ACE work as usual Elbear. Top Tier . smooth camera work and presentation, NO awkward fumbling opening packaging, just a brief intro to her character, and on to the review. it was an immediate buy for me and a MUST own . This figure looks just like she does in all her photos, as we all know sometimes companies like to use photoshop to "Sell" to make a figure look better than it really is. if you are a fan of this character and The KOF series...(i am a bit bias as i am a huge SNK fan )..clean fine details , sharp looking headsculpts, the tunshi 1/6 scale girls are a little smaller in size when compared to other 1/6 scale females from other companies , sadly i wont be able to put together the KOF97 womans team as PopToys 1/6 scale chizuru is on the larger size , but on the bright side, Tunshi is releasing a Yuri Sakazaki so hopefully they will eventually make a king figure to assemble the 94 womans team.
Thank you as always for the kind and in-depth feedback! But yeah, I agree with your sentiment about the size. Normally I'm a stickler for accurate height representation in a sixth scale figure. While 5'4" is arguably petite, somehow Mai was never portrayed to be that small in the games. Though I'm cautiously optimistic about Tunshi's Yuri being petite as well. And who knows. Maybe Tunshi also has a Chizuru in the pipeline that might scale well with the rest.
Thank you so much for the kind feedback 😊 Given all the different versions of Mai figures released thus far, I'd say this one is the safest bet. However, I'd love to see a better version of Mai if other makes like Iconiq Studios ever pick up the license in the future. Happy collecting~
Aw yeeeah elbears back! Just got into the DmC series recently so I went back to your Dante review, been wondering when you were gonna post a new vid. Glad to see you're still uploading!
Thank you for the kind feedback! It's funny you should mention that because 2023 is gonna be an interesting year for this channel. Not only are my real life commitments going through some changes, I've also picked up yet another side gig, which will take some time away from video production. What this means is that I likely can't crank out reviews as frequently, so not every single figures that come my way are going to be featured. But I will still prioritize releases from favored makers like GameToys, Iconiq Studios, Limtoys, and Tunshi Studio just to name a few. So please stay tuned!
Now you can recreate the legendary Haohmaru Vs Mai fight! This looks excellent. The ponytail could have been ball jointed for more movement, and they could have added a flaming effect for her Ryu Enbu attack imo. But at any rate the figure is worthy of Mai on its own. (Nice BG music btw. This is true love we makin)
That's a brilliant idea! Perhaps a display stand with an optional Ryu Enbu add-on effect might look great too. And thank you for catching that BGM! It always makes my day when someone picks up on the choice of music because that's often my favorite part about making these videos. Happy new year, my friend! Thanks for the continued support since the very beginning~
Thank you so much for the kind feedback~ My time for that Genesis Mai review might have long passed (or maybe I'm just lazy because the Super Duck costume was a lot of work to put on 😅). But I am very excited for their upcoming classic Iori and Kyo though, so please stay tuned!!
@@ElbearToys I can't wait for your next video. To tell the truth you helped a lot, before I buy something I always take a look at your content. My last figure was the 1/6 scale Leona Heidern by Darksteel toys. Darksteel seems to be going for other members of the team Ikari like Ralph Jones. Anyway ... Thanks for replying ☺️ I'll be sure to watch the next video
Thanks for watching~ Isn't the Storm Collectible Mai a 1/12 figure? I'd actually love to get a 1/12 collection going, but I'm a completionist with zero self control so I dare not go down that path 😅
Whoah, sorry about the mix up. My first comment made no sense because I answered them in bulk this morning via TH-cam Studio. Not only did none of my replies get submitted, it managed to mix up my reply for the only comment that came through. But yes, thank you so much for watching 🍻
That's a fair point. I'm usually a stickler about accurate height representation for 1/6 figures, but I'm really conflicted about this one. 5'4" is arguably petite but Mai never came across as a small girl in any of the games. Thanks for watching!
This release is certainly mild compare to how exciting the last 2 releases had been. Or maybe Tunshi just set the bar too high because like you said, this Mai is still pure beauty 😃
Excellent excellent review as always. Sadly I’m not too thrilled about the figure. Her height and general size are too small. Genesis’ version has the proper dimensions in my eyes, however their portrait leaves a lot to be desired😢. Crossing my fingers Iconiq can pick up the license.
Thank you, my friend! I gotta say, I've never been this conflicted about the size of a sixth scale figure. On the one hand, 5'4" is arguably petite, but Mai never struck me as a tiny girl from her portrayal in all of the games. That said, I'm givin' it my all to support Iconiq Studios in hopes of them picking up more licenses. As action figure and fighting game enthusiasts, our time is now 🍻
As a matter of fact, I'm all aboard the inArt hype train 😁 I think I have all the variations for all of their upcoming releases so far (except for Batman). Unless I'm the last person on earth to get my hands on 'em, I'll likely feature them on this channel. Please stay tuned~
@@ElbearToys I'm always tuned! Because of you I started collecting and you saved me a lot by telling me to use OSK, literally the best place to buy figures! So once again thanks for that! I'm riding that hype train also with inArt but only with LOTR as of now... I really hope they can do Berserk as they mentioned they will do anime in an interview! Eagerly waiting for your Joker review if you do it! :)
Congrats on getting yours! And agreed. Between this, Genesis, and the 1st TBLeague versions, the Tunshi version is the safest bet. It's got good likeness but nothing is too exaggerated. Thanks for watching!
Oh no!! May I recommend contacting the retailer from which you purchased this figure for a replacement? Now's better than later because the release is still new, so there should be spare parts readily available. Good luck~
Agreed~ The umbrella, at the very least, is worth your while to track down. I'd shoot for the flamin' Kachou Sen too if there's a good deal. Happy collecting 😃
Oof, I wasn't able to figure out the exact model of this base body. TBLeague had made so many that it might be difficult to identify even if every variation was laid out for comparison. BUT...if I have to make a wild guess based on the height, proportions, and detachable feet, I'd say the S24A can be a possible candidate. I know that wasn't much to go on, but hopefully it helped~
That red costume on the Geneis Emen Mai 2.0 is by Super Duck (SET012). It's one of Super Duck's earlier works so it hasn't aged that well. I'd argue the red costume from Genesis Emen's Mai 1.0 is a better option, albeit it's based on the newer dress from recent KoF games. Thanks for watching!
I managed to unbox this figure and right now, I am wondering of her stand is magnetic because she can seemingly stand on her own without the base spine to hold her up. If it is magnetic, that is amazing. Also, you're right about the dust being a problem for her. I have a detolf display cabinet but it's not dust proofed yet and I wanted to display her on my PC desk. 🫤
Totally 😔 This dust issue is definitely one of the many woes of this kind of seamless bodies. As for the base, I don't think it's magnetic (unless mine is completely defective because the Lugosi Dracula by Infinite Statue has magnetic feet/base, and that one noticeably snaps). The sculpted feet could be the reason she stands so well with or without the base. Though for longterm display, I'd still recommend using the base because the micro vibration over time can still be enough to tip the figure over. Thanks for watching!
@@ElbearToys I managed to get the base's spine to bend and now it's securing her to the base, so all is good and well. I also decided to take out my DOA Hitomi resin statue and placed this Mai Shiranui in the detolf, where she will have some protection against dust. Also, someone told me to buy some Vitamin E oils and apply it to the silicone/rubber skin of the figure to prevent it from drying out... I've never heard this done before, and I'm not willing to try it just because another collector said so but have you heard of that?
@@RakaiThwei Wow, I've never heard of any oil treatments to the rubber...but that's interesting because I've yet to consider the possibility. Even my oldest Phicen bodies have yet to show signs of tear due to being dried out (but they were in the box so that could be another reason for the longevity). Speaking of DoA, what do you think of the Super Duck Kasumi (SET073)? She doesn't look that much like in the game, but I might just bite anyway because this is their 3rd attempt at the character (and I doubt they can do it any better) 😅
@@ElbearToys Someone had informed me of that but it's not something I would be willing to risk with this Mai Shiranui figure. Right now, she's safe from dust (or as can be) in my IKEA detolf. She should be lasting a good while, so long she's out of sunlight and protected in the detolf. As for the Kasumi figure... well, I had to Google that one, and... I feel like I have seen better OFFICIALLY licensed Kasumi DOA figures, I had one from EPOCH back in 2000, but sadly, she was lost in a move, and I've seen an anime styled one which was better.
