    Thank you for a very informative video. Apart from the usual 'irregularities' of potholes, trenches, sunken metal manhole covers, etc. the worst danger to most motorists is the cheap and nasty loose chippings that the authorities have the cheek to call re-surfacing and which end up through vehicle radiators, through windscreens, and which do a marvellous job of damaging paintwork before ending up in piles in the middle of the road or on the edge.
    In general the appalling condition of Britain's roads is a national disgrace and an international embarrassment.
    A Dutch friend once said to me that the Brits used to drive on the left of the road. Now they drive on what's left of the road.

    Ovalled a rear wheel in a pothole some years ago. Got an used wheel as a replacement, wasn't too expensive. I'd like to hear about anyone who's actually seen a farmer hose mud from a roadway. I think there's more likelihood of ET coming to tea or of finding an honest politician.

    Best biking advice I received was; 1. Enter corners slowly especially if you can’t see the exit, but you can exit them fast!, 2. Never ever overtake when approaching a right junction even if cars not indicating, 3. in a group ride don’t be #3 unless very careful not to be pulled into an overtake by the first two bikes, 4. Never be pushed into riding quicker than you’re comfortable or racing someone just for ego.

    Every year starting around May we get the same old madness of local authorities adopting "Cheap Jack" road maintenance by pouring tar on the road surface followed by excessive amounts of gravel. This type of resurfacing roads should be banned because it creates a very dangerous environmental namely of "A" loss of grip and "B" massive amounts of flying debris which causes so much damage to vehicles. How on earth this type of resurfacing is allowed flies in the face (forgive the pun) of common sense and safety. What we have here is the local authorities being able to get away with this "Cheap Jack" so called Surface Dressing, sticking up s few signs saying "Skid Risk". Every time you drive over this stuff you are damaging your vehicle by spraying loose chipings everywhere very often bouncing across the road into on coming traffic. Absolute madness.

    I live and ride in Mexico. What I like about this place is that you're pretty much 100% responsible for yourself. Any of these scenarios are my problem and mine alone. There's something very pleasing to me about not having people to blame. Here, you're the rider, it's your bike, you control it - so you own it. I have insurance and it's for things like this.

      when the roads in some places are so bad that its almost impossible not to hit potentially crash-inducing holes, im not sure i like being 100% responsible. i like being responsible when it's all up to me, but with the way roads are lately if i go down it'll likely be someone else's fault. i dont want to be responsible for that... but here in the ol' us of a i probably am.

    • @tinymotogarage
      @tinymotogarage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@powersportsenthusiast1986 Hahahah - yeah I get it. Honestly, the roads I ride on are unsuitable for sportbikes. I've encountered snakes, horses, concrete blocks, a big ass croc, broken vehicles, gravel, oil and 4" deep potholes that are the width of the road - just to name a few. You ride expecting it to be crappy and that's the difference I think. The highways here are good and the city roads are mainly OK, but the "fun" roads can be pretty tough - but I like that (why I ride ADV or Dual Sport). Stay safe amigo :)

      @@BenBennnis That's what I love about bikes - means something different to every rider. I like adventure and the twistie rougher stuff - some love open smooth highways and some only ride track or dirt. It's an amazingly diverse sport/hobby I think. Ride safe man.

    Ah the joys of being an experienced biker for over 43 years mostly in the UK and can honestly say as a farmers lad from Cornwall that your vid I hope brings home the warnings re meeting a tractor, animals in the road (believe me we had visitors having a picnic in a field and leaving the gate open to allow cattle onto the road.. 😗Hay lorries leaving HAY on the road.. not good .. mud of course.. cattle poo.. you can slide nicely on that, whilst taking in the aroma...also when the fields have been sprayed with cattle poo.. nice aromatic poo slick across the road.. 👀🙂Rabbits (or hares) OMG believe me I've come across those at night .. that caught in the glare of the lights re rabbits appears to be factual.. they just stand there.. OR decide at the last minute as you're right up close and about to become bosom buddies.. well with them getting acquainted with your front wheel.. though back wheel roll overs too can be deeply disturbing.. like going over those notorious speed bumps..😗 DEER.. nooooo you do NOT want to get the taste for venison.. with those in the fields around you.. or even on some open areas.. believe me if you saw the damage they do to a car et.. imagine the impact re YOU on a bike.. Uhh actually you wouldn't be on the bike.. 😗OIL slicks, diesel spills as motorcycle professional inter city courier, diesel spills could be a seriously bad experience.. HOWEVER one thing I want to point out .. NEVER EVER apply your brakes.. if its safe to let it slide as in a skid et then let it slide, wait until traction returns then gently accelerate ..😗 WATER on the roads.. I'm not talking winter ice et here but in some country areas you can encounter a STREAM across the road.. liken to what we call a FORD.. if its been heavy rainfall et that can be problematic.. Where an area of the road is FLOODED ah yes.. coming up behind that car in front who hits the water at speed and slams up a mini tsunami in their wake to slam against you.. drenching you.. oh yes.. been there, seen it done, it got SOAKED.. LORRIES, VANS et 😗Who hasn't been behind the car or other vehicle (gritting lorries NO thankyou.) blasting your paintwork.. et As Jim Sadler quotes.. cheap and nasty loose chippings.. Love the quote Jim 'the Brits used to drive on the left of the road. Now they drive on what's left of the road.' 🙂🤣

    I guess the point is 'It doesn't really matter who or why the road is/was made dangerous', be it Mud, gravel, sheep or cow shyte, potholes.... unexpected manholes etc!....You the rider need to be focused at all times.... Micheal's right a public road isn't a race track and must not be treated as one... its a dangerous environment for a motorcyclist. I live and ride in Spain, where, apart from sheep and/or goat 'droppings' the surfaces are very good....Serpents Negra..(black bitumen) used to fill cracks in the road surface does make the rear wheel 'step out' on freshly applied. This does cause your bum to 'suck in air' and/or clench the seat!.... certainly concentrates the mind...

    Interesting. I reside in Canada and over here you are expected to ride to the conditions present. We live with months of ice and snow on roads, then when snow melts you have cracks, pot holes, frost heaves and tons of sand and gravel spread as traction aids. So you must ride with care. If there is mud on the road; drive with care. If there are bumps in the road the Gov't might put a warning sign or they may not. You must drive to the conditions of the road. A big difference in cultures.

    In 30+ biking years I've never ever heard of taking samples of the road debris.
    My personal experience & that of others I've known is to take plenty of photos at the scene & debris area, that's what my solicitor & authorities have asked for.
    Also, most Borough councils keep logs on what road & when it was last checked over by the council.
    They will go off this to satisfy or not satisfy your claim.
    One council I gathered all the evidence needed, simply dismissed the claim saying the road had been checked as safe within the previous 12months & because of such, had no obligation to pay anything.

    Not sure I like this "claim for everything" culture. If the claims get too expensive for councils, farmers etc they will lobby against motorbikes or for reduced speed limits etc.

    Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire in my opinion have the worst condition b-roads in all of UK.

    double standards really when mcn for years have shown on their front page bikes pulling wheelies, videos of scraping knee's around corners and all on public roads🤔. I wonder how many riders have been influenced and have suffered injury or worse

    Stay out of trouble on the road..!! ride within your ability.. Plain and simple.

    if your going to ride and expect perfect road surface your naive it would be ideal if your taxes were spent appropriately on roads and infrastruture for maintenance but that is naive also nothing is ideal the danger exists because of negligence of road maintenance and negligence of other motorists and sometimes our own failure to travel at posted speed limits which is boring, rideing can be alot of fun but is dangerous for many reasons, some are out of our control, such as politicians and municipalities who tax citizens more and more but the money is not spent on or in the best interest of the citizen, we also must be more honest and say the roadway is not a track and we must share it unfortuneately with trucks, vans, cars, bicycles, and other motorcycles, wish we could all afford a track day on a consistent basis but that is seldom the case

    I got caught out by a patch of gravel while moving into a right-turn filter lane, lost the front wheel under braking - took it as a lesson, not a thought of making a claim against anyone.

    I always promote the FRONT camera AND if possible REAR recording camera for motorcyclists.. whenever, wherever. These days an absolute. 👍Too many idiots on the roads AND I will warn you all re country roads et The LOCALS who drive those roads are used to them.. they can suddenly appear from around the corner coming at you at speed.. 😗by the time they realize you are there..?

    Famers clearing mud off the road?🤭🤭🤭😂🤣. I haver never ever cone across any mud from tractors where the farmer has bothered to clear it up. They don’t seem to care what risk it poses any more than county highways departments give a stuff who gets killed or injured after hitting pot holes.

    You guys need to rethink your terrible philosophy regarding video frame rate. We arent living in the 90s any more. Film is digital theres no reason to not use the highest available frame rate. cinematic frame rate is garbage for action sports. makes your content relatively unwatchable which is a shame because it would be top notch otherwise.

    • @weed46
      @weed46 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      O like 60 FPs (144hz even better), but claiming MCN very well done videos are unwatchable… is a bit of a stretch

    DO invest your insurance with a reputable MOTORCYCLE insurance specialist. My girl thanks to a drunk driver ended up with her bike in the middle of a roundabout when the driver crashed into her, stationery ! Her insurers were the worst ever.. despite the indisputable evidence !! However my girls professional motorcycle insurers were brilliant.. it took almost THREE years to finally resolve the court case and when it went to court, her insurers were reprimanded AND added penalties/compensation for what they had done.. which substantially exceeded what might have been the original settlement et👍The driver at fault, her insurers demanded medical reports on a scale that was judged in the end to be farcical. My girl had PRIVATE MEDICAL insurance provided by her employers.. so the medical examinations and reports were done by professional consultants et and YET the 'others' insurers almost insulted the reputation of one of the consultants.. by insisting they were NOT qualified enough to make the claim re her health et injuries et ..😗 Uhh you don't want to know just how qualified that consultant was and why final judgement was delivered with an increased pay out, that took the contempt shown, into consideration. 😗In the UK, motorcyclists have for decades faced hostility and bias from law enforcement et FACT. IN short, most transport authorities, law enforcement et will not always give a favourable and sometimes ACCURATE report re an accident situation. WHY it is so important to LEARN what to do if you are caught up in an accident situation.👀 IF you learn the major rules of what to do, what to say and when to ie call an ambulance et (KEEP times, date et and other statements, reports, examination notes et ) it will come as a natural given response IF you end up in an accident situation. REMEMBER your mobile phone re PHOTOS, VOICE / VIDEO RECORDING et.
