I wouldn't say the dialogue or screen play isn't all that sad. It's more about the story.
War is Hell in when you go and fight in real life next to someone who has the same contract with you. It is not all hell.

I don’t like what Shepherd did in MW2. But I do like his end speech. The “Five years ago, I lost 30,000 men in the blink of an eye. And the world just fucking watched.” That small speech just sticks with me for whatever reason

I think it's the fact and shock that he was the overlord that the USMC group we were in MW OG and the fact that he felt like something could have been done only to then realize that it's what the world does at war for those who fight and die we just " fucking watch" and keep acting like everything is " normal" for us civies but for troops they can't go back to normal not when there brothers and sisters die or are hurt beyond fixing and it makes you think what would you do if you were in his shoes

The Reboot trilogy could never match just how raw the OG trilogy was

Brother MW2019 was really good. It was tense, brutal, and challenging our morals just like the old COD, the ones after were dogshit thanks Activision!
These background moments will always be more sad and emotional than anything modern COD could put in a million dollar cutscene
Proves show don't tell works
Don’t know if this counts but in MW2, when you are defending the Washington evac site and you don’t actively take out the Russian forces, Overlord’s dialogue becomes more frantic. There is even a video on TH-cam with cut dialogue from that Mission that wasn’t used in the final release of the game.
Yes we only buy time for ppl to get out and I have nightmares about hearing the guy just telling us that they got civies with guns trying to help out against Russia troops I just have to pause the video every time to just let it sink in
“What choice do I have” hit me hard for some reason
I don’t know about the rest of you but I felt so bad for Kamarov when he died. I feel like something more should have been done with him, like he should helped with the mission where you evacuate the safe house in India or when you fight Waraabes men. Here is only in the game for two missions and never seen again.
I think maybe they didn't have enough money to pay the actor who played him and the time to put his AI in missions
@@shadowstar37it was the 2 directors from infinity war getting fired with the suing against activision that sledgehammer/raven software helped out a lot so they were running out of time and with the recent discovery of the ending post credit we were going to get more but they scrapped it but I do agree but im very satisfied by the ending and the og trilogy

Price in COD MW3 now to: OH NO NO NO SOAP!
That voice actor deserves a raise. You could both hear and feel the pain from Price right when Soap slipped away.

I was also sad back then holding my tears.

Honestly idk why mw3 was just the saddest, way to many characters died, Soap, Kamarov, Yuri, Sandman and team metal. A really emotional rollercoaster throughout it.
for anyone who didn't understand the second one, Broken Arrow is a radio control term that refers to an overrun force requesting immidiate close air support with complete indiscriminency. in short the guy on the radio is saying we've already lost just bomb us too because we're not going to survive anyway.
I remember playing the the OG modern warfare as a kid, and watching the people I played alongside get killed, then seeing that image of them after the plane mission made me cry. TF-141 forever

I recently played the OG MW3, i felt bad on the SAS and GIGN soldiers who died.
In MW2 when you have to defend the Washington Monument evac site with the .50 cal and the Jav, if you do nothing you can actually hear the call for help become more frantic and desperate until they get overrun by Russian forces. Its actually gut wrenching. The part that always gets me the most is when the Officer on the radio calls out that civilians are picking up weapons in an attempt to assist but aren't trained to handle that sort of thing, all while you can hear screaming and crying in the background. Until eventually the Officer declares the evac site has fallen and you hear civilians being executed while the radio op pulls out his pistol before the transmission suddenly cuts out.
I tried to listen to the audio in my own game but i don't have it in me to let it get to that point.
The OG MWs had such amazing storytelling back then. Each of these moments really hit you in the gut everytime you see them.
I only started the OG Modern Warfare series a month ago, went through all the campaigns and finished it a few weeks back. Man, I understand now why people hold it in high regard. It's one of the best stories ever to be presented in a video game.
You can prefer the Black Ops campaigns to MW but damn did these feel different on rewatch

The broken arrow one is really fucked up if you know what it is
7:09 that dude flew in like a Saiyan. no one was there, and all of a sudden this guy comes out of the smoke.
I felt so bad for sandman in the down the rabbits hole mission
On that MW2 mission "Of Their Own Accord" alone, you can make a compilation there. What I really remember in that mission before the heli that you're on get hit for the first time, there's a radio chatter about another heli but carrying civilians that was hit. ".....Civilian transport, going down."
Couldn't even bring myself to watch Soap's death scene, still hurts even 13 years later
They really need to remaster the MW3 Campaign that game has so many moments that would look amazing in a remaster
The actual story end in MW3 where Makarov is finally dead, but so does TF141, except Nikolai and Mac

0:25 i played mw2 for the first time when i was like 8 or 9, about a week or 2 before i had got the game. my dad and i watched "We Were Soldiers" and if you have seen the movie you know all about the broken arrow scene. as a kid it was scary as shit seeing that and not exactly comprehending its not "real". but knowing that it was all based off real things that happened to real people. when i played that mission and heard them yelling broken arrow i knew things were bad
Idk if anyone else noticed, because I JUST noticed, but at 5:37, you can see prices face and its DEVASTATED! Looking at the body of one of his closest friends, feeling like he failed to keep him alive, after being set tf up, knowing he has to walk away, all he wants to do is just mourn, with his eyes looking wider and watery.
The only thing that bring him back is a hail of bullets ripping through the building, but he's not concerned with that.
At 5:40 that's not a man whose ready to fight. Thats a man ready to murder someone. Specifically you. Yuri is supposed to be standing a little more to the left, which is why it looks like Price is staring past you, but its supposed to be directed at Yuri, and the player. You did this.
So what does he do? Beats you down the freaking stairs the second he could, waiting for you to tell him one little lie, so he can justify putting a bullet through you... the man he blames for Soaps death, a man who is at that moment an in inadvertent extension of Makarov.
Now the dialogue in the new mw3 is glitchy. Like, I thought they were meant to get better. Oh how I was wrong

I played modern warfare in my childhood and never understand the story now I look back and wish it was still like this

Lastly, the Death of Soap.
Here are some of the things that made me depressed about the OG MW
•SAS,GIGN and the USMC are the only military factions that lost a significant amount of casualties
•Rook from The Enemy of my Enemy mission was the last task force 141 soldier
•Joseph Allen was shepherd's pawn in creating WW3
•If you play as Harkov,one of the Russian president's bodyguards,Makarov's name is green before he kills you
•Ghost tried to use his ACR to protect himself from Shepherd but failed to do so
•Frost blew up the mine leading to the deaths of Truck,Grinch and Sandman
So many soldiers died helping price it was all makarovs and shepherds fault
come on now I’m inpatient for mw3 remastered release
I wanted general shepherd died in CODM because of what he did in MW2 OG and he might do the same in CODM

Doesnt "Broken Arrow" mean a problem involving a nuclear weapon ??
It means they're asking for every air unit to kill them and to keep the enemy from getting any Intel that could mess us the fight
Broken Arrow is code for “Strike at my location” basically last ditch effort to defeat the ever overwhelming enemy while facing imminent destruction from the enemy. Basically danger close, but calling for any available unit to do it.
“If we’re going down, we’re taking them with us.” As Foley puts it.
But yes you are correct, it does also mean an incident with an accidental event involving nuclear weapons, (excluding nuclear war) like lost bomb, detonation, contamination
From what I can understand: Broken Arrow is when the defenders is overwhelmed and overrun that they called an strike onto their position.

Just imagine for a moment if General Shepherd had won. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. volunteers and patriots, enlisting in the U.S. armed forces and fulfilling the wish of that soldier ranger he expressed on that white house roof: Invade the Russian Federation and then arrive and raze Moscow to the ground. At the mere thought of that, I now get a strong feeling of patriotism. Oh well, too bad it will never come to fruition...maybe, because General Shepherd will take it to his grave.
