I recently just watched the old botched Tacoma review that you did back in the day jack. Just wanted to say, Im glad that you are able to understand to how to do reviews now. You were really frustrated, glad that you can enjoy doing these now.
I drove one with an automatic and absolutely fell in love. It's comfortable and fast, the engine is intoxicating. And for most normal people buying one used will think it's the nicest thing they ever owned.
Driving the non-V in Europe. It was officially sold here. People love it. The "art & science" design ages pretty well. The presence of the car is really quite impressive actually. In Europe.
As soon as I watched, I commented on how they love to talk down on American cars, particularly GM interiors. Look at Mark’s demeanor on this video as compared to any of his other reviews. It really makes you wonder what his real beef is with American cars. I honestly don’t think it’s just the quality of the interiors...I think it’s a little deeper than that.
Love my car. Put a short throw shifter in mine and it made such a difference. This video is very accurate about the car. After my first cts v in a automatic, I went to go find the manual. Took a year but I found one.
Marc your camera work and thumbnails have me on autotempest and Craigslist after every used car review you do lately, and you’ve really improved since 2015-2016
Thanks for the video. I own a 2011 CTS-V and love it. I almost bought a 2016 CTS-V but changed my mind I could not justify buying a 65K car that has just slightly better performance. I'll stick to my good old fun V2. Cold air intake with Corsa exhaust sounds amazing!
I owned a 2011 CTS-V manual for a little over a year. Mine had issues with the seats ROCKING fore and aft, which was not unheard of with the Recaro upgraded seats. The traction management in the gen 2 was also a huge upgrade over the Gen 1 CTS-V. New the interior wasn't as bad as it is now 9 years later I am sure.
I have probably watched this video 20 times and enjoyed it every single time. I will probably watch it another 100 times and enjoy it thereafter. I want this car so badly.
I always neglect to ‘Like’ videos and often just move on when there’s a pleas message “please like and subscribe and hit the bell and...”. This channel is is so well done and deserves to be at the forefront of the industry. I like your videos and I also ‘Like’ them. Thanks for doing this.
I still miss my Gen 1 2005 CTS V manual. Fun car, mufflers removed. Flew under the radar. Matrix car. "Only" 405 HP but everything worked great and handled great. Not as much fluff or HP as the gen 2 but it didn't have a bunch of rattles or quality issues. Solid. Sold it in 2012 and I'm sure the buyer was happy with his ride.
Mark and Jack's chemistry, especially doing the driving portion or the reviews -- it's almost magical man. The launch -- ha! I can watch that over, and over,.......and I have.
In case anybody is wondering how fast they're going, with the manual transmission: - top of 3rd is 90 mph - top of 4th is 120 mph - top of 5th is ~160 mph
Awesome car! 07 to 14 interior build quality is indicative of the era... It was a transitional period, where the engine performance was better in the high end cars, but the interiors were TRASH all over the spectrum.
@@Jacobk66 They're not. Go look at an E92 M3's interior. It's nothing but hard plastic from top to bottom. The CTS-V's interior in the same time period is definitely better.
Yeah, and it's a shame because the design is quite decent. It's just the materials and assembly that totally suck. They always looked far worse in person than in pictures.
Cadillac is a very weird brand within GM - it feels like most of their cars are designed by the typical GM suits and pencil pushers trying to make a "premium" product that they can try to sell against BMW or Lexus buyers but at discount prices, but there is a small contingent of Cadillac engineers who are always at the back trying to take whatever ho-hum products and go absolutely NUTS. The CTS-V, the ATS-V, the short lived CT6-V (and the even shorter running Blackwing 4.2 V8) as well as the upcoming CT4-V Blackwing & CT5-V Blackwing all fall into this category. I expect Cadillac to make close to nil or even post losses developing these cars & GM suits are using every excuse to get them cut from the lineup, but somehow these cars are put into production.
Nvm the caddy. Mark, I have been watching your content for some time now. Your channel is truly a gem of the automotive channels on TH-cam for enthusiasts and petrol heads alike.
I had a 05 CTS-V for 12 years and over 120,000 miles. Given what it was, it was the best car I've ever owned and usually 20 mpg. The only downside for my '05 was the engine mounts and rear diff bushing which needed to be replaced every 60,000 miles. They are not cheap and just another cost of a powerful engine with a Cadillac/BMW ride. Other than that it was just tires, fluids and brakes. I really have never much cared about the interior but then my first new car was a '72 Karman Ghia.
I had a V1, there is something special about the V series, low production numbers, manual transmission, practicality, CHEAP insurance, reliability, insane power, they check all the boxes besides interior.
Great review, but I feel like you guys seem to forget, or only briefly touch on, that this is a nearly 12 year old car (in design). If this was a 2020 MY yeah I'd laugh also at the architecture, interior design and functionality. But it's not, this car was from 2009 with at that time only a few years old architecture.
One year old. It was introduced in the 2008 CTS. And yeah I agree, there was a lot of comparison to 2020 model year cars which was unfair. This is not a 2020 car, it's a 2009 car. And in 2009 it was the fastest 4 door car on the planet, and the interior was MUCH better than most cars of that era. It's not just plastic, they didn't even mention the soft touch materials or the suede accents. Like the entire top of the dash is soft touch, not hard plastic. And they compared it to a contemporary M3, which would be a 2009 E92 M3, was that a joke? Go look at the interior of an E92 M3. Nothing but hard shitty plastic all the way through it. The CTS-V's interior was a noticeable step up from cars like the E92. Plus the M3's shifter was a lot worse, and it was a MUCH slower car than the CTS-V. I feel like the savagegeese guys didn't do a real good job of maintaining context or remembering history accurately.
Vernon Price ; Well said and I fully agree. Had one of these as an automatic new and at the time it was hard to beat inside or out. Still a fun review though.
@@vernonprice5986 I dunno about that, similar era imports (BMW/Benz/Audi) had better built interiors and being the car was meant to compete with them, I think it's a fair complaint. As someone who years ago pined for a CTS-V, got a nice well built little German car (Mk7.5 Golf R), now when I look at stuff like this it looks very cheap and low rent especially considering what they tried to do with it.
@@Shintsu2 You say imports had better built interiors while clearly having no experience with the CTS-V from that era. All you need to do is look at pictures of an E92 interior compared to a CTS-V interior. The difference is drastic, the E92 is just plastic from top to bottom, the design is utilitarian and pedestrian. The CTS-V's interior is objectively superior in every way - design, materials, quality. Because it's just a trope for people to say German interiors are better without actually doing the legwork or research to verify that. The fact is that in 2009, BMW interiors were pretty shitty. They were just hard plastics up and down, and the design was really boring and uninspired. When the CTS-V came out in 2009, it was a revelation, in context. It was a MUCH higher rent interior than what you were getting from German cars in the same price range. Yes, TODAY the interiors are better. In 2009, the CTS-V's interior was better than what you were getting in German cars.
I've got a 2012 manual wagon and love the car. It was the first real performance car I've had. I don't think the interior is that cheap. I used to think the car handled amazingly but after getting my wife her 911 4S and comparing the 2. The wagon does feel every bit of its weight when compared to a true good handling car. My wagon has just basic bolt-ons and puts 630 at the wheels and it is one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. I daily drive the car and can't imagine trading it for something else to daily drive and take family trips in that is as fun.
Do what I did - get a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs for your wagon and then replace all the suspension bushing with poly bushings. The V wagon handled well to begin with, but doing those things really sharpens it up.
Another great video, Mr. Gueese! Love that you make great content with older cars, like modern musicians play classical music with a different interpretation of the music composed way back then. Love that your content seem well scripted but is perceived just as casual as conversations between friends. These are just some thoughts from a long-term fan since your FR-S videos. Look forward to more like these!
As a "10 CTS-V M6 owner. This is all pretty spot on haha. Delete the mufflers, short throw shifter, and an intake. Perfect car. Add a pulley, injectors, and a tune? Now you're making 620 at the wheels. Best bang for your buck. I got mine for 26k. Can't find a better deal on a baby charger hellcat.
Love the review but a few things you guy miss interpreted: 1) 6L90 is pretty bulletproof and people have run 8s on stock units 2) mag rides are not that expensive, got mine for $250 each and super easy to install. Great car love mine, but you need the recaros though to hold you in properly.
I agree on the 6l90s being bulletproof and fast in a straight line. But for any sort of manual control of them they are pretty poor and slow to respond. Particularly when compared to a modern 8 speed auto or dual clutch. Sadly automatics historically age like milk particularly when in a performance application.
Mark you are plastic man...spanning the whole vehicle spectrum from Kia Rio to Hellcats and Cadillac sleepers! Wow, this was entertaining and I wouldn't expect anything less. 👍

let this sink in even though it has issues panel gaps and the interior is not as nice this car still holds more value than its German counter parts LOL but as a young guys the interior is far ahead of any normal car its even ahead of light luxury cars like Acura and infiniti. I cant touch the germans though, as a guy they pretty much drives only honda/acura and toyota/ the cts V is not as bad as it seems.

Thanks robert. Its been a struggle over the last year but i am slowly getting the hang of it.
“A Chevy Express van!!!” “Oh, god.” Walks away. 😂
1:00 - “My chrome pipes are non conforming”
Thank you
The sexual tension between SavageGrease and Jack BMW is through the roof on this one .
You just don’t get this level or sarcasm and irony in car reviews anywhere else. Love it, well done gents.
I love my manual CTS-V wagon. Good video
In Europe.
The amount of bad sassy sarcasm in these reviews, I feel like im watch Gilmore Girls.
I always thought mark looked like a lorelai
You nailed it Miss Salsa. Two little girly men, and I thought chicks didn't like cars.
Great job guys My Favorite Caddy ever. The Coupe Version is better looking. It's a gem really.
It’s great that we can still have fun sedans like the CTS-V
Too bad GM has stopped making them.
@@timothycc711 CT4 and CT5-V are coming with manual transmissions
I owned a 2011 CTS-V manual for a little over a year. Mine had issues with the seats ROCKING fore and aft, which was not unheard of with the Recaro upgraded seats. The traction management in the gen 2 was also a huge upgrade over the Gen 1 CTS-V. New the interior wasn't as bad as it is now 9 years later I am sure.
I have probably watched this video 20 times and enjoyed it every single time. I will probably watch it another 100 times and enjoy it thereafter. I want this car so badly.
Dave Matthews and Cadillac CTS-V are two things I never thought I'd hear together in the same sentence 😅
. . . and I'd rather not!
"buy here pay here lots, wet dream" as someone who has worked in auto sales for a decade, this is 110% true.
I am planning to buy this car, a used one.. 4 door, rwd, manual, caddy luxury... Oerfext recipe for me
Good video. I still like those Gen2 6M CTV.. I wish SRT would make a Hellcat 300 Sedan, and add the Tremec 6M that is in my Challenger Hellcat.
Also, I'm happy to see viewer car reviews making a bit of a comeback. Much better than making sure you review every last crossover on the market.
I always neglect to ‘Like’ videos and often just move on when there’s a pleas message “please like and subscribe and hit the bell and...”. This channel is is so well done and deserves to be at the forefront of the industry.
I like your videos and I also ‘Like’ them.
Thanks for doing this.
Thanks, I never ask to like or subscribe. If people like it, they should do it because they want to.
Looks more fun than any other german car honestly
The most genuine smile I’ve seen on Marks face.
Acceleration giggles are my favorite part of these fast car reviews.
Even if it gains electrical issues, there are guaranteed to be less than an M5 or AMG.
Best part is, this is before the Cue system!! Knobs and buttons for everything! Great video and a very good car. Always wanted a wagon version.
Jack turns into a little boy when he has fun driving a car. Even had a voice crack in there after that launch 😂
Mark and Jack's chemistry, especially doing the driving portion or the reviews -- it's almost magical man. The launch -- ha! I can watch that over, and over,.......and I have.
Owner, bought an older V2, with mods car is 800whp with total investment of $40k. Can’t beat it. Merica
In case anybody is wondering how fast they're going, with the manual transmission:
- top of 3rd is 90 mph
- top of 4th is 120 mph
- top of 5th is ~160 mph
Not even Cadillac is spared from the obesity epidemic
You two are the Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsey of car reviewers. Way too brutal on this car.
I was just notified of the video and yet comments exist from 22 hours ago!
That’s for members only. Plebs get access next day.
What? D'you think you're such a big shot now, because you got a
Cadillac?
just take a ride!
Is this from Seinfeld? Or King of Queens? Feels like it's from either one of those shows.
Seinfeld, when Jerry bought his parents a Cadillac
What do you think, I’ve never ridden in a Cadillac before?? Believe me, I’ve ridden in a Cadillac hundreds of times. Thousands!!
I love the seamless juxtaposition of masterful production quality, insightful narrative, and 12 year-old boy fart humor.
That happiness when they launch it
Awesome car! 07 to 14 interior build quality is indicative of the era... It was a transitional period, where the engine performance was better in the high end cars, but the interiors were TRASH all over the spectrum.
It was also typical for GM, they've always had some of the worst interiors. Even a simple little Mazda 3 has a better interior than this.
I dont remember gm ever having good interiors
Except I think the BMW/Audi interiors from this same time period are really good, even now.
I expect Cadillac to make close to nil or even post losses developing these cars & GM suits are using every excuse to get them cut from the lineup, but somehow these cars are put into production.
it took me almost 5 minutes to get the frame to freeze on “my chrome pipes are non conforming”. well played sir.
We need an STS V review
11:00 perfect timing
Nice price, how many miles on yours? I just crossed 40k.
Can’t wait for the Acura TL type s review.
goddamn that launch was saucy
Best SavGoose review in a long time. Excellent intro; viscous writing, and ... genuine joy from Mark?
Love the review but a few things you guy miss interpreted: 1) 6L90 is pretty bulletproof and people have run 8s on stock units 2) mag rides are not that expensive, got mine for $250 each and super easy to install. Great car love mine, but you need the recaros though to hold you in properly.
I agree on the 6l90s being bulletproof and fast in a straight line. But for any sort of manual control of them they are pretty poor and slow to respond. Particularly when compared to a modern 8 speed auto or dual clutch. Sadly automatics historically age like milk particularly when in a performance application.
For some reason GM has all of the sudden a good upcoming where they start to make good cars other than the Corvette like the Cadillac CTS-V
Mark you are plastic man...spanning the whole vehicle spectrum from Kia Rio to Hellcats and Cadillac sleepers! Wow, this was entertaining and I wouldn't expect anything less. 👍
6:52 556hp, to be exact.
I had a CTSV1. Always wanted this gen...settled for a C6 Z06....but what a killer car, still.
The CTS-V Gen 2 is an amazing platform from which to build a top tier Sport Touring MONSTER!!! My 13 CTS-V Coupe A6 makes 741rwhp!!!!
One of those days in an underbody segment like this I'm expecting Jack to be grabbing Mark by the shirt and pulling him to the rear segment.
8:13 This is such a funny unintended editing easteregg. 😂 - Launch: gas tank near full. 8:46 Gas tank near empty. - (Also reveals how much editing trickery is going on. Also at 10:30 where Mark goes invisible.)
Can you guys review on the Gen 3 CTS-V (2016-2019)? I’m really interested in your opinion on it.
Love that standard! I don't notice any rattles in my V. To me, as nice as a Vette. GMs home run! I like a heavy car, people are driving over the yellow line, on their phones. "Sleeper" that the State Cops don't know about, Thank God! Great video. Thanks for that!
let this sink in even though it has issues panel gaps and the interior is not as nice this car still holds more value than its German counter parts LOL but as a young guys the interior is far ahead of any normal car its even ahead of light luxury cars like Acura and infiniti. I cant touch the germans though, as a guy they pretty much drives only honda/acura and toyota/ the cts V is not as bad as it seems.
The CTS-V is for the accountant that still has the teenager inside. The grins say it all when launching the CTS-V or drifting around the corners.
