Wow! The most pleasant surprise for me on the net tonight! I could have never seen this one coming. That Randy went right down and picked one of my most favourite of the anonymous but great Hendrix grooves, and serves it up so well, with so much verve and spirit. Oh man! This is beyond impactfully beautiful. It is almost as beautiful as the very creation of the universe itself! Big up Randy!
Great to hear this under-rated Hendrix song being revived and so true to it's original spirit and vibe,..Randy is just amazing and gets the vibe just right.
Sam Denad yeah correct it's on an album called 'Loose Ends' but also Jimi played 'Burning Desire' live [luckily for us fans] at the 'Band of Gypsies ' gig at the Filmore east ....and Randy uses ideas from both the studio jams and that live version....he gets the intro riff from th Filmore gig :}
I remember when I bought Loose Ends in the 70s I thought hmmm......too many ideas and too many left handed Jazz cigarettes.But yeah I dig it now.Kudos to Randy and band .Stella performance.
INCREDIBLE! 'Ausgeseignet!'(Excuse my Deutsch!) Nailed all the changes, no other guitarist would attempt this- glad the fans let you do the mellow part w/o yelling 'Macht Schau!'
This is so incredible! It’s like watching Hendrix! But sober and better even! I don’t get it he is playing a one off bootleg that I found in 1984 in a Safeway on cassette and it had on side B this gem Burning Desire, and Blue Suede Shoes a jam with Miles and he was telling Miles how to play the intro for the drums... boom chaka boom Chaka boom chaka boom chaka boom... And miles played it and starts his jam And sings- one for the money , two for the shoes and three get ready .... And he’s playing it now in 2016
I am amazed at Randy and the bands talent, almost unbelievable. I believe Ted Nugent is a phenomenal guitarist also. That being said, I recently watched a video of Nugent and many of the comments were very positive of Ted's skill. But, so many of the comments were negative and targeting his conservative platform. When Randy speaks of Donald Trump in such a derogatory way as being president shows an ignorance of the highest level. The United States and the world is not in the present chaos because of Donald Trump. Everyone thinks its cool to put down Ted Nugent because of his politics , how do you like our present border crisis or the wars and rumors of wars around the world how about our economy? We haven't seen the worst yet! Trump is not our savior Jesus Christ is.
weekendpartier it’s more then emulating the look ( Hendrix flipped a righty strat cause he was lefty) when you do a restring & set the guitar up “reverse” the string tension changes slightly giving it a snapped bass response and brighter treble string tone. The pickup poles flip ( and angle of bridge pickup) - some day this added to his overall tone. Fender released a right handed Hendrix model strat recently with a lefty neck & pickup setup to emulate that a bit.... playing a strat upside down is a learning curve for sure.
Randy is also left handed but forced himself to play right handed so his fret hand would be his dominant one. The opposite with Hendrix, Jimi was in fact right handed but he played left handed for the same reason. Imagine your most dexterous hand being the fret hand, it would surely help, you then just have to train the other hand to strum/pick which cannot be that difficult over a little time...with practice.
How can people say this is even better than the original..no way....come on. That is out of anybodies mind. These are fine musicians but none of them has anything on the original Gypsys line up....In that respect I cannot understand why these kind of obviously professional musicians, willnot get it,or do not go for it. this is just playing the notes, especially the bass and drums do as if they've learned the piece by script ...every night the same, no soul no hard no nothing. Randy is quite good, plays like himself but looks very much to copy Hendrix...only he is not ...I would like set up groups like this to get realy stoned or drunk and go out and fuck off let's do it..our own way...start thumping start plucking and bamboom distortion in overdrive....imho
@SI that is in a way what i mean,but there is more than just the composing...the creativity and power..for example take "like a rolling stone" or " all along the watchtower" ,both songs by Dylan. Hendrix outperforms anybody...I know like 4 or 5 different live renditions of Hendrix playing Burning desire, all of them incredible exciting ,far more so than any Randy Hansen performance, even if he puts in all tricks and combines stuff from studio,demo and live Hendrix work, it is just not as powerfull. I told people before there is single notes or even silence notes that Hendrix played that outplay all other players...he is just that good..
The fact that this is happening now ( 2016 ) is a gift !! Today people don’t give a fuck about History
Such a great rendition!
I hear you Randy hands down the best person to keep Jimi Hendrix music blasting in the 21st century !!! Respect
This rhythm section is awesome ... visually and sonically
What a fully realized version of this song would have sounded like. Fantastic solos.
Randy knows his stuff, taking different elements from the studio and live versions that jimi played.

why's he playing a left-handed Strat upside down and right handed??

Hanson is the best one....except for Hendrix.
