    I'm a frustrated lobster who lacks of orange pigment, aquatic life and protective shell cells, but I'll be humble to accept the consequences of my poor choices and brave to fight for the good ones

    I recommend 'Religious Vocation: An Unnecessary Mystery' by Dominican priest Fr Richard Butler. The following is half of the blurb from Amazon.
    "The question of discerning a vocation is agonized over by many generous young Catholics today. A solid Thomist, who wrote this book in 1961, Father Butler shows that this type of question shows a totally wrong approach to a religious vocation - an approach that began with misguided theology in the 20th century, which then trickled down to the popular level, confusing both aspirants and spiritual directors."

    Even a rock, shrub and lobster have a divine reason for being placed where they are. Like we all a have purpose to play out in our circle, that radiates out affecting others and fulfills our path to heaven. We have free will to chose the Will of God for us. A rock, shrub and lobster have no choice. 😃 But we are called to be the best versions of ourselves thru God!

    Dear Father Pine, I have a desire in becoming a Priest. I’ve been having this desire for a long period in my life, as there are more than 2 Nuns, Priests, and Bishops in our family - somewhere must have got inspired by them probably. But I did come through phrases such as infatuations and I thought that Priesthood wasn’t meant for me. I went for the job - worked in a few countries; still working. The desire kept gradually increasing. I never had sent a time frame initially on when I would enter the seminary. After involving myself in daily prayers and guidance of other Priests, I have fixed a time on when I can enter the seminary. However, I also know that it is not in my hands to choose the time. But at least I could use this time to prepare myself for overcoming the materialistic desires, all sorts of temptations, and altering my behaviour. I used to be asked by my friends of other religions and also some Christians that why I want to become a Priest. I feel your explanation has got what I can explain.

    Question: what does it mean that people simply “assume” the vocation of marriage, that it is not discerned per se??

    • @vituzui9070
      @vituzui9070 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You assume it's your vocation by default, and you choose another vocation only if it appears clear to you that this other vocation is better for you than marriage.

      A.D and Beatrix I had two great Aunts and two great uncles who never married or entered holy orders. But were great examples to us in living lives in Jesus going to mass saying the rosey (sorry spelling not good) encourage us to pray and and to follow Jesus with the help of Mother Mary. I am almost sixty and each day I thank God for them and their examples to me and my brothers and sister. I believe my faith is better for having them in my boyhood. Great Auntie Mary died saying the rosey. Great Uncle Pat gave me a little statue of saint Joseph when I was a little boy still have statue and pray to saint Joseph for his help in things especially this year of Saint Joseph. So for me the Answer is yes. God bless you both and may Mother Mary and saint Joseph pray for you.

    Excellent human reasoning. Nevertheless, you never mentioned God's Word. Not one single verse. Not even once. I am now 68, have been a follower of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for 44 years, and have found that all the answers are in His Word. You are ignoring the greatest source of knowledge and wisdom in the universe. What a pity.
    "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
