The name is KHUKURI not KUKRI 😂😂😂, I also know that the spelling mistake is not your fault but as a Nepali I felt obliged to point out those errors. A Khukuri initially was like that centuries ago but then a small cut was added towards the bottom near the handle towards the sharp side, so that the blood of the victim will not rush all the way to the users hand and the handle of the weapon and make it slippery in the battle field or get stuck on the victim's body when pulled out from the cut, ultimately losing the weapon. That cut would prevent those blood flow and make it drip from it before getting to the hand or handle. Small details made the Gorkhali victorious in close combat. Though, you have nice skill and gave your best effort.
Yessir! That was the goal, I’m glad it came across that way😅, I was worried I was talking too much about the intricacies, but I’ll keep doing it if you like it that much👍
I've watched other forging videos but most of them are silent, so while they're fascinating to watch I have no clue what they're doing. I appreciate your voiceover and the information you provide.
Yesterday I had elk burger patty with a fried egg on top for breakfast. Today I'm thinking a couple eggs over a bed of rice. Perhaps an oatmeal latte as well.
I really like that your surroundings aren’t some run if the mill workshop. It is lived in and it gives your video character. The washer and dryer are great horizontal work surfaces. 👍🤙
Your attention to detail is insane, I hand stuff my projects from time to time and people don't realize the level of patience and commitment required for it.
Fantastic blade, man. An even more fantastic display of bladesmithing. Fun to watch and a learning experience. You seem to enjoy your trade and shows in your ethic and finished product. Eager to see more!
Total respect for your skills, talent and patience. beautiful knife! I have an always liked the Kukri knife; the is one of the best I have seen in my 73 years. Thanks from a new subscriber.
This is the best video on knife / forage making I have seen, loved it. I like the how you explain what you are doing and why. It is good to see a young Asian artisan with passion and still going to get an formal education. Keep up the good work, from an old Chinese guy "Hold Yeah"!
I don't have a kiln, a vise, a belt sander or a quencher. What I do have is an appreciation for hard work and perfection. How many hours was this project and cam you make me one?. I have no sharp knives and with only one arm I could never do what you do, you are totally amazing!!!!!!!!
If I'm not wrong you're the guy who won a whole bunch of forged in fire challenges. Good job bro great job. If you're not that guy. The compliment still stands
A very educational vid Jesse, especially the quote of “at the end of the day, is night!” lol. A sense of humour is a very important part of the content, and showing any mistakes, being small or big, even potentially, at critical stages as you did well, it makes it more real! Keep it up, and keep it in! From a new subscriber👍🏼.
Can't wait to see u back on the show... it will keel. The winnings from the show def went to some tools... all skills ,u will be abs mastersmith by 25 or sooner
I hope to be back someday! The money definitely went to a bunch of tools, it’s how I can do the things I do now. Mastersmith at 25 is doable, but will be very hard😅
holy shit that finnished Damascus the shot just before you do the final sharpen has this almost 3-d effect. what a beautiful blade! nice work mr.........thanks for allowing us watch perfection....
Heh Jesse Hu you sure have some talent there is no dought about that. But mate , take it from an old hand who has run workshops most of my working life , start being serious about eye protection. Protecting your eyes with safety glasses is soo so important. Your passion for your art is inspiring , don't let it be short lived. Professionals take safety seriously and never compromise.
Thank you Jesse, your vid’s are really very instructional for me. I wish I had the facilities to try knife making. I spent many years as a boilermaker, now retired. Cheers & keep those videos coming. Thanks again
Dude I'm woodworking in my garage in phoenix rn, I can't imagine blacksmithing. At least I can have a fan pointed at me. Holy shit major props what a baller
Damascus cladding like this is sometimes called suminigashi (墨流し, literally "ink floating"). Excellent work, my dude. Also, GZ on Arizona, RIP if you're in Tucson.
@@jhublades As long as you avoid the south side, you should be fine. Mostly. Probably. But seriously, enjoy Arizona. The waterfalls in Bisbee during the monsoon season are great.
Awesome 👏. Can’t wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep forge Lit. Keep Making. God bless.
Freaking sweet! Big fan of your challenges on forged in fire ☺️ I show my friends the episodes and they are in awe. I'm barely starting bladesmithing for just over a year and I'm doing pretty alright. Keep up the freaking awesome work! 😊
Wow great craftsmanship Jesse. A little explanation about the Kukri, the correct pronunciation is Khukuri which is the all purpose kinife for everyday household use in the kitchen, cutting wood, cutting fodder from the forest for your goats and cattle in the Himalayan region. It is also is used in the slaughter of animals by chopping off their heads. It is also a personal weapon of the Gurkha army. There is a small mistake in the knife. Jesse did not cut a small half moon slot at the base of the Khukuri blade before the handle. This is needed to drain or divert the flow of the blood away from your hand after a little slaughter so that the handle is not slippery and fly off from your hand.
Absolutely Stunning blade bro 110%!!!!! Keep up the great work&channel, can't wait to see your next project!!! The Damascus used for the San Mai just makes it really really pop it turns it into something completely different, it should have its own name it turned out so great!!!
It looks like a hell of an awsome blade 👍 youre video was great to watch. Keep on going strong much respect and honor from the Netherlands, may the Lord Bless You on your journey.
These videos always intrigue me and your explaining step by step and showing the full process is great I feel even prouder than you when I see the finished product 😅😂
Awesome job yet again Jesse! Have you ever used a mustard patina on any blades before? Looking forward to you tackling some of the crazy Damascus, like jelly roll, feather, or mosaic patterns. Try to somehow stay cool in that inferno of a shop you have there🔥🔥🔥
Amazing work, even though I don't smith or plan to ( at least for now) what I especialy liked that you explain what you are doing and what materials you are using.... "what is that fluind.... it's that and that..."

Really great work! Many knife makers are so impatient and it shows in the final knife.. look up shurap from Ukraine. He is excellent..
Please don’t upload videos like this where we cant go to specific time of the video
Use blue sharpie in magnum size. It works practically the same and wont spill

Will you make me such a knife big brother, please let me know the price of this knife and delivery in India
First blade making video with commentary that really explains something! Most of it is "oh look, I can make swords" and no explanation of how. More!

Hope you feel better, I also finds these videos calming 😊
Video Starts- (spills oil everywhere, breaks his forge)
Me- finally, someone i can relate to.
Also- I forge in Surprise, Arizona. The weather is straight up disrespectful.
The commentary that you add on this video makes it so much more enjoyable and educational to watch. Beautiful work too

great forging of course but great videography as well. Very enjoyable to watch with the editing.

Northern Arizona has snow ( lows -0 f ) in winter and mild summers ( 80s f ) so not all of the state is hot.
Amazing work. It's good to see craftsmen doing what they do best.
Now that's a knife! I love to see people's faces when they see a blade like that.😱😱😱
I've watched several of your vids.. this was my favorite build.. great technique.. thanks for sharing.. keep up the great work.
i cant imagine where your skills will take you, this work is astonishing
it will take him to his workshop?
I've seen 2 of your videos. And both times you where way too relatable. "I broke my forge" 😂😂😂 you're the Everyman's knife maker
i thought the "fuck it we ball" spill was the etching acid for a sec, i was so scared for both your hands and your apple watch lol
