I have this exact same truck, same color. I love it. Once my free service has expired I plan on doing this type of thing myself. thanks for posting this! There is also a Toyota metal filter housing, it's the Sequoia part #
A lot of filters come with a plastic insert to put into the filter housing after you’ve undone the 3/8ths cap and that allows it to drain the oil in the filter cartridge! In case someone doesn’t have that cool tool!
i notice that man ...that u have 2 options ....when buying oil filters only ...any difference in the two ?? can you still the one with plastic insert on top??
I ordered directly from Motivx website. I got the kit without the funnel and it was cheaper than amazon by $5. I also got another $4.50 discount because Honey found a code for me.
i have a 2019 honda, i took it to to the dealer to get the first oil change cause it came with the purchase of the vehicle, i recently did the 2nd oil change at 10K and it looks like the kid who did the first "FREE" oil change at the dealer nearly stripped the drain bolt (2 corners of the bolt looked rounded off). I was still able to get the bolt off using a 6 point socket, but i will need to get a new drain bolt...
Thanks for the video!! I have the exact same truck and plan to do all my maintenance myself. I'm kind of old school in thinking and believe 10,000 miles is a little too long for an oil change. I know you used 0W-20 but what do you think about going with 5W-30? The reason I ask is because this engine was originally specd for a 30 weight but due to Cafe standards they started running the 20W. I live in AZ and it get hots here as we're currently in the 110 degree range and was thinking that a 30W would do a little better with the heat. The manual gives a little leeway on what you can use.
i have the 2021 tundra and i have found to better control the oil 8 1/2 gts i just purchase the fomoto valve drain plug with the hose way too much force and splashing with the plug removed
Good video, thanks! I highly rec the ValvoMax oil drain plug. I've been putting them on my vehicles for several years. Makes changing oil quicker with less mess and reduces concern of over tightening, thread issues and crush washers. Never had any leak issues.
Nice video sir....I have the same truck and plan to change the oil at 3K on mine and then let Toyota do it again at 10K. I just want to get any metal shavings out of the new engine. Are you going to change your Differential fluids before Toyota's recommended change? Do you think its worth doing?
Holy Santa Clause shiz. I had no idea that the oil filter drain thing was two pieces that could be screwed down. No wonder I've been getting oil all over me every time I tried to use it!
Dealership screw up my Tacoma the drain plug loses and pop out after 3 days and my engines lock up so I have to replaced a new engine .... Piss me off big times.
the recommendation for the 2020 at 10,000 miles but I do every 5000 miles so every 5000 miles I do it myself and the other 5000 mile I send it to the dealership It is peace of mind plus since you can’t see what the dealer do I can’t trust that even though I check the oil after I leave the dealer but we are human we can make mistakes
Now why didn't Toyota put an access panel on the under-engine shield on the regular Tundra, so you don't have to remove that shield? The plastic filter covers do have a torque spec, it's 18.5 ft/lbs, but 20 is ok. We get them in for oil changes installed a lot tighter than that, and I've even had some where I went to remove the little metal cap, and the entire filter housing cover came off with the little cap... obviously we don't replace the little gasket under the cap, you can't remove it if it's that tight. When I reinstall the cap itself, I usually torque those to 10-12 ft/lbs. Yes, the aftermarket metal cover is a better unit over the plastic one. If your truck is a few years old, or over 50,000 miles, you should replace the plastic cover. Upgrading to the metal covers makes them the cover for the rest of the truck's life. As far as the capacity on these engines, it depends on the year of the truck which oil quantity it takes. All of those stated were oil capacities for this engine, but again it depends on what year it is as far as how much it takes. The 5.7L has been dropped for the newest trucks, and they now use a 3.3L turbo charged engine, and I believe they went back to a spin-on filter for them.
I would have that STP oil tested by a lab a 5000!!!! Last time I used it in my Tundra it was done at 4700 miles !! Additives were depleted !!! Use Pensoil Gas Truck has a monster TBN ! Will go 15000 miles
Thanks Jake!. Just did my '20 Pro for the first time. Followed your tutorial step by step. Appreciate you bro! Used Mobil 1
Anxiously waiting for the truck revival series to continue.

Dude. Same.
Makes me want to get the TRD Pro skid plate. having to take off the standard skid plate which does not have the oil filter access panel is a PIA...

Thanks for using our tools and the great tutorial.
Great video! I think the same way...dealerships are careless and you really never know what mechanic you’ll get...do it yourself!
Thanks for show all the details on the oil change and the tools.
You’re smart for doing your own oil change and maintenance. Nice video brother...👍👍👍

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Great looking kit form motivex.
I currently own a 2014 Super duty 6.7 diesel, and I'm seriously considering buying a 2020 Army Green Tundra.

Synthetic oil tend to be thinner anyhow - 5w-30 should be fine in synthetic.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
When are you coming back????
You still on here dude?! Love the content!
Thank you. Great video!
Make sure to lube the threads on oil filter housing with white grease. They can be very hard to remove without, most shade tree mechs over tighten..
Time for more videos it’s been a year
Do you have the part no for a metal engine oil filter housing for a 2014 Toyota Tundra with oil cooler and tow package. Great video!
I used the link of the description you put and mine came in but it's not even the same as the one you got
i have the 2021 tundra and i have found to better control the oil 8 1/2 gts i just purchase the fomoto valve drain plug with the hose
way too much force and splashing
with the plug removed

hey man do you know where i can get wheel bearing & hub for a 96’ chevy 2wd?
There is no upgrade metal parts for the 2020 tundra until june 26. No wrench ,, no housing for the filter. Have to wait.
Amazon says part does not fit 2020 tundra
Nicely done...

Where did you go bud?
Can you tell me why Amazon says it will not work on a 21 tundra? Mine is a tundra Pro also. Thanks.

Amazon sells Toyota OEM'S for around $5 a filter if you buy 5 (1/2 case) delivery free with prime...
I was going to call you out on your lack of PPE but you did so... protect your eyes!!!
Haha damn you, holdin me accountable and all that. I love it! Thanks brother!
Dealership screw up my Tacoma the drain plug loses and pop out after 3 days and my engines lock up so I have to replaced a new engine .... Piss me off big times.
How is this truck holding up and how many miles so far?
Just bought a 2020 tundra trd pro. Does anybody know where to get the oil adapter for the filter filter ? Want a metal tool not plastic
I have it linked in the description.

I bought this exact truck one year ago and the first dealership oil change I had done, they left the bottle of oil inside my hood and closed it
I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THAT STP FILTER WAS THE RIGHT FILTER, BUT JUST A DIFFERENT DESIGN.
Thanks

You don't make videos anymore?!
Do a diy tire rotation
What’s the oil change interval?
It says in the video. 10,000 miles with 0W-20 oil, and a little less if you use 5W-30.
I would have that STP oil tested by a lab a 5000!!!! Last time I used it in my Tundra it was done at 4700 miles !! Additives were depleted !!! Use Pensoil Gas Truck has a monster TBN ! Will go 15000 miles
Its 8.5 quarts.
Not to be confused with " How to change oil in RED Toyota Tundra "
Love my Tundra. But it’s the worst vehicle to change the oil on of all the cars and trucks I’ve owned.
you should try to change the oil on some of those new F150's its a mess.
Your like me I do my own work on cars
Correction not 10K it’s actually recommended every 5K.
Depending on what oil you use, correct. Manual states 2 different intervals for two accepted types of oil.
Is this guy still alive?
Yup I’m still kicking! Been very busy with the tree service so haven’t had time to upload new content, but will get back to it soon!
its not wrong filter itis TRD oil filter ....
You bought a Toyota and no more garage videos :( Hope you're doing good.
factory oil filter is only $5

Ok boomer
@@GeorgeZimmermen your generation is a bunch of cry babies LOL
