  • Our 2024 Genesis GV70 took us on a 3200-mile road trip. In this video I'll cover aspects of our experience like: Real life MPG of the Genesis GV70, Comfort Features of the GV70, and our overall experience along with issues that I experienced for the first time since we bought it.
Genesis offered us an alternative to the traditional german premium SUV's that you see everyday on the road. The Genesis GV70 is a big bet for the brand because of the competitive segment in which it competes. Shortly after we chose the Genesis GV70 over the perennial Lexus RX, we took ours on a trip from California to Texas and back, all in 3 days and recently it took us on another epic trip, this time to the beautiful State of Arkansas. Sorry for the audio throughout the video.
I make a lot of mistakes in my life and my videos are a reflexion of that. None of what I say erroneously in my video is with the intent to misrepresent the GV70, the Genesis brand or my experience with these.

Love these gv70 road trip videos!❤
Does the touch wach do any damage to the paint? Like any micro scratches, I have been doing touchess and it’s a little nerve racking because my last car leaked. I have a gv70 2.5 sport prestige.
    Can’t wait for another gv70 video! 😝

About the touch wash… I was never a fan of them. I still don’t like them too much. But the convenience is huge. I normally pressure wash my cars and use super soft microfiber clothes and never use brushes to clean it etc but I have given in to touch washes because of my busy schedule and how much I like to drive clean cars and it adds up $…
I buy a yearly pass for each of our cars. The one I use is the conveyor system and in the past I remember them damaging the wheels with the rails but they have come a long way with how they use padding to prevent metal on metal.
I use my own rags to avoid using their contaminated, greasy ones.
      We’ll see in time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for another great review, Juan Carlos... I was eagerly awaiting your long distance report.
Given that the brake squeak cured itself, it was likely caused by dust buildup and perhaps a bit of rotor glazing. Hitting the brakes hard a few times usually clears that up.
That alarm was probably the controller losing connection with the vehicle controller but most vehicles will display a dash warning. Our CR-V does the same thing if I leave the fob in the door pocket, especially when the fob battery is low, but it only plays a single 'beep sequence' and then displays a dashboard notice.
When I test drove the GV70, I actually liked the seat firmness. I owned a German car in the 70s that had the firmest seats I'd ever experienced and I loved them. OTOH, I wasn't trying for a marathon driving record so...😉
During our test drive, I found myself going way too fast on city streets. The GV70 was so much more quiet than our CR-V that it was really tough to judge speed. (I guess that's the one and only advantage of a vehicle that plays a discordant symphony of road, wind and engine noise!)
Thanks again... looking forward to the next review!

Honda products, to include Acura, have a tendency to be louder. As much as I like the reliability of Honda/Acura, I think the cabin noise is a deal breaker for what I look in a vehicle today. Meaning, the older I get, the less tolerant I have become to excessive noise.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I love your videos man, I’ve been eyeballing the gv70 for my wife. Hopefully they release a hybrid version soon

That’d be awesome! I test drove a Tucson Hybrid N-Line and I loved the drivetrain because it had a regular automatic transmission, not a CVT so it drove “normal”. Most hybrids are going with a CVT. (So I want to see what Genesis can do with a hybrid set up)
Even the Lexus RX went CVT on their hybrid and it drives like an economy car.

Juan here’s my take as an owner: seats are way too firm, my 2023 has a lot of wind noise on the highway, and I’m wondering if the larger engine provides a better ride experience. Of course not having wireless connectivity is ludicrous for a premium vehicle. But, like the car to the point that I’m going to test drive the 2025 with a 6 cylinder that just hit my dealership. Enjoy your videos.

The 6 cylinder has laminated glass on the rear passenger windows whereas the 4 cylinder only has laminated glass on the first row.
I don’t spot any wind noise as far as leaks from the door and or windows. There’s the inherent wind resistance sound from a vehicle that is high off the ground with a blocky shape. There’s no way around it.
And seems like the 2025 refresh brings wireless Apple CarPlay.
      Thank you for your comment!

What was your experience of taking your car to a car wash? Any scratches?

Good question: I’ve never been a fan of auto washes but lately I just gave in to the idea because of how practical it is. So far I haven’t noticed anything with the GV70. My other 2 cars haven’t been as lucky: an emblem fell off the TSX and a small wiper cover/clip from the BMW. 🤷🏻‍♂️
