When i heard little wing on jimis album recording all those years ago i thought what a beauitful simple work on guitar UNTIL NOW i realise after watching Randy play how incredibly complicated it is to sound like Jimi. Those fingers are working overtime on the fretboard. Again many thanks to Randy for this trip down memory lane.

I first bought the Jimi Hendrix documentary soundtrack on 8track because of a guitarist friend pushing me to get it and it has a lot of live raw concert stuff and I just heard noise. My little brain wasn’t ready, then Little Wing played, the rest is mystery.
I love the embedded Voodoo Chile at 01:17 I've seen Randy something like 10 times over the last 20 or so years - mainly in small clubs - and I have to keep watching clips like this to remind myself just how good he is. There are a lot of people who have tried to copy Jimi but none has even come close except for Randy. I once took an American friend to a Randy concert. He had seen Jimi in the 60s and I asked him what the difference was between Jimi and Randy. His answer was that Randy could sing 😀
Nichole is correct: SRV; Robin Trower and many others borrowed heavily from Jimi - and all with great respect, but they all had their own thing too and put their thumb-print on the music every time they covered it so it clearly was "them". Randy on the other hand is super faithful to replicate the Hendrix sound with very little change which is why his audio recordings are often confused by listeners with actual Hendrix recordings - with the rare exception (SRV's Little Wing Instrumental) that doesn't happen too much with other artists.
Saw Randy 42+ years ago at the Point East in Dyer, Indiana. That's a very long run. I'm 64 now and old. But Randy is still out there doing it. SRV is the only other one that does Jimi justice besides RH. I had the same vintage 50 watt 1977 Marshall rigs Randy had here. They're long gone.
Randy, What ever happened to the strat I built You in Pacific Grove? The one you used on The Germany TV Concert. Mike Holland said, "That you really liked it" The EVANS Pickups, Floyd Rose 2. and the beautiful wood left handed neck. What was not to Like? I still have it's brother guitar, EVANS handwired Humbucker, tele birdseye Maple neck. Neck, Middle EVANS strat pickups! .Tele body Solid Spruce, Floyd Rose 1, Voice and Beauty and Sustain, it has it all.
I can’t believe that you’ve got some Morans in the audience chatting away while this great artist is playing some of the best Hendrix that we will ever hear. That it to the parking lot people….
people like @spinmancorner7543 are the ones who make artists very bored when they perform. standing still, not talking, not dancing, not reacting. just listening because "they paid for a ticket"

I saw Randy I believe in Kent, Washington in about 77 I think..He did his Jimi take very well. Chopping down the Family Tree is still very Hendrixy, but the guy can play.
Looks like the 68 Japan reissue he's playing. Curious on the gear! Pedals and guitars I mean I see the plexi's or plexish amps. Before the nerds attack...
What beautiful tone. The vocals are so naturally in Hendrix's natural rhythm, it's hard to imagine that it's anyone else.
Randy has been doing this for over 40 years now. NO ONE even comes close to what he has done and never will in the rest of the history of mankind.

Randy is an icon - no doubt he covers Jimi but he does it best and always gives 110%
He plays with the soul of Hendrix...and makes it look so friggin easy.
