    Finally - first (here) to congratulate Lukasz for the new #PinePhonePRO and you for the (as usual) awesome show!

    It's absolutely amazing how much Pinephone has improved since launch. And I'm So happy to see this very significant upgrade in hardware with the pro. the camera is a really necessary improvement IMO, probably the main reason my wife isn't using her Pinephone 64 as her daily driver.

      @DarkMoon-hb3kh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like to know how your wife got a Pinephone 64, because back in July they tried to talk me out of buying one, without knowing anything about me. It resulted in me not getting a Pinephone 64.

      @@DarkMoon-hb3kh My wife bought it October 2020 via Poland, because we have very steep taxes in Denmark when importing from outside EU. But there were absolutely warnings when she ordered. But she was working on making her own PiZero based phone, so compared to that, the PinePhone was very complete in functionality, and easy to work with.The warnings are absolutely fair, the PinePhone is strictly for tinkerers. But it does actually work reasonably well now for basic phone and Linux functionality.

      @@buffalox8492 Thanks for the reply. I just installed 2 solid state relays in my computer to solve a power problem with the drives, so I am a tinker. I've seen the Pi Phones on the internet, and that is tempting to try out, since it could be tailored to my expectations. I could use the Pine Phone as a portable access to my security camera setups as well as using it as a phone. That and the privacy is what attracts me. I just don't know way they didn't want to sell me one in July of 2020. It could be that I am in the US?

      @@DarkMoon-hb3kh I admit I have no idea why, but maybe they were short of phones? Sounds like you could at least have some fun with it, even if you don't actually want it to be your daily driver.
      Hopefully availability of the pro will be better? It would be great for us if it was easily available locally (just somewhere in the EU), It's costly and a huge pain for us to order anything outside EU.
      Maybe you can get the PinePhone 64 easy now? It works way better now, and it's still reasonably cheap, if you don't have to pay through your nose to declare it.

    Actually such interviews and transparent answers bring only more confidence in this company and technology in particular. Looking forward to the day when I'll swap my iPhone with a full blown Linux phone without ever looking back

    Just ordered my Pine Phone pro, but cant use it as my daily driver because of the requirements I have for work. Having a well built, small Linux computer in my pocket at all times is well worth the price tag in my opinion. Also, I am proud to support this project, and see where it goes in the future!

    Next device that I would like to see from Pine64 is a feature phone!
    It could provide amazing functionality (because the bar is so low) and allow focusing on wireless support and low level optimizations. And could easily be used by 'normies'
    As for the apps, getting Java ME to run would probably be a non-issue, and then we could also adapt our regular GUI frameworks to really support arbitrary control styles

    I have the pinephone mobian edition and just ordered the keyboard and will probably get more accessories later on but, i am not trying to go for the pro version. I don't think its enough bang for my bucks, at $399 it only has 4gb ram. 8gb would have been more appealing to me for the price. Still I have hopes look forward to more progress.

    All these news about PinePhone and Linux hardware makes me Sooooooo ANGRY! 😡😡😡😡😡😡
    Nothing ships to India..
    On a lighter note, it is strange that no Linux hardware ships to India while it is one of the biggest markets (although much poorer than US/ Europe/ Australia/ China - but I guess that is even better, specially for Pine64 products as they are incredibly priced). Why can't they tie up with Amazon/ Walmart for shipping to India ?

    • @ShaunakHub
      @ShaunakHub 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicolaim4275 Yes, but if they tied up with say Amazon/ Walmart (Flipkart was bought by Walmart) - I guess that won't be an issue as they already import loads of stuff from all over the world.
      Just a thought... And I am pretty sure a lot of Linux users in India won't mind paying for the shipping cost that Amazon/ Walmart charges.
      Sending directly by them is not an option as our customs is probably one of the most corrupt in the world (they already tried to sent, which went in to the Indian Customs Black-hole...).

    While pine phone is 'cool' Its going on 2 years and not a single rom can use SMS or MMS correctly. But even the built in camera and LED are unusable by most distros. Its kinda a joke. And I have 3 garbage pinephones forsale

    • @markmoreno7295
      @markmoreno7295 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rusty, I am no power user, but did you try the Manjaro edition? I was able to use both SMS and take pictures, however the photos were not very good. Remember the Pine Phones are mostly "experimental" and cannot yet come close to Android or Apple. What most "techys" love is the terminal. We also want open source which both Android and Apple refuse to allow because they want control. The process of development is slow since software developers are mostly not paid. I don't care for Ebay myself, but you might try selling your phone.

    Pinephone pro must remove factory to taiwan and using better performance mediatek socs. Dimensity 9000 will be a dreams come true.
