That is funny, you have a tap and set how about fixing that annoying little problem with the handles coming loose, and doing a video on it, or have you done that already? Anyhow, enjoyed thanks.
Good review. You are correct in saying these are not good for hardened steel bolts, screws, etc. I've had this set for a couple of years. For me it works fine for home use, I seldom need to use it except when I have to re-chase threads. You just need to make sure you use some cutting oil, which will prolong the life of the taps/dies.
I have Harbor Freight's higher-end tap and die sets---the titanium nitride or whatever. I have both sets, SAE and Metric. I bit the bullet and bought both because you never know. I started a mobile auto repair business last year and I knew that a good tap and die set would pay for itself on its first use. I had a customer with two bolts missing from his wheel hub and bearing assembly. I didn't have any spare replacement bolts. I had some very close to fitting, but no matches. OF COURSE I couldn't find any at Ace or Rural King, so I bought the closest size possible and cut the threads on the new part to match the bolts I could buy locally. I practiced on the old wheel hub just to make darn sure. It worked! It bailed me out of a situation where a customer would have had to keep his car with me for a day or two longer. What's up with all these tap and die sets cheaping out on the tap/die wrenches they give you? Most of them I see have very low-quality wrenches included.
Yea idk, as u can tell I wasn't very fond of the wrenches supplied. Luckily I have my older set that has a solid wrench in it. But for what the set costs it's still worth it imo.
The preview pop-up that demonstrates how you use yours has you spinning your die spinner down on a stud I guess if you're chasing it but its wrong if you're cutting, if you don’t back it off half turn every turn and a half you stand a chance of damaging either or both spinners you say. Nice vid
Gotta disagree with the zombie apocalypse application. About a half dozen dies dropped in a sock and then swung at the opponent can cause some serious damage. A variation of a lock in a sock.
Would have really been nice if you would have told us what the hell sizes it comes with!! Mainly 8x1.25, 10x1.25, 12x1.25 Not a single advertisement online for this set gives sizes either. Thread lock for handles.

A bit of red loctite on the tap and die handle threads solved the loosening problem permanently.
That bar that you said you had no idea what it's for, is the handle for the tap holder on the left side between the two large handles.
Ah, makes sense

Honest review, as always. 👍

@@mikesworkshop5375 I agree 100%. I feel like a tap and die set is one of those tools where, if you use it one time, it pays for itself!

Good review homie
Re: zombie apocalypse, might be good just for metal to melt down and make into something else lol.

Perfect idea!
