- Our 2024 Genesis GV70 took us on a 1600-mile road trip. In this video I'll cover aspects of our experience like: Real life MPG of the Genesis GV70, Comfort Features of the GV70, and our overall experience.
Genesis offered us an alternative to the traditional german premium SUV's that you see everyday on the road. The Genesis GV70 is a big bet for the brand because of the competitive segment in which it competes. Shortly after we chose the Genesis GV70 over the perennial Lexus RX, we took ours on a trip from California to Texas and back, all in 3 days. Sorry for how long this video turned out to be.
I make a lot of mistakes in my life and my videos are a reflexion of that. None of what I say erroneously in my video is with the intent to misrepresent the GV70, the Genesis brand or my experience with these.

Juan, it comes with privacy cover. If you lift up the rear cargo mat, and open the latch cover and pull away it is tucked inside for storage. I didn't think mine came with one but found it there.

Interesting! I didn’t know there was a diesel version of this. I always find it fascinating when I am in Europe and run into different motorizations in models sold in the USA. Like the Mercedes Benz S class with a 4 cylinder diesel engine, etc. diesels never really took off in the United States but you can still see some Mercedes from the 70’s and 80’s with their reliable diesel engines on the roads today.

Nice presentation. I love the dogs as you do. We have a small white Cavapoo who enjoys long trips. I thought that these Genesis GV70’s require premium gas?
Honestly, it says premium “recommended”. If it said premium “required” then I’d just follow the rules… actually, just yesterday I filled up from empty with 91 octane for the first time. We’ll see. 🤷🏻♂️
Oh, and my dogs are lovely. I have a history with dogs. Growing up in Mexico, stray dogs are everywhere and by the age of 9 I had been bitten twice 🤣. At 5 I had to get rabies shots daily for like 2 weeks, so I hate needles and always was uneasy around dogs. I still am around bigger dogs but my wife is a pet lover and we got one many years ago and then we added the second one. I’m so attached to them 🤷🏻♂️
Eating while driving with no hands, wow. Even more perilous: eating gas station sushi.
Perilous? You sent me straight to the dictionary 🤣. It wasn’t gas station sushi and yes, a bit irresponsible to eat and drive at the same time. 🤷🏻♂️
Great video! How much does it cost 💲 to fill up a tank from empty to full?
I think it holds like 17 gallons but I’ve never put over 15. At $5 per gallon it’s about $75.

Is this 2.5t or 3.5t? How do you compare it to model y?
It’s the 2.5. I had the Model Y Performance. Honestly it’s an unfair comparison for both vehicles. The Y is a masterpiece of technology but in a way it’s like a huge iPhone built by IKEA. The GV is better built, better materials and has features my Y didn’t like ventilated seats and a cover for the sunroof. The ride is more comfortable but the seats of the Y are softer ( I do say in the review of my Y that they’re among the most comfortable seats I ever had in a vehicle)
The GV is way quieter.

The GV is better looking (IMO) and more unique. I believe the Y is a little boring and you see them everywhere here in California; it is a very successful vehicle.
Nobody does tech integration like Tesla. The Tesla app is way better than the one from Genesis.

@@JuanCarlosLTOSpot on 🎯. I drove the Y 3 times and ultimately decided that it was more device than vehicle. The GV70 does so many more vehicle things better to me.
