Remember the 3 laws of hammer mains: 1. The monster's head is yours and yours alone. If someone starts tripping you (filthy LS mains), get 'em outta there! 2. Cry yourself to sleep whenever you fight a flying monster without a flashbug/pod. 3. PRAISE THE POWER CHARGE! (and big bang combo in World)
Yeah hammer is hard to master because even though the moves are the same the monsters are different. So you're not so much mastering the move set as you are mastering now to respond to every monster's kit. When to hang back when to go in what the spacing for moves and combos is and not losing your mind when you are going for the big bang and your LS or Insect Glaive teammate(s) keeps tripping or flinching you as they attack the head when there is still a tail to cut.
It would also be good to mention that Striker Hammer both charges faster and deals more damage with charge attacks to compensate for the loss of the golf swing. I had a soft spot for Striker back in Gen, where it's focus on charge attacks made it unique and a nice change of pace. It's too bad Valor has made it almost completely obsolete in GU since it does the same job, except *FAR* better.
do you think striker style was meant to take advantage of typhoon trigger's quick charge time? since it takes away the home run swing, but increases hunter art fill rate, i would think that's what striker was kinda going for. i haven't tried it, but i assume you still have all your charge attacks, so with the home run swing missing, you would instead activate typhoon trigger or spinning meteor (if it was charged)
Easy to play hard to master ......... How exactly is it easy to play? I'm super confuse the first time I pick up the hammer , then I give up like after 10 try and the fact that you only have to hit the head for this weapon doesn't help.

I'm literally the exact same with switch axe replaced with gunlance.

I always have a lot of fun with it. It's just a shame it's not as good in Gen and GU.

wow... MHW is my first mh game... and mhgu hammer look so fast compared to mhw's.
monster roars also take it off which is why fighting bagel is a fucking nightmare
