That was such a great show! The work was amazing. I appreciate the quality of explanations on process. Doing a great thing for the community! Well played to everyone involved.
Awesome first episode--part 2 was even better than I expected. The entire episode was hugely fun to watch and also a great learning experience because of the focus on details, design decisions, and the makers' process. Excellent work guys; looking forward to the second episode!
Very good for your first episode and look forward to the others. I would have liked to see more of the finished blades in terms of them having some close ups and the sound was a little soft in the testing area. That's pretty minor though and you'll go from strength to strength over time.
@SavageCustomCreative very early days. Brilliant show. As others have already mentioned, you guys walking around giving hints, and the contestants helping each other was sensational.
I like the positivity of the judging. It’s a little similar to the American show, but I really like that you guys actually interact with the smiths during the whole process instead of just sitting back and watching. Also, I liked the voice overs explaining the processes like the forging Damascus. I look forward to more episodes, this is a good show out of the gate.
Your first contest show and format was great, this second one is even better. Fantastic to again see the whole process, with clear and informative judging. A down to earth show with great comradery and with great potential. And not to forget the technical education and introduction to the 'squishy squishy squish squish'. Can't wait (but I will have to) for the next episode. Keep it up.
Guys I’ve just started my blacksmith journey and I’m loving this so good to see an Aussie show and I’m learning with every second I watch. Keep it going 🍻
I enjoyed this. I’m an American and we had forged in fire. I was expecting it to be like what we watch here but I’m pleasantly surprised that this is a completely different twist then what I’m used too. God bless craftsmanship
Loving Part 2 guys and girls! The running commentary and info on what the terms mean is brilliant and really appreciated. Love the comradery between the competitors with them helping each other in little ways. Love the non-staged, realism of the show and terms like "squishy-Mc-Sqish-Squish" are going to be a household favourite at my house I just know it 😂
I'm off to the Sydney Knife Show on August 12th-13th at Rosehill Gardens, hopefully with my mate who forges, so this show is a great primer! Looking forward to the next episode in a couple of days. Subscribed!
Another great episode and i look forward to seeing another competition. When i gave advice on the first half of this competition i think i suggested letting the viewers get a better look at the completed knife/sword and obviously this was already filmed before any criticism from the public could have been received but it still stands to mention that i and i am sure others would all like to see a close up panning veiw of the completed project. The reason i think its important to show is when the judges are giving criticisms and positive feedback the viewer doesnt have a complete idea of the finished piece so it makes it a little tougher to relate to what the judges might be mentioning. That being said i absolutely love that you folks are tackling this situation and doing your best to give the blacksmithing/bladesmithing community knowledge and entertainment. It has to be incredibly difficult to get so much raw input and whittle it down to an hour long episode. I am one of the dweebs who would sit and watch the entire 20 hours it took to make the sword lol but not everyone probably feels the same way. I really wish all of you guys the best successes and really hope this is just the beginning of something that is able to continue for a long time. THANK YOU!!! All the way from America.
great second episode guys! i would've liked to see closer shots of the swords, along with statistics for them too, like weight, point of balance, and maybe even what (if at all) they might resemble to real, historical swords. i'm just a sword nerd though :P
Excellent work guys & gals (yes, heard the girls in the additional audio) :-). Big positive for me was the extra chat between judges and contestants during their builds, it helps to explain things to the general viewer who isn't in the hobby. The boys working as a team even though they're competitors was heartwarming too. I've signed up to support you on Patreon and hope others throw a few bucks your way to help you fund programs into the future. Keep up the great work.
well you guys are doing great!. never herd of a bbq sword before. i liked both of the blades. yeah i know there's only one winner. like i said in part 1. this is better than F.I.F. be waiting for part 3 to come out. stay safe guys.
I like that they get more time. I know putting a time limit shows your problem solving abilities, but I think with more time still having a time limit, you get more epic builds.
Slicing-ly good time. Imagine pulling one of those along a slow cooked brisket. If this is how well you did producing episode 1 and it can only be up from here, the season finale is going to be epic. :D
Lads, I loved these two episodes! Gentlemen ( not a call to authority) but facts with pride: I’m a boilermaker, sheet metal worker, blacksmith and pressure welder and I couldn’t make either of these works of art in the time frame provided if I tried! Well done to you both and as a viewer I look forward to further episodes to come.
Cracker episode guys, huge improvement in the content and filming from the first episode. The swords looked and performed excellent, well done to both of you, a credit to the knife making and blacksmithing community. Looking forward to more episodes/seasons in the future.
Great video. I liked how there was narration and explanation of different processes. I would like the music to be muted down so that sound effects can match what is being seen. Such as when the guys are welding pieces together, when the billets are put in the fire, when the guys are using their hammers to flatten the steel and so on.
Really enjoyed it. Liked the format. Considering you appear to be doing it on a tight budget i thought it was pretty polished and looked good. I look forward to more episodes.
WtH is a BBQ Sword? Its 🥱 Late... I dont know 🤷🏼♂️ and now i have to wait an see .. this has been a good 👍🏻 show so far. BBQ Knife that was Part 1, Was also 👍🏻 a good video. Not sure how they crafted such good an functional knives in such a short time. These contestants did a really good job.
Was that a small (maybe 35-40KG) Anyang power hammer and Becma farrier anvils? Just asking because the tools seem really similar to the ones that I'm learning on in my local smithing school.
Congratulations to both the guys absolute awesome swords and was so good to watch. Love the new show/competition hopefully it continues. Would love to be a part of a show one day if you ever do a never before forged comp as I only do stock removal on my knives. BigFellaBlades is who I am on socials please hit me up if this ever comes to light. Keep up the great work guys.
To me Steve Won ... Simon did do a great job. But i think the judges chose the wrong winner. Some key things in my opinion. Simon made a Oversived Knife, not a "Sword," and two judges said he picked up damage on his blade, and the fit needed work on both. But simons seemed to me to need a little adjustment, and handle seemed overly long. now the materials used in the handle, Simon did choose a better choice in materials, and Steve could've adjusted from a One pice wood grip. Another thing i wouldve liked to steve do, is add Fullers. Steve also didnt Polish his blade near as much as Steve. But yes, both did do a Great Job, and they both made very nice and functional blades in a tight tine constraint.
This is my score sheet. Production value: 3/5 Sound was poor Judges hair: 2/5 The Mullet is dead Concept: 5/5 Great Idea. Over all Score: Fantastic, Thanks for posting. Looking forward to what you do next.
Interesting, making a blade that is probably illegal in Queensland (basically looks like a big trench knife to me) and it still gets 5's from the judges for design?
Not bad for the first show boys im sure the quality of the content and the way you's go about it is only going to keep getting better with further episodes ... good job fellas keep it up but one thing i will say if I ever hear " it vill kill " im outa here ..

Still better than the u.s. poofer show!
I like that there was normal testing instead of a brick wall smash and bullet proof that test before the filet challenge.
"The win was our friendship"
That says it all. What a great show. Fantastic work guys.
Showing the Australian mateship and what our community should strive for
This is what a forging competition show should be like
Thanks =D
Seriously.
This show fixes everything that I don't like about forged in fire.
That was such a great show! The work was amazing. I appreciate the quality of explanations on process. Doing a great thing for the community! Well played to everyone involved.
Much appreciated!
Cool ! ... great commaradery ; great program... looking forward to episode # 2 .........
You will love episode 2
I WANT THOSE DRAGON TONGS!!!!!!!!
So did I but he wouldn't give them up!
Awesome show. I love the filming.
Thankyou Darksi
Awesome first episode--part 2 was even better than I expected. The entire episode was hugely fun to watch and also a great learning experience because of the focus on details, design decisions, and the makers' process. Excellent work guys; looking forward to the second episode!
Thanks we fixed up a lot for this last part
The way they cut in the destruction test was breathtaking! Couldn't believe it. Well done both of you, they are incredible!
Then you haven't seen Forged in Fire ... those tests are somewhat brutal compared to these.
@@coppertopv365 Na, that show's got nothing on my boys at savage custom 😎

I would have liked to see more of the finished blades in terms of them having some close ups and the sound was a little soft in the testing area. That's pretty minor though and you'll go from strength to strength over time.
Thanks for your feedback we still have a lot of little things to clean up that'
s for sure
Top notch fellas. Great idea to keep the theme going rather than ask for a specific blade type. I can't wait to see the next one.
We love the theme it lets the makers do their magic
Sweet more vids. Keep them coming!
many more coming
Excellent show. Can't wait for the next one. Non-looped music would be great. 🎉
Music is something we still need to work on
@SavageCustomCreative very early days. Brilliant show. As others have already mentioned, you guys walking around giving hints, and the contestants helping each other was sensational.
Just watched and this is what Blacksmithing is about thanks for making it and I hope there is more to come
All about having fun and having a go
Brilliant! Absolutely love this series, great format, very knowledgeable and professional. Keep it coming gents!
Totally awesome show looking forward to seeing more episodes great work y'all
Thanks so much!

@@SavageCustomCreative You have shown Australia is able to, and does, do it better than the US.

Unlucky Steve, up the pirate sword.
It was a close competition that's for sure.
Loving the additional info and voiceovers fit the different techniques and technical terms!
Glad you liked them =D
Great show guys!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything important.
Have a ripper you guys!
Another well earns Like, comment and share. Awesome show and a great result, both competitors should be very proud of their work.
Appreciated =D
Another amazing show! I cant wait to see the next one.
Great episode! Thanks for making it and can't wait to see more!
great episode, esp. the sign on the bandsaw!!! should have such safety signage at school tech class.

You'd have to hope things stayed civil at a BBQ with those utensils around. Nice job to everyone involved; good show.
haha that's is for sure
This shows the entire process....nd it shows a lot of seriously gret people.

Great show.. really cool to see such differences between the craftsmen and results and judged so well
That's one of our favourite things about the rubric each contestants brings their own artyness into it.
great second episode guys! i would've liked to see closer shots of the swords, along with statistics for them too, like weight, point of balance, and maybe even what (if at all) they might resemble to real, historical swords.
i'm just a sword nerd though :P
That's a great idea! might have too see what we can swing for future episodes
Great start. Definitely more laid-back than the USA show, appropriate for Oz ;) Great comradery of the contestants.
Cool keep them coming
Plenty more coming

Really enjoying the show and the judging so far, cant wait for part 2! Might have to stay up at watch it at 430 AM here in the US.
Great episode, but we need to see more of the finished knives
Really enjoyed this and the interaction the judges had with the contestants and i like the idea of theme instead of doing replicas well done

Next episode should be 12th Aug

Wonderful show! The only suggestion i have is let the pop up texts last a little longer. Everything was great. I feel its what makers want to watch!

@@SavageCustomCreative yes sir I live in central Qld
Good show. Better scoring system. Better quality work
Really enjoyed this first episode although I thought personally steve should have won he made a sword not a large knife 😂

That majestic mullet tho
To me Steve Won ... Simon did do a great job.

Personally, that one sword looks like a giant chef's/cook's knife.
Are there no length parameters to make it fair in testing? Or did I miss this part? I don't think this was explained very well.
I’m learning so much! Do you guys have a patreon?
We sure do, more content and behind the scenes will be added soon www.patreon.com/ForgedDownUnder
Gents another awesome episode 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dumb question of the day! Who gets to keep the finished pieces?
For the first day they take it home for the advanced part we keep them and put them on the wall
@@SavageCustomCreative Awesome sauce... Wishing the show tons of success!
Do love the little titbit that the meat was given for the guys to take home, no waste here!
Now I don't feel so strange for bringing a sword to a BBQ.
awesome episode again big fella, but you need more mic's
This is my score sheet.

Judges hair: 2/5 The Mullet is dead
Concept: 5/5 Great Idea.
Over all Score: Fantastic, Thanks for posting.
Looking forward to what you do next.
Me personally, there is only one that I want or would purchase and that's Simon
what?, at 35:16 naming this "what's cooking", I would have called it "the porkers sword!"- as it is BBQ themed.
👍❤️👍❤️👍
Interesting, making a blade that is probably illegal in Queensland (basically looks like a big trench knife to me) and it still gets 5's from the judges for design?
Swords aren't illegal in qld.
