It's hard enough to merely play Jimi Hendix's riffs... that alone takes years of study. But Randy Hansen has the entire package down, even more consistently than his muse was able to pull off live. The VOCALS are what astound me - it's so close to Jimi that I swear his ghost is onstage. There are lots of videos of him out there that are great... but I think this is Mr. Hansen at the peak of his talent. Humbling, inspiring, and just fucking awesome...
Hendrix’s music is 60 years old. Jimi Hendrix was far ahead in during his time. Because NO body played (double stops) Hendrix probably got from muddy waters) rhythm n blues chops. But Jimi took double stops up another notch. Extreme! The entire album (axis bold as love) is the guitar bible for double stops rhythm n blues chops. Although the recording of axis bold as love is NOT best. Most people don’t hear everything Jimi is actually doing. Until they LEARN the songs on guitar themselves. In 67 Jimi lost original master recording. Were left with the a record the experience had to start from scratch re record almost everything in one day because deadline
This is the best line up too. Not saying the ones he tours with back in here in the United States are bad, but this line up seems to gel the best. I've been watching his videos over the years, I'm hoping that since TH-cam has taken down most of Hendrix original music down due to copyright issues that people start listening to Randy Hansen more. He deserves to be heard. Even my stepdad, who has seen Hendrix twice, said he could've sworn Randy was Hendrix because I had hid the video from him. Hansen is the real deal.
Randy and the band are really awesome: You can't even call him an "impersonator" since he sings and plays Jimi's music with feeling and infinite passion. This version of Hear my train... is simply incredible!!
Randy Hansen with his German rhythm section, Manni and Ufo, is the best incarnation of the band. The sound quality of these Karlsruhe gigs is the best I’ve come across, very clear, and balanced.
Randy is such a wonderful person and player. What a great gift, this man, who is a great musician on his own, gives all his talent and knowledge to keep Jimi's music alive.
You get the Joke. There is no Randy Hansen, Jimi was sent back to earth as an symbiot and only Randy's body was fit to carry him. THX Randy for keeping the spirit of Jimi alive.
Randy is just supernatural man and wow Ufo and Manny are such a killer rythym section holding it down man the musicianship is truly stellar here man Randys vibrato is sick man i t s spot on and his voice is spot on ....eery and supernatural .......
How could ANYONE put a thumbs down on this performance? I've been listening to Randy since the late 70's and he's amazing. If you liked this, find some of his performances of "Machine Gun". Every nuance of Jimi's live performance at the Fillmore East is there. Randy is brilliant.
Randy has taken Hendrix music to new levels by personalizing it and performing it for decades ( something Jimi tragically did not wind up doing.... imagine where he would have taken it!) with love and talent. I’d say he is a top notch musician and performer in his own right who happens to do Hendrix with more respect and precision than anyone I’ve seen. I believe the persona, outfits, guitar and moves all give we who didn’t experience Jimi a genuine taste ! Rock on brother Randy !
thank fuck for randy hansen, keeping the spirit of hendrix alive, he is, by far, the nearest we are going to get to the great man himself, long may you continue randy, ps, haul your ass over to the uk sometime.
Sometimes I watch this a couple a times a day throughout the week. I'm an old dawg... 66 years old. I didn't know of Randy till about 2 years ago. I saw that he even visited Melbourne to play at the Palais. How I wished I'd have seen them there. What a great man.... and then next on the list comes Machine gun .... sooo good. All the best from Australia.
Randy Hansen was by far the closest thing to Jimi Hendrix, if you watch him live yes he was really awesome, but try to close your eyes and feel the music, you will sense it, its Jimi... hes there 🤘🤘🤘✌️✌️✌️
I remember back in 1975, 76, I saw Randy Hansen at a night club in Orange County California, he played "1983, A Merman I Should Turn T Be". I could not believe how spot on it was, it sounded just like from the Electric Ladyland album . Randy was a trio and he played it flawlessly, I was impressed. Everytime he came through Los Angeles I was there, at least 4-5 times. Thank you Randy you always delivered and gave me my Jimi fix.I recall at least 2 club gigs, The Santa Monica Civic and The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach.
Hear My Train at Comin 'is one of my favorite Hendrix songs. This guy from Randy Hanson made me bristle the hair on his arm at ground time. Really very good.
I seen Randy in the mid '70s at the Tower theater with a friend. Jeff and I were absolutely floored by the performance. Straight up Hendrix Tribute! And man, what a tribute it was. Never seen him tour in the same fashion. At least not around philly. Good times....miss ya Jeff. Hope you're well.
What is most important is Randy sounds 95% Hendrix and the other 5% is his own . I'm glad. I'm glad there is another Jimi for those of us who were very unfortunate enough to have missed the person and his performances.
I hear Randy but I hear the soul of Jimi. It is uncanny. As a guitarist I owned every wax produced. Spent untold hours. Funkadelic once offered a job.1990? Never saw live.
The world saw Hendrix we don't need to see the 19 now now we need to see a new shining light that lights up and take us to higher ground. Randy Hansen is highlighting Hendrix creation. You got to be your own magic.
@@issimonete keep on watching & be happy they making faking bacon. It's healthy. Hendrizzzz made two Bob Dylan's songs explode,Hansen ain't making Jimi music his music. Gittar playas Creamy & Itch took a lotta Hendrizzzzxx joints and did Major Justice to them, but of course y'all wouldn't know that cause y'all don't cross the track,Randy Hansen don't neither. You got to Splurge,Jimi Hendrix did.
Amazing as always, and still having a blast after all these years. A funny note ... not only does he play a left-handed strat upside down, he even has a backwards "Fender Stratocaster" decal, taking the mirror image to it's logical conclusion! Great little tongue in cheek joke. (check it out at 6:52)
Pretty fucking impressive!!! I'm a huge jimi Hendrix fan and play guitar pretty fair myself...but not that well. Jimi would most certainly be proud. Great job randy!
All Hendrix fans know the song on are u expecting ( can you see me) you would never see Hendrix being Hansen or dressing like any other white dude in the universe. If you could you would see a future zillionyears. That would be Super impressive
When Jimi passed away his soul didn't go to Heaven.. it entered Randy Hansen
It's hard enough to merely play Jimi Hendix's riffs... that alone takes years of study. But Randy Hansen has the entire package down, even more consistently than his muse was able to pull off live. I was bummed not being able to find a good recording of “who knows”… but Randy’s version was incredible.
nothing in the last 45 years even approaches this.
Randy is the only one who captures the spirituality and freedom of Jimi.
Stellar musician.
the only authentic Hendrix impersonator
This is the best line up too. Not saying the ones he tours with back in here in the United States are bad, but this line up seems to gel the best. He is better
You got that right
Randy is awesome. I call it a tribute, not an impersonation.
Absolutely the best guy doing Jimi Hendrix period!!!!!
Randy aint tired of jimi hendrix and he's been playing the experiences and gypsys song since 75 and that's cause Jimis songs are that darn good
Randy and the band are really awesome: You can't even call him an "impersonator" since he sings and plays Jimi's music with feeling and infinite passion. This version of Hear my train... is simply incredible!!
johnny4blues Yeah, he's giving Homage to Hendrix.
also, it's been said that he plays Hendrix longer than Jimi Hedrix played Hendrix
When I close my eyes it’s like Jimi is up there doing his thing
Hey when the Hendrix family recognizes you do Jimi.
I love Hendrix. But I love Randy Hansen, and U.F.O. Walter is insane. Whole band is awesome.
Randy Hansen with his German rhythm section, Manni and Ufo, is the best incarnation of the band. The sound quality of these Karlsruhe gigs is the best I’ve come across, very clear, and balanced.
Thanks! It's a multitrack-recording. Ufo himself did the soundmix. 😉
don't ever get tired,we love it,im 70,and ur the closest to Jimi I ever heard.very good.
damn, 70 here, this guy and band are head shakingly good.
How cool Ufo's bass lines are in this one. And his hat too!
Randy is such a wonderful person and player. What a great gift, this man, who is a great musician on his own, gives all his talent and knowledge to keep Jimi's music alive.
Hey Randy, you are the closest thing to Jimi Hendrix we ALL have, kudos to you, and don't ever stop playing Jimi's Tunes!
Thank you,Randy.
Amazing.. first time hearing this guy. Wow, sounds just like Jimi.
You get the Joke. There is no Randy Hansen, Jimi was sent back to earth as an symbiot and only Randy's body was fit to carry him. THX Randy for keeping the spirit of Jimi alive.
Saw Randy many times in the Bay Area in the 70s-80s. Always a grest show.
How the fuck can anyone thumbs down this kind of badassery?
jelously
Unbelievable...... So happy that Randy is here to carry on this music PEACE TO EVERYONE
Randy is just supernatural man and wow Ufo and Manny are such a killer rythym section holding it down man the musicianship is truly stellar here man Randys vibrato is sick man i t s spot on and his voice is spot on ....eery and supernatural .......

N0 cruxifiction,no ressurection,no Jimi Hendrix,no opionation. Eating good off a another from another M other. Faking the Bacon

So True !
Wow Randy is the best. It's like Jimi come back from the death xD
Wow what a magical trip no other band can take me to.
Randy Seems like, no, This guy I don't know just like how Jimi has it......sounds like it is actually Jimi up there 200% and more.....incredible!
I remember back in 1975, 76, I saw Randy Hansen at a night club in Orange County California, he played "1983, A Merman I Should Turn T Be".

Saw him on the blue cruise. A great time!
This is proof that Jimi Hendrix didn't die..he only changed his name to Randy Hansen.
Randi eres muy bueno.
Smoking guitar playing, really amazing
Killin' it!This goes beyond a mere tribute. This is somehtin' else.I'm not sure what but it's like a shaman channeling a spirit.
Hear My Train at Comin 'is one of my favorite Hendrix songs. This guy from Randy Hanson made me bristle the hair on his arm at ground time. Really very good.
Many people try and some can copy Hendrix guitar work, but that voice is scary good. Never heard anything close.
Agreed
Close ain't good, the real deal is what's happening
in 1972 beginning I studied Hendrix 3 solid years, closed eyes and no difference except i know, so spontaneous
fantastic dont forget JIMI wrote these songs him self
I seen Randy in the mid '70s at the Tower theater with a friend. Jeff and I were absolutely floored by the performance. Straight up Hendrix Tribute! And man, what a tribute it was. Never seen him tour in the same fashion. At least not around philly. Good times....miss ya Jeff. Hope you're well.
Hey isn’t this guy ranked number one on the Rolling Stone top guitarists of all time? 🤔
I like Randy's singing too !
Yes, very impressive indeed, a real pleasure, what a luxury and amazing "experience" to hear him play, astounding!!! //Chris
What is most important is Randy sounds 95% Hendrix and the other 5% is his own . I'm glad. I'm glad there is another Jimi for those of us who were very unfortunate enough to have missed the person and his performances.

The world saw Hendrix we don't need to see the 19 now now we need to see a new shining light that lights up and take us to higher ground. Randy Hansen is highlighting Hendrix creation. You got to be your own magic.
Hansen is clearly happy doing what he’s doing. And I am very happy to watch him perform. Keep doing whatever you’re doing Randy!
@@issimonete keep on watching & be happy they making faking bacon. It's healthy. Hendrizzzz made two Bob Dylan's songs explode,Hansen ain't making Jimi music his music.
