🌱 Hey! Thank you SO MUCH for watching my first TH-cam video! 🎉 It seriously means the world to me. And if you enjoyed it, maybe even… like and subscribe?! 🤔😅
Fabulous video! Can't believe it's your first but glad it popped up on my feed - probably because I search for alocasia related content. I don't use insta so hadn't seen your content before. Love that you use leca so that's another massive thumbs up. I have most of those you mentioned except the plumbea pink which, as you say, does kind of look like the serendipity which I find quite easy going. I think my favourite alocasia at the moment is my dragon scale mint variegated - have you seen that one? It's definitely a good grower and not prone to tantrums. Looking forward to more videos soon!
Hello, thanks for sharing your alocasia collection 🌷. I love them too. I didn't know that there was a pink watsoniania. Your collection is beautiful and I can't have a favorite. See you in your next video 😄
Thank you for this video!❤ been looking for someone that owns variegated alocasia aside from frydek in TH-cam for a long time. That regal shield is so gorgeous ❤
So glad to have just found your channel, question please: do you recommend separating the corms from the mother plant, but keeping them in the same pot??
It depends on your goals but you can do either! I like fuller plants, so I keep mine in. But if you want to separate them to have more or sell, you can do that, too!
The only one I have currently is the micholitziana 'Green Velvet' and it's my favourite Alocasia of all time. The cultivar name of the non-variegated one is 'Green Velvet' or there's also an obsolete name 'Maxkowskii'. 'Frydek' only refers to the variegated form (a misspelling of 'Freydyk'), but growers have started incorrectly using that name for 'Green Velvet', so "non-variegated 'Frydek'" is an oxymoron and "variegated 'Frydek'" is a tautology. Since I've put mine into semi-hydro, I've been getting huge leaves one after the other. 2:28 I think an all-white basal shoot can probably continue to be fed by the rest of the plant for some time before the plant gives up on it. They're only separate plants if you divide them up. I'm curious to see how long one can go for. You can think of it like a white branch on a variegated tree ... it's just that the branching is in the substrate. Anyway, nice video and nice collection! They look healthy! Welcome to TH-cam!
Wow, thank you so much for explaining that so succinctly! The Frydek debacle has always confused me! 😅 I 100% agree the 'Green Velvet' is just so stunning. I love the variegated version as well... but Green Velvet just hits different!
Hi loved the video! I love Alocasias too, they are beautiful with their leaves and they remind me of dragons. I am a total newbie on them though but one you don't seem to have is the Alocasia Scalprum. Maybe it's different for everyone but as a newbie this plant has been so resiliant and tough and it is gorgeous. My top favorite. Not sure if it has a varigated version.
Ive been wondering for a while why do people distict the name 'Pink' while describing variegation in plants that have maroon/red/pink/crimson (you name the color) undersides. Its just that pink underside colour blends with white cells that lacks chlorophyll. I thought Philodendron Pink Birkin might be the one deserving that name but its petioles and stems bears pink. Syngonium red spot or Philodendron White Princess are examples of Pink variegation that would not be guaranteed by pink underside but yet nobody calls them PINK VARIEGATED which is really ironic compared to alocasias. I think its an interesting topic related to misleading plant names, I would like to know your opinion on this.
That's a really interesting point! On one hand, I think "pink" in the name helps accurately describe what the variegation actually looks like (because most of the time its hard to find information about what color the back of leaves on plants even are), but on the other hand I understand your point that it makes it sound like pink variegation is somehow distinct from albo. But then its further complicated when you think of something like "Alocasia Black Velvet Gold," which is definitely a variegated Black Velvet, but NOT pink in color... So, I guess I don't really have a better solution than to just describe them as "pink-variegated" 😅 That, or "Albo/Pink"
@@BotanicallyInsane Thanks for a reply, you brought a really good point with black velvet gold. I hope in the future we will have more scientific information about those mutations and how to call them because i feel its getting complicated especially with Monsteras
Thanks for the extra content. I follow you on insta. For me even though I have a few rare var Alocasias my favourite is still the var Frydek, the leaves are just stunning, when you think you’ve seen it all she just surprises you with another banger 😊

You’re so welcome! And she’s one of my faves too! 😍
Gurrrl you’re such an alocasia queen!!
Aww that's so sweet of you! I do love em! 😅
You had me at Alocasia ❤
Can you do an Alocasia care video? I suck at them! I think I'm going to switch my Alocasia dragon scale to pon.
Can you tell us more about PON ?
You buy or mix it yourself ? Saw the roots of your Alocasia i understand you do it right and want to learn!
I usually just buy Lechuza pon unless they're out of stock, and in that case I mix it myself. But. Lechuza pon is the most cost effective!
