What did you have in your gallon of water? Was that just tap water?
🌱 Are you a LECA lover?! LECA stands for Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate and is used in hydroponics in place of soil. These cute little clay pebbles work by soaking up water from the bottom of a vessel using capillary action to water the roots of your plant! There’s a whole host of reasons why growing in LECA is awesome, but I’ll tell you the most compelling to me: 🦟 NO FUNGUS GNATS ! When you have as many plants as I do, battling fungus gnats (which lay their eggs in moist, organic matter like soil) becomes a full time job. 🚫 No soil = no gnat nursery. 💧 TAKE THE MYSTERY OUT OF WATERING ! When growing plants in Leca, you water when the vessel is almost empty. When refilling, simply ensure the water line returns to about 1/3 the height of the pot. I find that my Leca plants hardly ever need to be watered - maybe 2 times per month - which puts my mind at ease when I’m traveling for longer periods of time. 🏥 PREVENT ROOT ROT ! Leca allows the roots of your plant to have much more air flow compared to regular potting soil. Root rot can only occur in an oxygen-poor environment- like when soil stays wet for too long. As you can see, these roots are growing crazy! 🪴 My favorite houseplants to grow in LECA are those with thick, juicy roots! Think Orchids, Monstera, Peace Lillies, & Anthuriums. LECA itself does not contain nutrients like soil does, so be sure to add a small amount of fertilizer when watering. As with anything, there is a small learning curve with LECA. But, you can follow along for more tips or check out my favorite LECA supplies in my Amazon storefront! 💚 #leca #lecalife #clubleca #semihydro #semihydroponics #soilfree #soilless #houseplantcommunity
What is the 5th one with the pink veins?? I have an Anthurium that looks just like that, but the seller wasnt sure what the cross was.
HOW DID I NEVER THINK OF USING THE SALAD SHAKER
Wow this is rad
Use aquarium water. Job done.
Sorry no fish here =P
I want a queen anthurium so bad but I'm scared it's just going to be a big disappointment lol
What’s the name of the third one ?😍
It's a Anthurium Luxurians
Hi quick question! I don’t have that many plants so won’t need probably a gallon of water. Do you throw any remaining water or we can store and use it again? Also how often do you add this fertilizer? Every week?
You can definitely store it for later! I'd say as long as you use it within the month you should be fine. I fertilize every watering since my semihydro plants need it. :)
THANKUUUUUU, I’ve been saying this to everyone but since they watch enough TH-cam videos they think they need a 3 part system. It’s literally as simple as 1tsp a gallon and that’s it .
Omg seriously! Like, if you want to include 50 steps you can, but personally I'm too busy for that!
I wonder, with the vast variety to choose from there, whats the go to beverage of choice to take them meds with? 😂😭😂😬
Bahaha I swear most of them aren't mine!
There are way better products that exist. Superthrive has its uses but has always been regarded as the snake oil of plant fertilizers. I keep superthrive products in my quiver for transplants, propagation, and bringing plants out of dormancy but if you are looking for an all-around vegetative fertilizer there are much better products than this at a much greater value.
Her plants are literally proof of it working. Same here, I was spending on a lot of things just to find out a 8$ bottle would do the same for over 4 years now instead of a 50/60$ 3 part system. I’m confused because she has literal thriving plants infront of you
Jeezus your collection is stunning ❤❤❤
Where did you get that cabinet with the big plants are in?? I love it
I made it myself! Check out my link in bio for tutorials & supplies! <3
Quick question, im overthinking for sure. When you mix the foliage pro in the gallon of water, do you use that full gallon to water your plant thoroughly or do you water a bit with that gallon and come back in with regular water to finish watering? For example, i have a large bird of paradise which needs more than a gallon of water to get the plant fully watered. Would i use the full gallon of water with foliage pro or would i just use part of that water and finish watering with regular water? Thank you!
Can’t speak for what she does but I water all mine with fertilized water and if I know they need extra (alocasia) I come back in with a higher concentration of fertilizer in a small water bottle. The plants are hungry so just feed them is my going theory. If you see signs of fertilizer burn then I’d back off but mine are always hungry it seems
Great question! I usually just water everything with a fertilizer mixture! If you're lazy (like me sometimes haha), you can definitely top up with just regular water and your plants will still get enough nutrients, it'll just be a little more diluted. The great thing about Foliage Pro is that it won't burn your plants if you accidentally overdo it!
Beautiful collection im not familiar with the soil u use
I use the same for all 300-ish plants and they love it
Its amazing!
what plant is this i have never seen it? its gorg
Great plants
Great collection! I would love a video on alocasia care or how you transition plants from soil or fluval to pon.
Can you do an Alocasia care video? I suck at them! I think I'm going to switch my Alocasia dragon scale to pon.

@BotanicallyInsane oh thank you so much this is Nice of you 👍
Thank you for this video!❤ been looking for someone that owns variegated alocasia aside from frydek in TH-cam for a long time. That regal shield is so gorgeous ❤
You’re so welcome! And she’s one of my faves too! 😍
Gorgeous Alocasia!! Manny pink variegated that are on my wish list! 🪴💕🙌🏻
Never met a pink plant I didn't like! 😍
Fabulous video! Can't believe it's your first but glad it popped up on my feed - probably because I search for alocasia related content. I don't use insta so hadn't seen your content before. Love that you use leca so that's another massive thumbs up. I have most of those you mentioned except the plumbea pink which, as you say, does kind of look like the serendipity which I find quite easy going. I think my favourite alocasia at the moment is my dragon scale mint variegated - have you seen that one? It's definitely a good grower and not prone to tantrums. Looking forward to more videos soon!
Omg yes-- that one is on my wishlist! It's so pretty! Thank you so much for watching--and hoping to put out some LECA content soon. 💚
So glad to have just found your channel, question please: do you recommend separating the corms from the mother plant, but keeping them in the same pot??
It depends on your goals but you can do either! I like fuller plants, so I keep mine in. But if you want to separate them to have more or sell, you can do that, too!
Can you tell us more about PON ? You buy or mix it yourself ? Saw the roots of your Alocasia i understand you do it right and want to learn!
I usually just buy Lechuza pon unless they're out of stock, and in that case I mix it myself. But. Lechuza pon is the most cost effective!
Gurrrl you’re such an alocasia queen!!
Aww that's so sweet of you! I do love em! 😅
Can’t believe you said first video!!! This is great and an instant subscribe from me, I am deeeeeeeep into Alocasia right now 😂
ZOMG welcome to the addiction!! 🤣 Thank you so much for watching and being here!
I can't believe this is your first YT video!!! 🤯 You are a total natural! Wonderful job!! Excited to see more content 🌿💕
That is incredibly kind, and I can't wait to film more! I just love interacting with my fellow planty people! 💚
Ive been wondering for a while why do people distict the name 'Pink' while describing variegation in plants that have maroon/red/pink/crimson (you name the color) undersides. Its just that pink underside colour blends with white cells that lacks chlorophyll. I thought Philodendron Pink Birkin might be the one deserving that name but its petioles and stems bears pink. Syngonium red spot or Philodendron White Princess are examples of Pink variegation that would not be guaranteed by pink underside but yet nobody calls them PINK VARIEGATED which is really ironic compared to alocasias. I think its an interesting topic related to misleading plant names, I would like to know your opinion on this.
That's a really interesting point! On one hand, I think "pink" in the name helps accurately describe what the variegation actually looks like (because most of the time its hard to find information about what color the back of leaves on plants even are), but on the other hand I understand your point that it makes it sound like pink variegation is somehow distinct from albo. But then its further complicated when you think of something like "Alocasia Black Velvet Gold," which is definitely a variegated Black Velvet, but NOT pink in color... So, I guess I don't really have a better solution than to just describe them as "pink-variegated" 😅 That, or "Albo/Pink"
@@BotanicallyInsane Thanks for a reply, you brought a really good point with black velvet gold. I hope in the future we will have more scientific information about those mutations and how to call them because i feel its getting complicated especially with Monsteras
I'm waiting for the new video
😅 I'll get to work!
The only one I have currently is the micholitziana 'Green Velvet' and it's my favourite Alocasia of all time. The cultivar name of the non-variegated one is 'Green Velvet' or there's also an obsolete name 'Maxkowskii'. 'Frydek' only refers to the variegated form (a misspelling of 'Freydyk'), but growers have started incorrectly using that name for 'Green Velvet', so "non-variegated 'Frydek'" is an oxymoron and "variegated 'Frydek'" is a tautology. Since I've put mine into semi-hydro, I've been getting huge leaves one after the other. 2:28 I think an all-white basal shoot can probably continue to be fed by the rest of the plant for some time before the plant gives up on it. They're only separate plants if you divide them up. I'm curious to see how long one can go for. You can think of it like a white branch on a variegated tree ... it's just that the branching is in the substrate. Anyway, nice video and nice collection! They look healthy! Welcome to TH-cam!
Wow, thank you so much for explaining that so succinctly! The Frydek debacle has always confused me! 😅 I 100% agree the 'Green Velvet' is just so stunning. I love the variegated version as well... but Green Velvet just hits different!
Happy to have you on YT!! 👏👏👏
This means so much coming from you! Thank you! 🥰
Hello, thanks for sharing your alocasia collection 🌷. I love them too. I didn't know that there was a pink watsoniania. Your collection is beautiful and I can't have a favorite. See you in your next video 😄
It's a newer variety for sure! And thank you so much! I'm just obsessed with Alocasias! 😅
Hi loved the video! I love Alocasias too, they are beautiful with their leaves and they remind me of dragons. I am a total newbie on them though but one you don't seem to have is the Alocasia Scalprum. Maybe it's different for everyone but as a newbie this plant has been so resiliant and tough and it is gorgeous. My top favorite. Not sure if it has a varigated version.
*adds to cart* 🤣 Thank you so much for watching... and for the recommendation!!
I just love your collection it's phenomenal
Thank you so much that's very kind! Definitely obsessed with Alocasias atm! 😅
@BotanicallyInsane I am becoming obsessed with them too so I don't blame you haha
Wonderful collection. Amazing roots on that " A. Platinum"
Right?! Getting to look at the roots is just the best feeling! 😁
I'm surprised this is your first, you seemed very natural talking to a camera... which is a skill in itself. Well done
@@Wet_Your_Plants aw thank you that means a lot! I think editing helps a ton 😅
What is your favorite water additives/fertilizers for plants in leca?
Alocasias are one of my favorite plants
Me, too! Their leaves are just so mesmerizing! 😍
Thanks for the extra content. I follow you on insta. For me even though I have a few rare var Alocasias my favourite is still the var Frydek, the leaves are just stunning, when you think you’ve seen it all she just surprises you with another banger 😊
Thank you so much for watching! It means so much! 🥰 I totally agree with you! Such a fabulous plant! And I'm so glad its more affordable now!
🌱 Hey! Thank you SO MUCH for watching my first TH-cam video! 🎉 It seriously means the world to me. And if you enjoyed it, maybe even… like and subscribe?! 🤔😅
