This made my day. I love the beautiful vintage MM working and the history behind. I hope the owner knows how lucky he his to have that fine piece of history
Glad you liked it. The owner knows very well how rare this tractor is. His grandfather farmed with it. Watch for a full season of this farm and it’s Moline line up.
Wow BTP you knocked that one out of the part love the history stuff and I didn't know about the Plainsmen that was a pretty cool looking tractor. I can't imagine how hard you worked to get one of each of the colors on film and that really means a lot at least to me.
Never seen one of these before, until today, there’s one for sale at a local auction, but it’s red and white, said white on the front we walked around and saw MM on the back, I thought it was pretty cool. The auction is Saturday the 14th.
This video is what makes your utube channel one of the best.Never would have run across this tractor just driving up and down country roads.Well not right away? Thanks.
One might conclude White Motors was a Jonah as none of the tractor brands/makes they once owned have disappeared . IAC, that's a nice example of one in traditional M-M colors . Interesting to see the lack of sound deadening and ' softening ' of the cab interior surfaces common to all brands offering closed station units in that era . Thanks again for a great video and summary of the model !
If that Beautiful Minneapolis-Moline/MM isn’t the most classic one i’ve ever seen I don’t know what is ! ! ! Yeah just don’t get no better in that when comes the classic vintage tractors !
I've never seen this tractor in person or photos. Very special treat to learn something knew in a field I thought I was pretty up to date. Thanks for your video.
Wow, I never knew they made a four wheel drive Minneapolis Moline. Thanks for sharing. The shape of the cab is very similar to a White 4-150 we had, can see where that came from. Sounds nice too.
You can definitely see the evolution between an A4T and a Field Boss. The 4-150 has a lower profile. I got to film a 4-210 this fall. I hope to get to see a 4-150 in action sometime.
Great video! We own one of the heritage plainsman versions and a mm a4t-1600 in red but you can see the green coming through the faded red paint lol. Still fun to turn some dirt with the old girls
That was great! Thanks for the video! I did not know White Motors bought Euclid back in the day. I had to look that up - very interesting story of how and why they bought it from GM. Thanks for sharing!
the anti trust laws that were used against gm were just a load of shit monopoly my ass they made an outstanding product that everybody wanted to buy sour grapes by their competitors more like
We used nothing by Cockshutt and White growing up in Saskatchewan West of Saskatoon in the 1980's and 1990's. Love the reference, wish there were more!
I was at a tractor wreckers today in Saskatchewan, they have an intact Oliver 2655. I'm not positive it's a 2655 but is definitely and articulated Oliver of that era
I find these videos fascinating being a farm boy of the 1960-70’s. A quick detailing of the implements they are pulling would be interesting to me. The farmer I worked for in the early 1970’s had one of the first 4wd John Deere tractors in Grant County Oklahoma- a big jump from the 4020 I had been operating for him.
Growing up the farmer across they street had a bunch of m.m. never forget the g1000 that pulled the chopper during harvest season with a straight pipe that sucker hummed
That’s a good question. I don’t mind dislikes you can’t please everyone but I wish they would share what they did not like. That’s cool your neighbor had an A4T.
bigtractorpower what’s not to like about an A4T? All these older 4wd tractors were pioneers in their day. They represented what each of these companies had to offer in advanced horsepower. I prefer them over the modern ones. To me, it’s heavenly to be around these machines in the field.
Very nice video. While diffidently older tractors, pretty sure there was a ac unit at the top rear of the cab on the yellow one and one of the units had a 3 pt hitch and pto. I think a person could find a use for one off these tractors even today.
That sheet metal is just like my 67 U302 super looking down the hood. Except it's taller off the ground and has 3 times the power haha. The commenters saying the cab is noisy.... I mean tractors came from the factory with mufflers in the 60's. Obviously the owner of this unit doesn't mind the extra noise. I personally think most tractors just sound better with a muffler(except maybe the old gas powered 4 cyl. Waukeshas in the old Olivers), but to each their own. Looking at all these tractors, White wasn't afraid to cross Oliver and MM parts in the later years. There's no mistaking the big old square jugs of the 6 cyl. MM engine under the hood though.
We have a White Plainsman Diesel engine just like the one shown in this video, 5 stars on the rear fender as well. No cab on it. We also have a Minneapolis Moline G1000 vista which I believe is also rare these days. Great video!
bigtractorpower Unfortunately not anymore. We were a dairy Farm in Connecticut, but as you know with milk prices and changing of generations it’s very hard to keep a dairy operation going. The farm sits idle now but the tractors are all still there. Both the plainsman and the Vista have had their engines turned up and re-built along with stronger clutches. The G-1000 is called a “vista” because it sits higher than the standard G-1000. The seat is level with the top of the fenders giving the operator a better view. Thanks for all your videos there are not many people like you who appreciate those classic tractors. Let me know if you would like some pictures of those tractors I could email them to you!
Nice tractor. We ran Olivers which was also part of white. The disc seems a little small for that big boy. Worked the farm from 12 yr old until I graduated. Then the army and then 42 yrs of driving semis kept me off the farms. Lol.
The yellow A4T is rare. I sure would like to film the Oliver 2655 version. Oliver built great tractors. This disk chisel takes some power to run at 9-12 inches deep. At 169 hp in hill sides like this farm land the tillage team is well matched. This field was harvested a John Deere Hillside combine.
Great video chapter. Like the MM color paint scheme best. Great job, who ever restored the mighty Mo. I appreciate you finding these early 70s treasures of farming day's past. God Bless America & BTP & Merry Christmas 🎅🎄🇺🇸🚜👍
My family used to have three of these two yellow and one red, the red 1900 was bought from my familys farm before Mike Verhulst turned it into a 1900 as well i remember climbing all over that tractor
I remember seeing one of these, on propane, working ground, west of Jetmore, Kansas, about ten years ago. Dad and I were astonished that a big four drive tractor was on propane! I imagine that it used quite a few gallons of LP an hour!
Moline was the biggest in LP tractors. They sold a bunch of LP 2wds. I believe there were only 62 LP 4wds built. I have an LP Oliver 2655 featured here on the channel. It is the same as the Moline just painted green.
bigtractorpower, I’ve read about them taking the 585 ci engines out and installed the larger lp industrial engines in them at dealerships and some farmers also did this. Seen one of those examples at Washington, Kansas.
yes I can remember when white farm tractors were white and yellow now 2 day U don't see them anymore its been a many day since I seen a white tractor white and yellow I still can remember them just like it was yesterday that was many years ago OMG 12 2O 2O22
That’s a nice looking tractor! I always like seeing the old tractors out in the field. I was just thinking, isn’t that tractor kinda big to only have 143 pto horsepower? It’s only got 123 drawbar horsepower as well. That would mean that a John Deere 4455 has more drawbar horsepower than the MM and an International 1466 has more pto power. It’s a nice old tractor either way, thanks for another great video!
Hi. Nice video of this good looking tractor and info about all his variations. You talk in this video of the Cockshutt and I saw also a drawing of this Cockshutt tractor. There is a discussion going on now about his existence. Some say that the Cockshutt 4WD was never in production and therefore never seen in the field, but others say that for example the green Cockshutt in the green Oliver color was seen in Canada before with the Cockshutt decals on it. Wat is your information about this Cockshutt articulated tractor?
Thank you BTP. Nice looking tractor. I grew using a U and Z Minneapolis Moline on the farm. So when are we going to see your new tractor or are you going to post video at Christmas for your subscribers. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great vid, never seen or been in A4T 1600, what does it really compare to Steiger in steering n power that applies to ground? I guess with tractors in vid they must like them for servicing as they still operating them. It sad not see this brand around anymore.
@Aiden Magnuson I always thought the engine design was similar to the big cam Cummins with three heads other than you don't hear the detonation clatter
So was this a MM original that White put into their line as they merged Olive ,MM and Cockshutt or was this unit developed by the White motor company and sold as MM and Oliver prior to dropping those brand names . Never drove a MM but I always loved the color and looks of them

@@bigtractorpower production ended in 72, or did they just drop the Oliver and Minneapolis names in favor of the white name plate and carry on with nearly the same tractor ?
Not sure if he said, but the 1600 diesels were naturally aspirated, right? I noticed the yellow one had a turbo decal, the intake moved to the right side of the engine, and it sounded like it had a turbo. I take it the owner must have added one?
This tractor was my dad's dream tractor back in the '70s. He preferred the yellow from the red because it just looked traditional MM.
This made my day. I love the beautiful vintage MM working and the history behind. I hope the owner knows how lucky he his to have that fine piece of history

Excellent video. It's nice seeing an old tractor in great shape doing real work.
What a rare find! A real tractor.
Great Video.
It is a rare one for sure.

A very well done video. Plus the new information about a Cockshutt model and an even bigger beast.
The Plainsman is a neat variation. I hope to film one in the field working some day.
Such a beautiful tractor, just love how the sun shines on that paint job.
It is a stand out.
If that Beautiful Minneapolis-Moline/MM isn’t the most classic one i’ve ever seen I don’t know what is ! ! ! Yeah just don’t get no better in that when comes the classic vintage tractors !

She also was pregnant with my brother one fall and still packed silage

The A4T is a classic. This is a well cared for machine.
MM built some tough tractors............
They sure did.
Awesome tractor. Don't see many of those anymore.
I love this channel!

What a awesome video !
Excellent video ,superb tractors btw a fair few White Plainsmen were sold in Australia.
I don't know where you find these great tractors to video, But I am glad you do. Another great video.

There were a few, around 20 to 23, of them that had an 800 cubic inch LP MM irrigation engine installed from the factory.

We had 3 MM Tractors. ZB,UB,and aU302. Actually 2 others. A 445 utility and a 5 Star. All of these tractors were used on our Diary Farm.
Very cool line up. I like MM tractors.
Nice looking tractor decent looking Cab.. MM needed a turbocharged engine..
This is a golden oldie for sure. You should check out Mn Milleniel Farmer. He’s got a mine moe tractor to.

There are A4Ts out there with the 800 engine. They are dealer conversions. It was not a factory option.
I met a guy here in Iowa that has a White LP Plainsman!
Very cool. Plainsman seem to be the hardest variation to find.

So the 504 LP could be converted to diesel because the engine is high compression according to factor specs ?
Mike Verhulst was a very smart man when it came to Minneapolis Moline. He will be missed.
I wish I had met him at Rantoul. I am glad I got to film him plowing. His passing was a great loss.
Spent quite a few hours at the wheel of a MM G950.
Very cool. I filmed a 950 on a gravity wagon this fall hauling corn.
What would today’s farms look like if Oliver and Moline survived on their own and White not messed things up?

Nellson Stout I thought so. I haven’t heard of MM using turbos equipped from the factory.
Great video! Are you coming back to Evansville, IN anytime soon?
It sad today to see all those tractor brand gone and the fact that today you have only a few brand choise
nice!
I'm guessing you could get after market weights if you desired?
You could but MM did not equip the tractor with weight brackets so you would have to modify it.
sweet
I'm surprised that a tractor that big had only 169 H.P.
In the early 70s that was good sized hp. I agree it seems like it should be 225
They did not stand up in wheat country
Rare beast
It is.
I think some White garden tractors were made and are quite rare too.
The scenery in this video is awesome. was in in the western Ky area? Really beautiful country.
This was in North East Iowa neat Dyersville. Lots of rolling hills.
