I'm definitely getting a Tesla when I get my driver's license. I'm loving these Tesla videos and it's awesome that you can campout in your SUV without having to go to a cabin.
Nice that's a great choice! Yeah it's the perfect setup, it has allowed me to travel all over affordably too.
@@taylordencermedia That's awesome. I learned a lot from your videos because knowing me, I definitely would've been confused as to where everything is on the screen and how to access everything on the Tesla. I seen some used 2022 and 2023 Tesla Y for $30K of course newer ones would be above $50K.
Pro tip or stating the obvious. Why charge past 80-90% when you know you're stopping again?? Battery health better at 80-90%, charging speed severely drops in the last 10-20%, too. Also no risk of paying idle fees.
You still pay idle fees, whether you set the charge limit to 80% or 100%.
And I guess I was choosing to charge to 100% because that would make my next charging stop shorter. But it works either way. Either I charge 30 mins at two different stops, or I charge 40 mins at one and 20 mins at the next. But I’ll keep this in mind next trip I go on. I obviously try to charge to 100% before arriving at campgrounds but I guess it doesn’t matter to do 100% when I have other charging stops ahead.
That last 20% from 80% to 100% can take as long or longer than it does from 20-80%. The charging rate has to slow significantly as the battery gets closer to full capacity. You’re getting much fewer kWh of energy added to the battery per minute of charging time. There are exceptional situations (like camping at Bryce) where you might have no choice but to charge to 100% if that is what is needed to reach your destination and/or charging opportunity. Some campgrounds have electric outlets for RVs and will allow EVs to plug in overnight. Call ahead to confirm availability and type of adapter needed. Anyway I enjoyed the video of Bryce where I worked almost 50 years ago.@@taylordencermedia
Watching this video makes me want to move back out west.
Exploring the west has been so much fun!!
Hi from Dublin Ireland .. Loved your video - Great watch ! Looking forward to doing the same in my new Model Y. Thanks for all the tips :-)
Hello!! Thanks for commenting! Ireland is beautiful, enjoy your Tesla camping adventures!!
Great video summary here is what i was looking for thanks! 22:00
Thank you!
Love this video 😊 I’m taking notes for when I go camping in my Tesla!
Thank you! Ah that’s awesome you’re gonna love it!
Zy-zicks! I'd love to drive the Model 3 SR+ out to somewhere like Zion but I'm a bit chicken lol. I've driven a fuel powered vehicle to Zion before and it was pretty desolate overall. I will say though the campground that I stayed up just up the road from the park entrance all had 240v charging outlets even at the tent camping spots. You park your own car there and then there's space for you to set up your tent. I could just ditch the tent and camp in the 3 in the designated spot. The place I stayed at was called Zion River Resort if I recall correctly. Pretty nice and clean place, good prices too all things considered. Thanks for the video and sharing your journey!
You could definitely make it to Zion! Plenty of superchargers along the way.
Thanks for your support!
I like to use percentage instead of the miles for the battery
Sometimes I go by percentage as well, but thanks for the feedback because I can see how that would be helpful. I’ll start mentioning what percent it is as well as the miles remaining.
good tesla car camping👍👍
Thank you!
I really enjoyed watching your video! Keep making Tesla videos
Thank you so much! I have more videos in progress on some new accessories I got recently so I’ll be sharing all about those!
@@taylordencermedia I would really love to see more Tesla camping road trips 💪
@@Cyku92yep I plan to do more of those too! Currently trying to plan where I’ll be going next
@@taylordencermedia how about from LA to Seattle?
@@Cyku92unfortunately that’s too far to drive since I only have so many days off!
Just watched your other Tesla camping videos, Utah is sooo epic!! Have you been to Moab? This makes me wanna buy a Tesla and take it camping
Thank you!! I have not been to Moab but it’s on my list. And definitely do it!
Deconstructing our setup at a supercharger instead of at 5:30am was so smart of us
Absolutely!! Also better than waiting until we get home when we’re way too tired haha
Do you have the adapter to charge at a campground using a 30a RV outlet, 30a to 50a campground adapter, and Tesla travel charger? At the right campgrounds you can wake up on full charge and never worry about camp mode draining your battery.
I unfortunately did not have the correct adapter with me. I have a NEMA 14-50 and a 5-15, but before the next trip I will definitely be getting a 10-30
What was the first campground? Looks amazing!
Dark Sky RV Park in Kanab, UT! It was SO amazing…if you like glamping or a little luxury camping it’s so amazing. They are a bit picky with who they accept reservations from, so they don’t allow car camping (unless you’re in a Tesla I guess, since Tesla has camp mode). But I saw several large RV’s there too!
@@taylordencermedia Thank you!
Do you have more information about the platform you built?
Sorta…I originally found some Reddit post about it but the guy messed up his measurements so it was a big mess 😂 so kinda had to figure it out on the fly. I might make a video about it!
Thanks for the video. How do you find your camping sites?
Thanks for your comment! I really just do a lot of googling. I’ll type “campgrounds in Zion national park” for example, and it’ll generate options if they exist. You can also go to recreation.gov and type in your destination. They have an app too!
Thank you!
I checked out the really nice rv site you used. They are saying no car camping. Is that new?
Thanks.
@@lindastroud2364 ah yes, unfortunately they don’t allow car camping. For some reason they do however allow “Tesla Camping” because it fits their brand of being a nicer campground and since Tesla has “camp mode” so they only allow car camping in a Tesla. Kind of a silly rule but I guess if that’s how they want to market their campground then 🤷🏻♀️
How did you build the platform in the back of the car? Can you make a video about that? Did you cut the 2x4's to an angle to flatten the back? ... I'm having the same issue camping in the car and wanna solve it
Yep I plan to make a video about it! There’s sort of two parts to the build, and I haven’t built part 2 of it yet. But I can at least show what I’ve done in the meantime
@@taylordencermediaI am waiting on the platform video
@@chetankulkarni489 me too!
Finally made a video on the platform!

Hey Taylor, did you wrap your car to prevent rock chips and if so what did you use?
I have not wrapped my car, but I probably should!
If she didn't speak and open the frunk, you could tell a couple of women were camping. The frunk was organized and had smoothies in it. If they were guys, the frunk would be disorganized and have beer in it.
Haha, yeah I don’t drink alcohol but I do like to be organized 😂
What a nice compliment
Nice video .can we help u to create a new experience video of Tesla accessories for ur followers ?how about campaign accessory ?😁
How much was the campground that had the amazing bathroom with heated floors?
I think we spent around $85/night but I'd check their website for most up to date rates. www.darkskyrv.com/
@@taylordencermedia 👍 Thanks.
We survived our first major road trip! Now onto the next adventure!
Where should we go next??
How was your Thanksgiving this year ?
Finally a hot chick to many dudes ❤❤
Great video! Jealous of your travels, well done! K.O.
Thank you so much! I enjoy sharing these journeys so that people who may not be able to experience it in person can still enjoy it!
