinion.
1. The school decides 2. she has to learn all of the poems, as one will come up on the exam, and she will have to know one from memory, then she will compare the two.
I think I would compare it with Porphyria's lover since they both have a dramatic monologue and they both seem to want control but don't have control o'er the situation or the lover. This can be contradicted by porphyrias' behavior at the beginning. The women in both poems are very peculiar and different from women of that age.
