"plant parent". What an expression! This describes all. I will be away for a long time and intend painting red spots on the plants that may be watered once a week. The green spots on plants that require regular watering. Rest I will have to leave to God. After all rarely we see a loving "step-parent"

Excellent tips! Three cheers for you, Madam! I am going out on vacation for 10 days and was worried about my 40+ plants in the balcony. Summer is approaching and having a plant sitter may not be desirable if she misses even a day of watering for some emergency at her end. I also visited amazon for the same purpose but was not convinced with some of the self-watering systems and also do not have the time for them to arrive. Your video is absolutely superb. You have a very very pleasant and convincing way of explaining in a simplistic and logical way. You describe briefly but completely and the video is very accurate and easy to follow. I am going to use your bottle in the plant, wick system, bucket system and tray with a bottle DIY ideas for different types of plants. These should help me out for the days I am out on vacation.
One suggestion - you can make your video perfect if you can experiment with different systems and give an approximate idea as to how much water is taken up on average by a plant during different seasons like winter, summer, monsoon, etc. For example for an 8-inch planter of Rose plant, one liter of water for a week would be fine when the temperature is say 40 degrees. This does take some effort, but that information would be invaluable to many people who are going to use these DIY systems with the wrong capacity bottles or water resources. Just a thought for perfection... (I am a Professor...) but hearty congratulations on your superb video!

I am moving to Canada in January on study visa. After 2 years when I'll be done with my study, my parents will come to visit me. And I am watching this video now, as I love my plants. I don't know why, but I am always concerned about them that how will they get water when no one would be at home for long. 😅 I have more than 25 pots at home with beautiful plants, which I am taking care of from the last 5 years. The methods you shared with us was useful though. Loved the Wick hack under self watering system. I'll manage it by connecting it with a big container with regular flow of water droplets through water tank and fresh tap water. I know it's too early but got releived a bit finally. Thanks 😅

Hi everyone I tried this when I was a month away from my dear ones. I had arranged someone to refill the container once a week. Ofcourse you can arrange a bigger container as per your requirements. This system doesn’t work for plants like Zz, Sanseveria, etc. Hence were asked to water once in 15 days. With these arrangements all of them were still awaiting my return happily 😊

My calathea has been infested ever since I got it in October, I saw one drying leaf and one root maggot that time and so I changed the soil completely and divided it in to two but now after just one month. I saw one big maggot each in both of them and some white insects on leaf and stem. Again I have thoroughly washed it.. nd placed both of them in clean soil. Do you think I should keep them or will they survive this time or should I dispose them so that my other plants don't get infested.

The Spot on Video I like ideas of self irrigation system which you highlighted, but slight worried about the idea of the Kitchen and Washbasin Pot slight filled with water, you never know about that the sinks can really can hold weight plants and water a span of a week. They might get damage. I like the idea of the bifurcation of the plants according per their nature and their requirement. An individual can only rely on only such people has a same love and affection towards plants and nature, that is how the things gos well. I agree the idea of the testing self water system back at home, so that you may introduce with other. Bingo Idea of DIY Terrarium. Your tips are always very helpful for plants. Keep doing Good Work Dear My Blessings and Good wishes are always with you. Cheers:)

Hello ma'am there have been a lot of ants in my gardening soil lately. Can you please tell me how to get rid of them, in one part of my house I have red ones eating away my bottle gourd flowers and in another there are black ones.

Shivani, I can tell you what I do. I do a herbal pest control every 6 to 7 months to keep away all pests including ants (believe me it is super effective)... however if you want to know some home remedies that work, I would have to test a few and make a video for you guys somewhere down the line.
