I was wondering when you were going to use your wood plank to mud plow the mud to the loading area. You did that in another video or two or three. Awesome! Thank you for sharing, Chris. God bless ya, sir!
Thank the Lord! I was about to go into pond dredging with drawls. I enjoy watching you venture out into the mud and waiting to see how far down you sink.
You are incredible at cleaning out these neglected ponds!!! You’ve done an awesome job at all of your previous pond cleaning jobs and I know you will do a great job at this one!!!
You could almost use a manure pump and honey wagon! 🤣 I would have been super worried in the mini that looked extra deep there!!! Amazing how much sediment washes into ponds over the years.
Lol Chris is playing musical move the mud with a mudmat, now that's what you call being efficient, efficiency at its finest ladies and gent, haha, thanks for sharing Chris, good video.
Oof.. those mini mats have seen better days. I always enjoy watching pond dredgings almost as much as I like beaver dam removals. There's something satisfying about things being cleaned up and working as intended afterwards.
Another mission impossible job by the best pond maintenance experts in central and eastern North Carolina . I liked that you cut your used Matt’s for the mini ex . I didn’t believe I had seen you use it before to dredge ponds out . Adapt and overcome the challenges
When you found the cable and started pulling on it, I imagined a drain plug on the other end... and a loud sucking noise as everything just drained away. LOL
Me and the ole lady been fans of your channel for 4 mebe 5 yrs. Never heard "mini mats" before!! 🧐 Too cool!! We always wait to be together to watch. Alot of times we are eating dinner. Makes a nice family evening. Hardly a cuss word ,but it happens now and again. I hope the young people wanting to be successful pay attention to your example. ✌️🙏from Va. 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
I think some of the air pumps we used in the paint industry could handle some of this mud. They were 4-6 inch diaphragm , compressed air driven and were used to move Both the pigment paste we made and finished paint! And our pastes looked a lot like the mud you are moving. The pumps used to move concrete could also move this mud!
Looks like an endless supply of muck! Talk about job security, you have it in these pond jobs digging up mud. I was wondering if you could get your hands on one of those Lobe pumps" like we used in the Navy to suck up sludge, sure would make quick work of what you're doing. I know they would work if you can get your hands on one.
Guess I'm going to be trying to dig my first pond pretty soon, granted its just going to be a small hole in the ground for animal watering. Currently clearing and stumping for that and some extra pasture area with the ol kubota kx161
It's amazing when these people design these housing or apartment complexes that they don't design it with easy access for what they know one day will have to be dredged out.
I have done construction most of my adult life (retired master carpenter) unless the one designing the layout also designed ponds, that is what you get.. Most don't know they will silt up in time and need cleaned out... They just look at getting as many dwellings as they can to make more money...
The sad thing is with the right equipment you could remove all the silt from the pond without bringing in heavy equipment but the process requires a ton of permits and over site as you are pumping a water/mud slurry to a filtering bag and letting the water run back to the pond. Why it requires the more paperwork and rules is you are directly discharging waste water into a water way even with that waste water now being filtered of mud and from the pond you are discharging to to begin with. you are also putting the mud/sediment into a spot it is easy to transfer into a truck once it has dried but it is now outside the creek/pond area.
@@sarman1998 The seal issue would pop up so would be better into tank trucks but what they normally do is use a dredge bag to pump the water/muck into and over a few days the water drains away under the weight leaving a muck that can be loaded into the normal trucks. Why waste money transporting water when you can let gravity separate it for you?
Not required so it don't happen. I think such ponds should be concrete lined so clean out is easy. Expensive yes but so is this after the fact. My city has lined all its drainage ditches except one. Every couple of years Public Works comes through and cleans them out. Nothing ever really builds up anymore. Used to have floods frequently, due to accumulations. EPA will not allow the largest one to be done. Everything around it floods every few years.
Hah, the old dragline mode. I was expecting maybe to recover an old concrete pump with a bicycle stuck in it, but never the old dragline move. Schmooth as it gets right there.
august allegedly it puts stresses on the machine in directions it’s not designed to take them in and can cause premature wear. In the uk you’d fail your test if you used swipes to backfill a trench.
@@ShalomBrother I've been "sweeping" with excavators for 25 years and never had any premature wear at the junction of the boom and dipper. (where you would expect damage) You just need to take it easy and not slam into rocks etc. Just smoothing over loose material, or in this case mud, there is very little chance of damaging the machine.
oof been there done that before Chris it happens man don't beat yourself up you are a Busy Man and work comes first the filming is secondary to that. We love that you share a part of what you do none the less man Keep up the good work God Bless
Dredging videos get the imaginations of people working overtime. If there was a portable package with a suction pump that you could hang off of an excavator and the sludge goes into a tank on a trailer to me hauled off. But until then the old methods work just as well.
Oh Yes !! Nothing like the Smell of Freshly Squeezed Pond Mud in the morning !! lololol.....And Grading Slop with the Mat....lolol... Great as always Man !! Have a Great Evening ! On too the Next....
Ponds like this are usually a storm water retention pond disguised as a "water feature". This means that it has had all the parking lot garbage and sludge (spilt oil, leaky fluids, etc) running into it for years. Lucky if they can use it for fill as it should be classed as toxic waste in most cases. Nasty stuff and should be buried deep if nothing else. Deep in a dump with a clay liner to contain is best. So, topsoil? Not really!
You need what they use out here in the San Joaquin River in the Northern California Delta they use mudsuction pumps they dredge the main channel from 55ft to 70ft. They just sucked all that silty mud a mile down the channel and dumped it into a farmer's field. 2 good things came out of it. 1. the channel is deeper allowing bigger ships to come in. We are the furthest inland seaport on the west coast of the United States 2. It made the levee wider and taller along several farmers property. Cause I know one bucket full at a time sucks. But you do so nice work
I’d say looks like your having another great day playing in the mud.I imagine that smell gets a little ripe when it starts drying.watch that splatter it’s getting on the windshield, can’t have that.beautiful weather there.👍👍👍😎😎😎
I know you have done it many many times but that has got to be a weird feeling when you are sitting on those little mats and are shaking yourself down knowing they are the only thing between you and oblivion... You know when you are loading mud it hardly seems you are making any headway at all. It just kind of shifts around to evade your bucket.
Why do pond owners wait so long to have them maintained? It's taken quite a while for this apartment complex pond to get in this condition. Is there a "better-call-letsdig18" indicator before a pond gets to the disaster stage? Just asking. P.S. Love those mini-mats......rebar and all. 👍😎❤️️
Its the last thing on the adenda, do as little as possible, repair fences reg work here & there etc, If its like my complex, landscaping should have been done (when new corp owners took over Again) multiple years ago.
Ok, just saying.... at con expo there was a lot of video on the long reach excavator.... you were eyeing that thing like a wolf eyeing a baby deer... So I’m pretty sure you need one of those for these situations.... Just do it!!!
Oh oh very wobbly, but you are not lost. Pro, with good tools! :-) Chris, I miss the subtitle. With that I can understand you better (as a German, with less than perfect knowledge of English). Can you always leave it activated please? Thank you. Smile.
Here’s an idea, can AMI design an attachment to give you a long reach scoop more than bucket, almost like a 12’ long arm with a drag scoop on the end so you can draw material towards you without lifting it that way you could drag a lot from safer footing ?
Another great video Chris, oh is Cameron still helping you out, just wondering but OK you and John and yawls family y’all stay safe and keep the videos coming brother
Your pond dredging jobs are awesome !!! My favorite, thanks

every time I watch you clear a pond, it just reminds me I need this done on my pond. Thanks a lot.
It reminds me that one day I’d like to have a pond! Minus the mud and silt . . .
I love it, the Mini and the mini mats!
Your having to much fun! Great technique Chris 👍🏻
You are incredible at cleaning out these neglected ponds!!! You’ve done an awesome job at all of your previous pond cleaning jobs and I know you will do a great job at this one!!!
The reason they do so many ponds is there probably isn't any competition 'cause nobody there can do it without sinking their excavators up to the cab.
Brian Gardiner good point!! I could not imagine any other construction companies trying to take on the jobs that Chris has done!
Boy Chris you get the
job done, looks great !
As a fellow operator, you make dredging and pond jobs look so easy. I've always hated dealing with mud and mats. Good job man.
Supply n demand! The name of the game. Good techniques Chris.

Jesse Kincheloe i think those are the old Volvo mats cut in half. Waste not, want not.
Mats are like a fine wine...
Good stuff Chris. Thanks for sharing.
You really need to show the pressure washing job on the equipment after one of these jobs !
Cash for Consideration NatsMan72 , I agree , that would be great .
Yep those videos are satisfying too!
Thanks for sharing. seems like you have been in that complex or one much like not long ago
I like the way you use your mats as giant squeegees. Thanks Chris for the great entertainment.
Thanks for sharing brother!!!
I appreciate watching without having to smell the muck 😜
Man, what a sloppy mess!
I always enjoy watching you do the mat mud smooshing.
Thanks.
Love these video dredging jobs Chris !!! 👏👏👏👍🇬🇧🍺
Big demand, and you're one of the few good at doing it. I find myself leaning in the chair to help balance you out!

That has actually happened with a couple of canals in Britain.
I bet he would love for that to happen 😂 I feel bad for whoever cleans those tracks
i've done a little dredging like that with a yanmar. started at the edge with the bucket backwards and swing the goop to a loader bucket behind me.

Would having an extra long boom and dipper be an advantage to you for the pond dredging.
Anybody up for making some mud pies 🤣🤣, Chris you got this muck under control, great job see you on the next one take care stay safe god bless
I think you need either larger mats, or that long arm excavator you used quite some time back.
Master of goop handling. So skilful.

Pretty slick using the mat 👍🏻 I would agree it has to be aggravating it gets on everything and splatters when you dump it

Even providing seats for any spectators, very thoughtful Chris. LOL.

you need a mini-me for the mini and the mini mats! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Waiting for Chris to pop a periscope out of that Blob!!😂

Experience pays off !
I’ve never seen you side swiping before. It’s 1 of them things you know you really shouldn’t, but sometimes you just can’t help it!
Why's that, does it strain the machine ? Thanks.

Chris, that wire you moved may indicate they had a fountain pump out there somewhere.
HAD being the operative word, there.

new movie title Letsdig18 lost in mud ... you sure do find the muddy spots ... great video ..
Looks like it about time for a change.
