22:48 - Poor marines, sacrificed for efficiency. Imagine inside the medivac, like, "Johnny it's your time to jump" - "But there are baneling beneath" - "You'll be remembered, it's for a greater purpose."
It is pretty boring, just shows how broken Terran is at a high level. Even blind counters tend to still fail because Terran is nearly unkillable with every single unit they have doing extreme damage from range, and having near perfect intel at all times.
Don't pay any mind to the negative comments. People will coach from their armchairs all day long without having a clue what it's like to be in your shoes. Love your uploads, and love it when you have great games. You make SC2 look like an art sometimes - beautiful stuff, thanks 😜
PF Rush is the strongest challenge. Hear me out: the bongcloud was a strict loss in resources (and defensibility), but the otherwise unrestricted uThermal made all the plays to still go far. PF Rush is a better bongcloud, because sure you have to use some resources, but (a) you have control over how to fit it into your build and (b) you get an attack out of it. At the start I kept hearing that this challenge is the hardest one yet and I've disagreed the whole way!! uThermal with unrestricted unit choices + he gets to do a weird chaotic attack that nobody is familiar with? This is as close to playing to his strengths as it gets! 😁
I don't know exactly what it is about Uthermal's voice, but everytime I hear it, i can't help but smile. If I ever get really sick, I'd want Uthermal to break the news to me. "Bad news, in a good way" - Mel Brooks's Men In Tights
this is by far my favourite series so far, what a strat this is, truly beautiful the way the command center majestically flies into the enemy base, bringing terran freedom to all the other races, and sometimes to other terrans :')
Never played or watched StarCraft, didn’t know anything more than what the races are but have watched like 20 of your vids now lol. Such a great format and attitude you have!
Oh also, I would loooove to see that “no attack” episode! Expand when they fail attacks, take half the map, fortify like crazy with turrets, PFs and seige units. Play it kind of similar to your “vs 7 ai” challenges. Nothing on their side of the map except ghost nuke medivacs. No scouting except scans. No attacking for ~25 minutes. They usually ragequit sooner. Huge fan! Plus we have the same name 🎉
Your content is super enjoyable! I don't know how you are able to play at a high level, narrate, and plan your moves while knowing your opponents every move. The way how you toy with some of the best players around is also very humbling, lol. I like to try new things after watching you play and getting a few laughs. Anyway, I'm glad TH-cam forwarded your content, since found, I enjoy it on a daily basis. Cheers
"I need some time off and will work only when I feel like doing so." Proceeds to publish videos every day and now two videos in one day :D True spirit!
I love how Marc is really chill during the last game vs Protoss while in fact he came back from the situation he himself called unwinnable a couple of times earlier.
It is no surprise to me at all that we can give you useful tips. Many of us can come up with some absolutely crazy strategies, or slight modifications to yours, but we don't have the skill/mechanics to pull them off ourselves.
16:29 Would it be possible to do a 'run through' with a squad of 2 Medivacs of marines and a raven to clear creep somewhere on the map and then plant down a planetary or two when it has receded? Or will creep recede too slowly?
I really liked your suggestion of a 'slow run' instead of a speed run. Ultimate Terran turtle style! We'd get a lot of epic late-game action with BCs / mass ghosts w/ nukes. Chaotic insanity.
@uthermal everytime you do the PF rush, you load the scv. But soon as you land the CC you instantly unload it and just let it sit there and die. You should kite it away and bring it back when you plan to hard defend the CC. This time you ran away with the reapers and left the scv to die
Who would have thought a race with facemelting siege air units, tanks, EMP, snipe, armored fighting repairable gather points, sensor towers, and unlimited unstoppable detection could ever be attacked?
13:15 pretty sure the reason your pathing failed when you tried to through the gold mineral wall is because you only cleared vision on one of them being mined out, but didn't get vision to show the further one was mined out. so when you try to autopath, from your POV, the mineral wall is still there, so it autopaths you assuming you can't get through there
Sc2 pathing is done on the actual map, not your POV of it. You can often see uThermal use this to check whether the opponent has a wall-off in his main without actually going onto the high ground. This is for performance reasons: the Starcraft 2 engine does a lot of precalculations to make the pathfinding algorithm run smoothly, and it has to redo these calculations every time the pathing map changes (which is basically every time a structure is built, a depo is lowered or raised, a terran building is lifted or landed, a tank is sieged or unsieged, a mineral field is mined out, etc). That is already a lot of work for your CPU, even without having to store up to 12 different pathing maps, and recalculate them every time your vision changes. Since the networking in Sc2 is based on deterministic lockstep, your PC would need to recalculate the pathing maps for all players, not only for you.
Hi uThermal! I'm wondering, just theoretically, if you were to go pro again, do you think any of the challenges you've done would have helped you at all? Would any of the builds be viable at the highest level of play? Do you think your raven micro / ghost play / knowledge of where to land nukes / anything would actually make a difference? Thanks. Awesome videos, very entertaining :-D
A tip (possibly of the horrible variety): If you have turrets or other buildings in your mineral patch, I think it would be beneficial to mine with 18/16 SCV's, since their pathing is disrupted and they are obviously not mining at maximum efficiency.
Actually if you notice workers wait a little while before starting mining so it doesn't really help with the closer mineral patches but the farther ones can yield a little bit more income if you mine with 20 workers. That's what Alphastar (AI) used to do to get a bit more resources before transferring workers. It's not a big deal though mostly, you're getting very little value for those works as opposed if they were transferred to a next base (unless they die there ^^).
I began to play 1v1 after playing nothing but 2v2 for ages... It really hurt my MMR, sending me down to Bronze. After going 1v1, I went straight up to Gold in no time. Seems most people are trying a meta that doesn't come close to what my strategy accounts for... Thanks uThermal!
I want to see a multi-planetary rush. Two at once or something mind bogglingly silly. And mine their minerals while attacking and repairing if possible
Desert storm challenge, attack worker-lines with libs and medivac drops constantly, maybe do a one episode special for this since i cant think of less vague rules for this atm
I'd love to see some macro challenges. I still have my challenge for you that I think could go with that harass idea by using only aggressive structures. So you'd be full defensive slowly taking over the whole map with turrets and PFs while using small units to harass opponents. I'd watch it regardless the length of time.
I think those comments that you were bad were more joking/sarcastic then serious. You did comment a lot at that video that you are bad in a similar manner so that could be just a "follow up". Anyway your video did deliver as always. Keep up the good work. 👍
I get the feeling from some of Thermy's games that modern Starcraft II has been left in a state where players have too few comeback mechanics for an early mistake against even just proficient opponents. I know Marc is out here doing all kinds of crazy builds with some very real success, but I think the game has always been too focused on the high-level meta and tournament play over fun/variety.
I wonder if a mule could have saved the PF in game 3. I worker was out right at the end. it was a matter of second. But then again, we got 15 minutes more game time because it was not done, so all good :D

8:00 uThermal unintentionally BM'ed with a manner command center (watch it fly into zerg's 3rd base on minimap)
LMFAO that is epic!
What is BM'ed?
Your vids have become part of my morning routine. News followed by your chill and humble shenanigans is a great way to start the day.
