Thanks for sharing the first drive with us! The fact that there even WAS a first drive is cause for celebration! She looks and sounds proud, as well! Enjoy your week! Be safe!
I’m going out on a limb here….”I am amazed of the knowledge you possess at your age on how to twist, bend, cut, shrink, stretch, and manipulate that old iron to make it near perfect”!!! 💪💪💪 ( ego still holding at normal level, right??? ) 😁😁😁
Great video. Easy to follow. Finished my '30 model A about a year ago. Put in 2 gallons of gas to get running a tuned. Took it out on it's maiden run and forgot to add more gas and ran out of gas. Had to call my wife to rescue me from the side of the road. Still haven't heard the end of it .
Thanks for showing how much work is actually involved in chopping a car properly. It's looking great. Congratulations on the test run, I bet it felt awesome to finally drive it!
It runs and drives!! Woohoo that’s awesome. A little fine tuning of the carb and it will happy and you’ll be out driving it all the time. Congrats on getting to this stage and looking forward to seeing the next vid.
great job on the chop Travis i love this car and the way you do your work . it was so cool to go on the first drive ride along . i wanted to build a similar car to this , but i got my halfway chopped 50 tudor so that will have to work for now . i put a tripower 350 chevy in it with vintage cal custom aluminum finned valve covers . keep up the great work !!
First of all great job on the chop ! AND the 1st ride you will NEVER forget. All builds have bumps in the road, Enjoy the journey. You're doing a fantastic job. Following ........................
All the listed you mentioned “a thank you” are those I follow too. The window chop template I first saw from Bobby Walden So California shop. If you’re not checking him out might see something you could learn also
This is what I am talking about. This is a perfect example of how to do it the right way. I see guys just butchering up cars because they did not think things over and just said oh I can do this no problem and then their chop is completely off.
was watching Halfass Kustom today and he named off 5 people he watches. Your First., then Bello's Kustoms, Mortske Repair, Puddin's Fab Shop and Casey's Customs. I subsrcibed to all five look all great programs. 2/19.2022 21:05
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?
I'm getting ready to chop my 29 5 window 4",Thanks for Covering all the aspects of Chopping a top and covering the template for the windows, " Great Tip" Your car is looking awesome keep up the good work.
How may inches did you chop from the roof? Have not caught up with all your content yet, do you have video of when you did the chop? Your work is excellent, learn something each time I watch. Thanks
Awesome first drive! And I feel your pain, vintage carbs drive me nuts. Recommend checking all around for vacuum leaks, before changing the jets. Just my two cents.
Just see that flathead go do the road a few blocks is totally sexy romantic. A toast to the men and I'm sure a few women who made this flathead back in the day. I have a '47 Ford pickup from Canada in my driveway. I hope to get her to run someday.
What type of planing tool are you using? I would like to know the brand and model number and who sells them. I’d like to get one for my husband. Love your videos there done very well.❤️ Thank you!
Great work on the chop very impressive, my 36 flathead runs about the same lol I've been ignoring it for a while doing everything else but plan to get back to it so please do a video on what you find
Thanks for the details on the window template. Will build mine tomorrow. You also mentioned in getting the door frame and outer skin perfect, you would replace the nails on an angle. I’m in the process of pulling everything apart. How do you get the original nails out without messing up the door posts and windows?
Hey man! I love your car and channel. You really have unreal talent!! I’m working on chopping my coupe but it’s kind of in pieces. I was hoping you could tell me what that MDF template measures top to bottom. My doors were half cut up when I bought the car and would love to make it look like Yours!
I know that this won’t get to you in time but the restructure of your exhaust from the motor header DOES NOT have to go under the frame and then back up into the X member…….I’ve owned 3 ‘40’s and NEVER went below the frame then back up……!
I have a 30 Model A coupe body that I want chopped 4 inch and was wondering the price for you to do it and a time frame. I'm in Pittsburgh Pa and would deliver to your shop. Thanks Greg

With all these comments it’s hard to keep the ego down but the cork is still holding it down haha
Thanks for sharing the how to on the chop template. Enjoyed the first drive, even if it did require a tow. Looking forward to the next video!

I’m so happy for you Travis you got to run it under its own power
Feels good!
👍🏻
Liking your videos! What brand of planishing hammer do you use?
JRM tool co. It is a reproduction of the old Milwaukee planishing hammers
What type of planing tool are you using? I would like to know the brand and model number and who sells them. I’d like to get one for my husband. Love your videos there done very well.❤️
Thank you!
JRM Tool Co. he sells them through his instagram, @jrmmetalworks

I will for sure!
The first drive is always the best no matter the final outcome.
I wasn’t upset at all. I was proud I made it as far as I did!

Thanks man!! I measured the middle and it’s 9” 5/8
@@RACGARAGE youre the bomb! Thanks man! Looking forward to more content!
Say cool whip,
Can’t mess with peoples witness protection lol.
Nice! Sounds like maybe the accelerator pump on the carb isn't working?
Good call, I have to rebuild it
I know that this won’t get to you in time but the restructure of your exhaust from the motor header DOES NOT have to go under the frame and then back up into the X member…….I’ve owned 3 ‘40’s and NEVER went below the frame then back up……!
It sort of sounded like "fuel lock". Is there a breather on the fuel cap?
Please excuse my dumbness , but what is the tool you use at the 15.00 minute mark. great video.. Cheers
Not dumb at all, it’s a handheld pneumatic planishing hammer. Pretty much an air powered hammer and dolly
Were those cars built that way, with the doors overlapping the body versus being flush with the body?
Yea they were, crazy right!?
Hope you don't change the way she's sitting. She's absolutely perfect just like that. Love that more high boy stance.
I just want bigger tires in the rear. No suspension modifications
@@RACGARAGE mmmmmm yeah. Some slight rake would be perfection.
It was running lean
Where are you located and do you do customer chops
I am in CT and yes I do customer chops!
I have a 30 Model A coupe body that I want chopped 4 inch and was wondering the price for you to do it and a time frame. I'm in Pittsburgh Pa and would deliver to your shop. Thanks Greg
