Nephi Exercises Faith to Obtain Food | 1 Nephi

- Nephi shows his faith by making a new bow and an arrow. Armed with his new bow and a sling with stones, Nephi seeks direction from his prophet-father, Lehi, regarding where to hunt. Lehi repents and seeks the Lord's guidance. As a result, he is able to tell Nephi where to go for food, and Nephi successfully kills wild animals to feed the families.
1 Nephi 16:23-32:
23 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make out of wood a bow, and out of a straight stick, an arrow; wherefore, I did arm myself with a bow and an arrow, with a sling and with stones. And I said unto my father: Whither shall I go to obtain food?
24 And it came to pass that he did inquire of the Lord, for they had humbled themselves because of my words; for I did say many things unto them in the energy of my soul.
25 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came unto my father; and he was truly chastened because of his murmuring against the Lord, insomuch that he was brought down into the depths of sorrow.
26 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord said unto him: Look upon the ball, and behold the things which are written.
27 And it came to pass that when my father beheld the things which were written upon the ball, he did fear and tremble exceedingly, and also my brethren and the sons of Ishmael and our wives.
28 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them.
29 And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was plain to be read, which did give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord; and it was written and changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence which we gave unto it. And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things.
30 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did go forth up into the top of the mountain, according to the directions which were given upon the ball.
31 And it came to pass that I did slay wild beasts, insomuch that I did obtain food for our families.
32 And it came to pass that I did return to our tents, bearing the beasts which I had slain; and now when they beheld that I had obtained food, how great was their joy! And it came to pass that they did humble themselves before the Lord, and did give thanks unto him.

Nephi is awesome! I want to be more like him. Instead of complaining when things get tough, he prays in faith to Heavenly Father, then immediately goes to work.
I thought Nephi was supposed to be huge and muscular, but they cast this guy that looks like he's in dire need of a sandwich? oh well. lol

Nephi learned at a young age... The Lord helps those who help themselves. He loves us but Won't do anything for us we can do for ourselves. I love this Gospel and the strength it gives us to grow in Every way
The Lord is high precision Hebrews 4:12, so he wants us to do things not by our own power but by our power given because of faith in his high precision spirit. Bear, Lion Goliath. Not by might nor by power but by my spirit says the Lord, Zech. 4:6. Notice the candelabra there. We all have seven spirits as a gift from God the most intelligent and precise being the Holy Spirit. Abraham 3;19, Jacobs ladder. Zech. 3 stone. Pray for me that I can get these ideas across to people in my church, like the Bishop. I live in Toronto Australia. Also consider the rainbow of Noah ROYGBIV and Joseph's coat of many colours. Articles of faith 9.

I have read The Book of Mormon many times. Each time I read The Book of Mormon my faith in Jesus Christ grows and is strengthened.

This one hit me a bit harder than last time I watched it. I guess it's because of resent videos I found on the Book Of Mormon last night my faith is being challanged. Yet I know that with my faith all things will be good.
If we remain faithful, challenges and doubts to our belief pass like a storm, and you'll become stronger afterward in your faith.
There are lies published about the Book of Mormon everywhere, that is why, same as in Nefi's time, You need to study it, and then pray about it, until God himself through the holy ghost, tells you it is true. Then it won't matter what you read or hear about the Book of Mormon, because God will have told you himself. He will lead anyone who truly desires it, to the truth.
The greatest attribute of God is high precision, Hebrews 4:12, bear lion Goliath. not by might nor by power but by my [precision] spirit says the lord -- Zech. 4:6. I define high precision as exact placement and timing -- like playing handball at school. If we love to be precise we love God -- and we can tell any atheist that. If we worship high precision then God will bless us abundantly. To worship means to choose to increase our precision to solve any difficulty. To place our faith in God is to place our faith in high precision.

Nephi is full of faith and acts with faith continuously. He is a great example of how we should lead our daily lives by acting in faith. #FaithToAct
After what happened in the previous episode Nephi did something about it and Father Lehi prayed and the Lord told him "Look at the Liahona" and Father Lehi did as directed and he told them they have rejected the Lord and lost their faith thats why the Liahona was acting screwy in the previous episode. Nephi after he seen his father touch the Liahona went and made a new bow and when he came back he said "Dad where do you want me to go?" and Father Lehi looked unto the Liahona and Nephi went and did what was commanded and found them food and they had enough to get them to Bountiful so they could build their ship.

What happened? The video shows the brothers returning to Jeruselem to obtain family records.......not how Nephi Exercises Faith to Obtain Food. Ive seen this one and will search for the 1 Nephi 16:23-32. I love these video's and will watch them over and ovoer again! With love in the gospel!!!!
I really thought they didn't need to create fire and cook their food. Thank you very much for creating these videos. These are far better than the TV Drama Series.

Nephi acting like a man should!!!
Nephi had great faith and great power from God in order to make a bow from the wilderness. Have we got great faith today? If we had faith we would believe it is possible to live to 900 years of age as it was possible in the beginning. If we say it is impossible now because 6000 years have passed then we lie to ourselves. Similarly, we excuse ourselves from sin by saying we just grow old automatically -- that's an alibi, faith in a lie. Science makes the lie worse by attempting to explain ageing with genetics. Why can't we face up to the fact people are getting sin-sick not old? Where is our faith? Part of our problem is the fact we do not fully comprehend the essential nature of God. That God is extremely precise. By precise I mean exact timing and exact placement. Hebrews 4:12 says for the word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing....' David had a great precision-power from God: bear, lion, Goliath. Precision also gave him great wisdom with soldiers and the king who wanted to kill him. Let us meditate on Genesis 29:20 to get another picture of the power of God: Jacob served 7 years for Rachel but they seemed like just a few days because of his love for her -- the power of God is never boring! We can infer that time must have flown for Adam and Eve, Noah and his wife, Enoch and the rest.
Nephi only made one arrow. He must've had a lot of faith that he would get his prey the first time!

A steel bow?! 😂 Joseph Smith didn't do his homework.
You forget that the Lehi lived during the Iron age where tools, swords and even bows were made. Do your homework.
You are correct that Joseph Smith didn't do homework when translating the gold plates. He just translated them. If he had been able to do research about ancient steel, I don't think examples of steel that old had been discovered yet, though we have found some in more recent years.
