Gnome apps are already decently touch-friendly. A USB to USB-C connection could allow you to compile ARM binaries on a PC and load them onto the phone. There shouldn't be any shortage of apps for this thing. And with the power boost, I think the Linux world is now basically ready for mobile.

Now I'm just hoping a dev can add nice big on-screen controls for the mGBA app so I can play games on it without the tiny pop-up keyboard arrows that Mobian Phosh has currently :p

I fully agree, while sure some Android and iOS apps aren't supported, many Linux programs in general don't work well on Android (whilst using something like Termux, of NetHunter, etc.) let alone on an iPhone!! I swear I have more apps on my phone dedicated to just trying to get basic functionality out of the thing as it is... A command line and regular programs is all I need!

@jshowa o Could you tell me how to sell my games on Origin, EGS and Ubisoft Connect? The reason we want Valve to make a PC based gaming phone is because they would likely have it run mobile Linux. No other business in the games industry has pushed Linux as much as they have, after the house of Steam gets everyone on board with our favorite OS then can we talk about competition.

Agreed unless apps have distribution in the Apple and Android app stores they're just not getting widespread usage. I don't see companies developing yet another app version to service a very small number of Linux phone users.
Perhaps a base app set that's community developed, and a way to compatibility layer Android apps is more realistic. If widespread adoption of Linux phones take place, then native apps may be a real possibility down the road.

My old android phone is with similar specs and i did not feel need for faster phone at all. And that phone was cheaper than pinephone back in 2017. I don't need much from phone, heaviest thing i do on phone is watching videos, that currently does not work very well on pinephone(directly on websites, tho well working app for that would be fine too), and some heavy websites also work slowly. If those 2 things get optimized pinephone will do everything i want.
I found out about pinephone in december 2019, and at that time i could pre-order braveheart edition, so i did it very soon because i had no idea it would take this long for software side to get there, and i didn't expect it to perform so poorly as my android phone with similar specs did not have any performance issues. I should have done more research but it looked just like the phone i have been waiting ever since my nokia n900 died, so i just did it.

First you should find out if somebody didn't make an app similar to yours so you can either try to improve it or fork it if the development is dead. If there is no project like your idea or just you want to go solo from the beginning then first decide what framework you are going to use. The main ones are QT for Plasma Mobile or GTK for Gnome/Phosh. Both frameworks have special guides and libraries to make mobile/adaptive apps. QT has Kirigami, GTK has GTK3/libhandy or GTK4/libadwaita. I guess you should start by looking into these things.

One thing I wonder about that... Aren't all these apps you say you need (twitter, facebook, messenger etc) already available through the web browser? I mean sure a native app surely would be more stylish than a web app, but for me it sounds kind of weird that a linux phone would be less compatible than an android phone. Yes there are like a million apps on google play but 90% of them are either paid, are full of adds or generally sucks, and yeah, you can't make android apps - on android. On linux you can at least make your own apps from scratch in case no one has made an app for you. The only app I am running on my linux desktop now that I predict would not be runnable on the phone is Android Studio but honestly, if I have a linux phone I wouldn't need android studio to begin with... I think a linux phone already is way more powerful than an android but sure, I can see why you wouldn't want to type sudo apt install xxxx in your soft keyboard everytime you wanted to install an app...
