Hauntingly beautiful indeed. I have no doubts Kathleen Ferrier's voice will be admired in all future: a voice which will move hearts regardless of the general taste of the times. Aren't we the best example, more than 60 years after her sad and untimely death.

Wow, I must have heard this recording for a thousand times, or even more. Especially from 42 minutes and so on, it just gives me goosebumbs... Shivering and hauntingly beautiful!
What a simply glorious voice, totally unique and gone much too soon. I have to be in robust mood to listen. Almost everything she sings is sad and knowing her life story, well you need to start off in good spirits, the experience is well worth the risk of a tear or three. We will not hear another like her and anyway tastes move on, I doubt she would be appreciated now.
Because only wrote one great work & that lacks the dramatic dynamism of his contemporary Mozart; Schubert would not be remembered if he had only written operas.
this heavenly voice is incomparable...
Fraîche comme une rose, jolie comme un cœur et une voix angélique,… ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Her very brave singing when suffering cancer...what a classic performance..

It's always the same. I put on some great music to accompany me with my work (I am a translator). After a few minutes I give up working... :)

Is this the Decca 1947 Glyndebourne record, or the later live Holland broadcast?
Quina tragèdia per a tots nosaltres la seva prematura desaparició!
Sounds like Catalan?

Kathleen Ferrier, my love. Gluck: beautiful music, full of inspiration. How and why was Gluck pushed back to "2nd line" of composers?

Ritka szép hangja volt Kathleen Ferriernek, de a felvételeken javítani kellene.
