To be honest, I'm a big fan of how polite everyone is on this show, even to the point of just chilling and respecting each other's work while a guy swings their weapons at mimic humans to see if they die

And really, if you don't do a good job on a blade or weapon there is no else to blame. But agree with everyone above that the sportsmanship and politeness between the contestants is great to see. I also like when they share stories about their scars the get from the forge, it's crazy what these guys deal with lol.

Now that we have reached a level of civilization where many country are conflict free, I think the fact that we can watch men cut ballistic dummies instead of people is a pretty good thing.

This show really puts on full display how much of a brotherly bond the blacksmithing community has. It's a dying craft that isn't very popular anymore. That's The main reason these gentleman are so humble and not sore losers, they understand the effort and dedication smithing requires at all levels of expertise in what is a widely unrecognised artform.
I wouldn't say it's a dying craft. It is no longer needed as mass production has taken over pretty much everything that a blacksmith would make. So whoever does blacksmithing does it out of passion, and whoever buys stuff made by a blacksmith, buys it because they like the look and feel of handmade stuff. I'd say we have a pretty thriving community.

What i love about this show is how humble and good sports these competitors are.Phil for example ; instead of being cocky he thanks everyone for his experience and thanks his fellow competitors.The defenition of good sportsmanship right there!
24:00 It's not a "catastrophic failure" it's actually quite an advantage. Many knights and swordsmen would remove their pommels and throw them at the enemy as a distraction. This method was so effective that it was actually forbidden to do this which is why you don't hear many historical accounts of this happening.

The weapon wielder from the judge's side, admiting his cut was not totally on point, and admiting it was him (still could be excused because of the handle made it hard to control), and not the blade being straight up not sharp enough, too heavy, or too flexible... Would really love to see the show expand and challenge smiths in how they have to forge their weapons, traditional or modern forges provided by Forged in Fire and not in their home.
I'd prefer to see the Smith actually forging, grinding and detailing their weapons. I do love to see the tests, but I also like to see the effort that went into the items they're testing.

probably, because Killing is something that's been a habit of many humans that it has likely become an ingrained instinct in certain gene pools. My genetics come mostly from Norway, Denmark, and Scotland, so I am not surprised that I too, find it quite satisfying to hear him say that :)

What I like the most about this reality show, even more than the amazing craftsmanship displayed by the participants, is how well everyone treats each other. They are all so kind and gentle, which is also the basis of being respectful, because you can't get real respect if you don't give kindness IMHO. Contrast this with other reality shows where there is so much fighting, shouting, berating and offending. And these shows have much more "peaceful" premises - mostly cooking food or repairing vehicles. It's funny that you need to watch a show about bladed weapons that can "keal" to finally see some kindness and respect on TV!!
Different conotations, present your sword is usually used when presenting it for judging, appraisal for sale, or to make sure its even worth it. Surrender your sword says that its not worth even apraisal for sale, that you will have to redo your work and try and do better.
