  • A look at the Philips Airfryer HD9220/20. Full review on my blog : goo.gl/IUIHzU
Current Conclusion : Too expensive, small cooking space, old-style manual controls. It heats things well but I need to be careful of smoke incidents from the fat. I am getting better at reducing these incidents but like to keep an eye on it at all times. It's especially good at foods with a covering such as breaded burgers. And oven chips too. I think it is too expensive though. And this model has lots of annoyances. If you want one I would get the digital one or probably even the XL one.

What material was the countertop made of? Does the fryer get very hot, hot enough to burn the surface beneath?

I use my viva hd2920 all the time, makes perfect steak, fries, and every thing else. do not use more than a teaspoon oil over your food at one time. i use oil spray bottle and spray very little oil. works perfect. would buy again.

thanks for the comments. I have generally given up on the fryer. I wasnt using oil for french fries. They were oven chips which I think are oil covered ? RE the smoke alarm, it just seems I can't stop fat hitting the element. Maybe newer versions can counteract this, but I couldnt find a way.

How the hell do you stop it? Can't force the dial counter-clockwise, feels like you'll brake it.

      yeh theres no way.
same as those cheap tabletop timer convection ovens.
i switch the socket button off.
i think the new version is digital (??)

Never been a problem for me, I just switch it off at the wall. I like the simplicity.

With All due respect, I wonder whether you understand the consept of the Philips air frier.

You could be right. I have generally given up on it as the fat from my chicken burgers hits the elements and produces smoking above 140 degrees.
What concept is it for ?

I wonder if it use too much electrical energy or not??

this 1 is rated 1.425kw max, so it probably does use quite a bit. But I guess all air-fryers may use a lot, as they are all basically heaters and fans.
