I'll consider to become a member to access the tutorial if some discount comes around the corner. I believe in paying a good price for valuable training but since its just a hobby lets see once I've handle the fundamentals first. great tuto by the way :)
Cool tutorial. Small suggestion. When using knife tool instead of cutting out of precision and then scaling it to zero, you can use angle constraint while in knife project. I hope that saves time, especially in Sci-Fi almost all objects have a fixed angle such as 30,45,60 and 90 degrees. Tutorial is awesome as always. 😎✌️
Wow, can't believe I didn't know about that one! Thanks for the advice, friend. I'll make sure to put it to good use, thanks for checking out the video too! -Chunck :)
@Alexander Jones You are right. Knife tool angle constraint cannot be modified & it cuts only 45 and 90 degree but there are workarounds (depending on the model we cut). My point is for angled cuts can use knife tool and in general about sci fi things, I've said they are angled such as 30 , 45 , 60 and 90 degrees. (This sentence is about Sci-Fi things and not about Knife tool). 😀✌️
04:38 - The technical term for the stuff that surrounds a door is called the "frame." It's composed of the "head Jamb" and "side jambs." The fancy trim stuff all around it is called the "Casing." (Who comes up with these names?) And yeah, I used to be a carpenter. I'm also a walking encyclopedia of useless information. Nice tut, BTW.

I did it by right clicking the clamp cubes in Object Mode > Convert to mesh. Then in edit mode, I select a clamp (if you select a face and press "L" you select all linked faces), then press "P"' to seperate by selection. I did this for each clamp. Then you do the same with the side panel, you convert it to mesh, then select all the vertices and seperate by selection. Then you select and join (CTRL + J) all the left clamps with the left panel and the right clamps with the right panel. I hope this is still useful to you both or someone else reading this.

Hi. Please, make a small tutorial about multiple UV maps for the same object, where different textures are used for separate faces of it. I watched so many videos about that topic. Most of them are about baking textures to a single one. Some of them, two of three, are discussing the right topic, but, not in detail. From my experience, I'm always getting the wrong images on the wrong faces or even empty maps, instead of a surface with multiple decals. Thanks in advance.
Cant seem to get the mirror modifier to do anything when he says he is moving the object off the origin on the Y axis and then checks the Y axis of the mirror modifier to create the 2nd door part. Mine just adds it right where the object is, doesnt ever seem to move off the origin. Ah finally got it. He said Y axis, but it was the Z axis to mirror for me
I use Blender 2.92.0. Same problem here as well. He selects the Y axis and it mirrors opposite of the door like in the video, but I have to mirror it to the Z axis for it to work. Maybe something changed between 2.8 and 2.9 that affects this?
I can't say there is any one specific course you should take before this, however we do offer several videos on the channel that covers how to model a character or another on an assault rifle. To follow along with "Let's Build It" videos, you'll just need to be somewhat comfortable in Blender in general, as I don't cover every detail in great specificity. -Chunck :)
Hi everyone, Can someone help me please? 02:42 - I can add the first loop and use bevel to create two loops, however whenever I use bevel on the two separate loops it goes all wonky and doesn't create smooth section. Thanks in advance Edit - So after some investigation my loop appears to angle up when it gets to the beveled edge rather than remaining straight. Any ideas to fix would be welcome.
hey, I think it might be because the loops aren't flat along the z axis - to fix this, you can just scale each loop on the z by 0 This happens because, by default, loop cuts try to match the flow of the other geometry so the line will be wonky unless you press E (for 'even') to get the loop cut to match the flow of the bottom edges which are flat!
If you already have the door open keyframe, copy and paste it with ctrl+shift+v, this will inverse the result. Hope that it helps, sorry, I see your question was 1 year ago. Still, if you already solve this, someone else could have same issue, so I though, it is worth to answer, even if late.
It's very difficult to follow what the speaker is saying. For example when you say, "I want to add and join these vertices", it sounds like "I want to hide and join these vertices." Took me 10 minutes to future it out. Otherwise love the detailed tutorial with so much effort put in.
