I wish your editing self wasn't so critical of our lovely Charlie. We love ALL of your videos. Every minute! Just the fact that you share even your not so "normal" moments. I think most of us are just like you (only too shy to put ourselves out there) I, myself look forward to all your videos and Instagram posts! Thank you my love! Enjoy your "break". True. I literally just clicked on this video, even though I thought it was an old one. Because the skirt in the thumbnail looks familiar. I still just felt like watching it to relax a bit and maybe get some inspiration for a similar project (I just bought two sets of bed linens at IKEA, that were on sale for almost nothing. Finally enough affordable material for two or three really swirly, voluminous skirts!)

The way you described the kind of change you need is what we call in german 'Tapetenwechsel' - wallpaper change. It literally means, when you are staring at your wallpaper, and you like staring at your wallpaper but you really get restless staring at that wallpaper. But you don't wanna do anything else than staring at your wallpaper, not even stare at someone elses wallpaper. You just need YOUR wallpaper to change so you can stare at it in peace for a while again.
    Or smth like that.

Yeah. It's much colder this year. Plan for low 60's at best. England gets like one week between June (mainly the end of June early July) and August of maybe upper 70s (the one week out of the year I thaw out and every English person I know waves their hand to fan themselves and says, "My, is it warm here? I'm roasting." Code translation for is "Oh my god, its bleeping hot!') if you're lucky.
Hampton court is beautiful, but breezy. (I'm guessing you're going to the RSN for classes). I suggest you pack thick leggings if you have not left yet-just in case. Maybe even a scarf. Not kidding. We had like two days of mild USA weather in greater London, and that place is drafty.

This little travel tip comes from my grandmother.. could have been further but she didn't say where it came from.
Pack what you like in a suitcase.. put that suitcase in a slightly larger one, in case you shop.
When it comes time to fly home.. pack the dirty laundry and mail it home. She did that when they went to Japan in the early 40s.. you know.. before Pearl Harbor. Again for Cuba, when we could still go there and I think Germany too.
Most of the family does this. When I went to Niagara Falls, the Canadian side, I drove over the border the day before I flew, found a mail boxes etc and mailed 2 suitcases home. They insisted they be in a box *eye roll*
Gram always said it was nice to get home and have some rest time before doing the laundry.

Yes, it typically doesn't go over 80 in the peak of summer, and 80 isn't common. Usually 70ish is normal for the "hot days." Ftr , I'm American, so know and understand fully the differencs. You have to remember, England is on the same kind of longitude as mid-Canada! 😂 I know I didn't realise just HOW NORTHERLY England was until I got here. 😂 I knew it was further north, but I figured it was like as far North as New York or maybe even Maine. No. NO! LOL
The Met office is suggesting we're getting another week of summer soon, but they can say that for weeks without it happening. As long as you have a jacket or sweater to throw over, you'll be ok. Raincoat is obviously a good idea. Waterproof footwear greatly encouraged.

I really loved what you said about breaking everything down into steps. I personally find that very helpful/motivating, to sit down and make a list of every single step I need to do in a project. My sewing time has dropped so much since I had kids (thankfully, they're getting old enough now that it's starting to get easier to fit it in again), and sometimes I just really need that mental benchmark of knowing that I just need to complete this step, and then I'm at a good stopping point and can set it aside. It still takes me forever to finish any project that's more than absolutely basic, but I'll get there. It's been fun to follow your England adventures on Instagram!

Sewing a whole edge without stopping is SO satisfying! The green skirt's white bits and pale orange flowers might go well with the paler of the pink shirts. Your dog is a friendly little marshmallow :)

I love both outfits and I think those Palazzo pants can take you anywhere in Europe. You can go into historic churches if you wear the little over top, you can be comfortable wherever you go and you don’t have to shave your legs. Peak life.

Fluidity is good - I wasn't planning on doing ANY sewing at all this summer while I finish my thesis. But then I saw a post on the 18th century sewing Facebook page, et voila, I'm sewing a new dress out of impulse fabric I bought last year! I don't know why I even make a sewing plan for the year, I tend to just do whatever I want after February!😅

Next on your list of makes should be a lightweight. waterproof raincoat with hood and swooshy skirt. You will need it here in the UK. It's raining. Again.

As long as you also pack a light sweater and a couple of plain t-shirts to layer with same (would suggest a brown that would complement both palazzo and skirt), you will be ok. I'm an East coast US girl who lived in England during a "heat wave" (temps in the 90s - being from DC, no humidity UK in the 90s was a breeze!); I needed a sweater in the evenings. That high up on the ol' globe means it's cooler naturally, despite the temperature readings. And yes, it can go from 90s to 60s, dry to damp, etc., in a blink, so better to be prepared with practical layers that you can...layer, as needed! Safe travels!

I think this is the first video that I've watched and been compelled to comment... and the first video I've watched with the closed captioning on... which is awesome by the way! It really sounds like you are writing the captions, and they are cute and funny and lovely. Thank you for being so inspiring and entertaining, and giving lovely extra joy to people who use the captions. Here's hoping you are having the greatest 'break' in England.

My favorite place to visit is the Danish west coast. Every time I get there it feels like coming home.
But in second place is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I've been there in the 90s when the reef was still alive and it was breathtakingly beautiful.
I would really like to visit the coast of Italy. I've visited the Mediterranean Sea in Greece several times. Plus I've visited Italy several times, but only in the north: Milano, Turino, Monte Rosa, Domodossola, Gran Paradiso, Merano, Bolzano, Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Lago di Garda,...
I don't know why but I love the sea and I don't like the mountains. I don't hate them, their existence is okay with me, but I don't want to be there. It took me years to realize that. This year I will visit Denmark, again, but next year I will visit the Italian coast. Finally!

I loved this video. It was fun to just 'craft & chat' as I sat at my desk knitting another Emotional Support Chicken. You've made the split-side skirt so many times, that I didn't mind the whirlwind making; I know I can just go back to old videos for a 'tutorial'.
    Enjoy England!

I quite like weighty skirts and gowns, mostly because I use 10+ yards of fabric just for the skirt of a gown since its a rectangle with minor shaping but also because I want to really experience the “lifting the gown up to walk like a princess” moment. I also use a lot of fabric since I am larger and need the piece to be proportional to my body since Im almost 6 feet tall and really quite large size wise.
