Man, this is like the perfect hiking video. The focus is on the beautiful scenery, but with enough of the hikers shown to draw you in, the narration is engaging and charming but not constant, and no music outside of intros and endings, just beautiful natural sounds. It's so simple, but so many people get it wrong. Very well done, and you guys are just super-likable. Thanks for putting this up. This kind of thing really hits the spot when I'm not able to get out in nature myself but still feeling the draw.
Im so, appreciating watching this. I grew up in Oregon and have hiked this trail amongst many others. This was my backyard however, now I’m living in Southern California just outside of LA . So with that said it’s a nice little trip home when I’m unable to get there in person.
In case you ever make your way back out there, there is a offshoot trail at a clearing on your right, a little ways before that overlook of Punbowl Falls. There is a trail that leads down to the base that is a great place to pack a lunch or go swimming in the warmer months.
Thanks for sharing your adventure guys, we got an attack of vertigo just watching. Surely you must have been wearing parachutes!, so confident! Awesome camera work.
Hi from the UK - Mark (Wye Explorer). The place looks fully immersive. How could you now get involved in this wonderful forest and or valley-ravine setting. Great camp - I liked the tarp and tent set up. Good for utility and hanging out in that pouring rain. How much weight did you carry. I like to go as light as possible. who doesn't? A far out trail that with fantastic water features...absolutely beautiful....you guys had fun. All the best...
+Andy Timinsky Interesting. 30 pounds would be way too much for me. Experienced such 3 days, with 25 pounds, which was already at my physical limits. Every kg more, means several miles less, in the end ! ... probably, up until that moment you cannot move anymore at all .. JOKE :-) ... However, the weight you can carry, actually determines the # of days you can be out. Weight in food, pure nessessity. The good part is, that it becomes lighter, by days ! .. except, when you're foolishly collecting nice stones.. (Auuuuch) lol.
***** Hi Andy, not a bad weight at all....can manage that. Yeah the beauty is what we seek to immerse ourselves in. It's like we get a wash....ATB Mark.
Andy I just hiked that trail last year...pretty awesome...I posted a bunch of footage of some of my hiking exploits recently and was searching on youtube and came across your channel pretty cool
That's a cool video but just so you know once you get out there again... you guys were camped at Wy'East Camp about 5 miles from the trailhead. 7 and a half mile camp is well past Tunnel Falls. Also where it seems that you turned around, just around that bend is Crossover Falls which is just as cool as Tunnel Falls so definitely check that out. Certainly one of the best trails in the world!
Andy Timinsky I hope I will have the chance... since the wildfire burning in the gorge that the teenagers started at eagle creek it may be a long while before we can access a lot of trails
Killer! what a great trip/ we've seen the falls on PCT vids, good to get a better look at the area// when you saw the falls and said "damn" Roxana here said, "no, falls" //doh... hahha.. we want to go there at some point for sure, 6 miles each way is not too bad at all. If you haven't found out by now., yeah that is man made the whole trail is craved, the tunnel is blasted but still impressive and not many places you could make this type of trail.
+Andy Timinsky there should be a sign about a quarter mile in. you must of just passed it. if you were looking down on the falls, the sign should have been located a litter bit back the way you came. it can be slippery in the winter because it is a little steep, but it is well wroth it. Hope you have or will find it.
We hiked Mt. Hood Forest Trail # 440 from the salmon fish hatchery to the 7.5 mile camp. We also jumped on the 434 PCT trail for about a mile. In total we hiked about 18 miles. A beautiful hike none the less.
Thanks. Some of my friends just moved to Portland and I live in Chicago. I hike and they don't but are interested. So I have been trying to help set them up. I want to find a place for them that will get them hooked.
there are salmon in the lower first quarter mile at the hatchery of eagle river but i doubt anything is above any of the falls.. oneanta gorge has fish all the way to the falls..just small cutthroat trout though..10 inches would be a big one..i used to fish this area a whole lot
ive done 13 in a day easily and we didnt even start till 1 pm..so many cool things to see you just want to keep hiking and see whats around the next bend..waterfalls galore, canyons, cliffs, rainforest beauty..its got it all..one of if not the most beautiful trails ive hiked.
Chief Cornerstone I use a Anker external battery charger. You can find them on Amazon for around $40. A 10,000 mAh should be good for about 4 phone charges. Enjoy your hike, it's amazing. Andy
I have hiked this hike probably no less than 20 times and it is truly my favorite hike and you stayed at 71/2 mile camp awesome tunnel falls, high bridge isn't tunnel falls cool? pretty narrow after the falls huh and no it isn't a natural tunnel I live about 40 minutes from here
there are so many but I do recommend OPAL CREEK now that is an impressive hike . if you do decide to take that hike go to the small lake up there that is so worth it that's where I have always camped and bring light tackle fishing gear
This was great! Your videos are wonderful! My daughter just mover to Oregon from the cesspool of LA. She has a very adventurous local-grown boyfriend and they plan to marry soo. She's not too big on the whole camping part either. Wouldn't it be great if girls had a 'girl/boy' switch on them? Or like the headlight sensor in cars where they automatically turn back into girls when the sun sets.
there used to be a cable along the ciff to via ferrata if you wanted with safety..mostly only people with children use it..i didnt see any of it in this video though and i havent hiked this trail since 2003
B e a u t i f u l...thank you!!! =) will be even nicer when you have TH-cam stabilise the video for you... under video...click on enhancements...you will see stabilize button...=)
Too bad a teenager from Ukraine threw fireworks into the canyon and started a fire that burned the entire Eagle Creek canyon. The trail was closed for years. I think it was in 2017.

Awesome ! Thank you for posting this. It was a great way to get in a good hike without leaving my keyboard
Looked like a great trip. The tunnel behind the waterfall was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, I will miss this hike . . . . . I think about what we lost everyday!
Thanks for sharing your adventure! Don't know if I'll ever get around to a backpacking trip like that, so I appreciate the tour.
I grew up in Oregon, I have hiked this trail. It’s glorious! If you ever have the opportunity I highly recommend the adventure.

That was a great trip! Thanks for taking us along.
Beautiful, natural setting ! Thanks for posting ☺️

Nice watch....that wouldn't happen to be a Nixon watch.... Great trip ....even on the rain its beautiful.
Thank you for the video memories of how it was before we lost the entire forrest to fire in 2017.
Carex Pendula Im so sad to hear that. Im going on a 3 month back packing venture around the states next year and this was on my list.
the whole forest is not gone-many trail have reopened
AMAZING video. I grew up in the area!!
Thanks for the video, guys, like it very much
What an incredible trail. Seems amazing to me that parts of the trail arent collapsed or undermined from erosion, especially with all the rainfall..
Was so cute when you asked if the tunnel was natural 😂
Thats some awesome footage a little shake try Olympus cameras or panasonic
gonna do this hike this following summer mid August cant wait to explore it for my self

WyeExplorer Thanks for watching Mark. The forest here has so much beauty to offer. I think my pack weighed in around 30 pounds.

yeah tunnel falls is 6.2 miles
Hola, buenas tomas y buen video
Love the video. I've always wanted to make it out to tunnel falls and never got the chance
Jen Penn it's a beautiful place... Let me say you just got to do it! 👍🏼
Andy Timinsky I hope I will have the chance... since the wildfire burning in the gorge that the teenagers started at eagle creek it may be a long while before we can access a lot of trails
Hi! Great video. Would you mind sharing what msr tent is the one you used? Thanks!
MSR Hubba Hubba NX

you can hike down to punch bowl falls its cool. 5 min out of way from trail, well worth it. heard in vid you said you could not get to it.
Thanks for the comment. How do you get down to it?
Andy

awesome trip. lol love the "I wonder if that's natural " part hahaha I doubt the perfect little tunnel behind the waterfall is natural
4.10.20 coronavirus lockdown. Watching your video. Waiting for the day to get back on trail.
Great video 🤘
What tarp did you use? Is it an eno?
so beautiful thanks
Absolutely beautiful....
Amazing video! Makes me want to follow the spegetti haha What's the name of this trail? Thank for letting me into your hiking journey!
just amazing im going to Oregon
Amazing! What camera is that?
What was that woman up high in the tree holding when she was looking down watching what was going on?
WHAT DID THE eagle creek fire do to this place?
What section of the trail is this and how many miles did you do?
We hiked Mt. Hood Forest Trail # 440 from the salmon fish hatchery to the 7.5 mile camp. We also jumped on the 434 PCT trail for about a mile. In total we hiked about 18 miles. A beautiful hike none the less.

There is plentiful trout above the falls, if you fly fish.
Those trails looked scary narrow. wouldn't want to stumble
Jeffrey Johnson haha, I would agree with you Jeffrey.
-Andy
Have you given any thought to fly fishing during your trips? I'm sure the fish would taste great out of that river.
there are salmon in the lower first quarter mile at the hatchery of eagle river but i doubt anything is above any of the falls.. oneanta gorge has fish all the way to the falls..just small cutthroat trout though..10 inches would be a big one..i used to fish this area a whole lot
I'm trying to find info on camping along this trail. did you just randomly find a place to camp or did you pay for a campsite
The camping is free, you'll find many spots along Eagle Creek. Hope you enjoy it!
Andy
What's the song at the end? Also can you list the gear?
***** awake by tycho
love this place..my first date with my wife was here in 2003 i think it was 6.2 miles in to tunnel falls an another 6.2 back
this is amazing
It really is! I would love to go back.
Hey man what time of year did you backpack this trail? Thinking about doing it in a few weeks.
It was in June. Have fun on your trip.
How lovely! Definitely adding this one to the list of hikes in Oregon I need to do. What time of year was this, may I ask?
18 miles seems doable in a day. Any idea of the total elevation gain and loss? Was this a loop hike or out and back?
Canyon Overlook I can't remember the elevation gain or loss but it wasn't to difficult. The hike is a out and back. Thanks for watching!
-Andy
ive done 13 in a day easily and we didnt even start till 1 pm..so many cool things to see you just want to keep hiking and see whats around the next bend..waterfalls galore, canyons, cliffs, rainforest beauty..its got it all..one of if not the most beautiful trails ive hiked.
my wife would like to know how you kept the battery charged for your trip
Chief Cornerstone I use a Anker external battery charger. You can find them on Amazon for around $40. A 10,000 mAh should be good for about 4 phone charges.

any other good hikes in the portland area i should do when i come up there
there are so many but I do recommend OPAL CREEK now that is an impressive hike . if you do decide to take that hike go to the small lake up there that is so worth it that's where I have always camped and bring light tackle fishing gear
Mike Freeman Check out Oneonta Gorge. Amazing short hike up the gorge to a beautiful waterfall. Take your time over the log jam. You will get wet!
Jerry EastmanI couldn't agree more it is a beautiful hike to the falls
In Oregon did you have to worry about hanging food because of bears?
We have some black bears and not a bad idea to hang the food, but the big concern is more mountain lions than bears. They are excellent climbers.
This was great! Your videos are wonderful! My daughter just mover to Oregon from the cesspool of LA. She has a very adventurous local-grown boyfriend and they plan to marry soo. Another park added on the list of "must visit" haha
gawwd where's the Hand rails on some of these trails??
Shadow Nothing but a free fall to a painful landing. Thanks for watching!
-Andy
there used to be a cable along the ciff to via ferrata if you wanted with safety..mostly only people with children use it..i didnt see any of it in this video though and i havent hiked this trail since 2003
+matanuska high i lied at 12:45 i see the cable..
Cool ! what at the end ?
No Andy, the tunnel under Tunnel Falls is not natural.
RelationshipGoals
well that looked dangerous. I might of crawled it
Next time you might want to check the weather forecast...
Sweet
Was anyone else expecting the blair witch to pop out?
trip can't be better!!
taping the camera on your head will stablize the video. Your head has a balancing system.
Yi An I use a GoPro head mount sometimes otherwise I get lazy and hold the camera or attach it to my trekking pole.
-Andy
B e a u t i f u l...thank you!!! =)
will be even nicer when you have TH-cam stabilise the video for you...

Too bad a teenager from Ukraine threw fireworks into the canyon and started a fire that burned the entire Eagle Creek canyon. The trail was closed for years. I think it was in 2017.
Oregon is absolutely stunning but humans are constantly disappointing.
that place looks sketchy and dangerous.
Dont ever post a beautiful hike like this again. Im liable to spend all my money and go therer
Does your girlfriend or wife make everyone your choices for you watching this video it kind a looks like that
VOTE ! ! TRUMP.
