He played the key elements of the game intentionally...this is not just a gameplay but a gameplay trailer for the game

Maybe he’s alluding to him being sucked in the game (like petscop) he did say it was a “revival machine” and the machine was created for the devs dying son
The story telling in the video is fantastic.
Not only that, the camera also slowly gets closer to the TV while the room gets darker and darker.
It's rather incredible how this video not only replicates the 90's style in all the promo made for Catastrophe Crow, from the magazine ads to the logos, but also how accurate the impersonation of the "gaming youtuber" is
So this guy, lost his daughter, then took a game with him to go have a sleepover at Davie Jones locker, have a boys night out with the Grim Reaper, then move in with Satan

funny thing is that this is not a creepypasta video. It's actually part of an ARG, and the seller might be a character in it. The pasta setting is still really funny tho, as nowadays it's so obvious that there aren't actual people who would go out and sell whatever random strange shit they found in their attics/basements.

@@SunGodAtomes Alternative Reality Game. It's basically a big simulated storyline you need to follow by solving out puzzles that the game makers leave for you to find. It's like playing treasure hunt on the Internet, but on a much bigger scale and with a story attached to it, and the only "map" that you are given is pieces of riddles and the clues to solve them that are scattered all around the web, waiting for you to find them.

I hope people come back to this ARG and give it another look...I don't think anybody found out all there was to figure out...nobody has talked about the game in at least 8 months and it saddens me like you wouldn't believe. Honestly one of the best args ever, I love how it starts like a normal game review channel but becomes something way bigger when you find all the pieces of the puzzle
something wonderful about this vid is that it imitates the style of gaming history videos that are popular now adays, setting it apart from Petscop. It even mimes how many of them would do sudden jokes to keep the viewers attention. I'd love to see the materials like the magazine pages published somewhere to be read!

It even has the, "...Or, at least, that _was_ the end of the story. However, since beginning work on this video..." part that a lot of those videos do, too.
So much effort was put into this in all sorts of different mediums, its nuts.

Maybe the real catastrophe was the friends we made along the way
I just realized something. When the developer said "the player is gone" he was referring to his son. It's like at heart he was making this game for his son, and when he died he lost all the motivation to finish it, and the grief combined with the pressure to release the game drove him insane. I honestly find this story more sad than anything. It's very well done though.

actually, no. The creator of this game is manfred lorenz, he created this game for his daugther and other people, but suddenly he found his daugther dead after his daugther fell down the stairs. Manfreds daugther has been brought to the hospital, but sadly the doctors couldn't save her then manfreds got stressed and depressed, so he stole a computer from the office and bring his boat to the sea and drowned himself with the computer he stole.

I just found out something at the beginning of the game were it says ''He's not been home for days.''is about how the developer went missing.

Petscop is a classic that will be hard to top, but this has potential.
I come back to this video every now and then, even though the ARG has been "solved". I still think this is a masterclass example on how to do an ARG. Everything is SO neatly done, the setup, Adam's video, making other unknown lets play channels with Crow gameplay; everything feels natural and is set up so beautifully. Wish we can get more ARGs of this caliber and quality instead of generic trying too hard to be creepy ones.

I really hope that once the ARG is solved, he will release a full, **NOT CURSED** version of Catastrophe Crow. The game looks really fun!

what i genuinely find amazing about this video is that, atleast for the beggining, it is shot and edited EXACTLY like a review for an actual game, like the way he edits the swears, the graphics he shows, and even the music he uses, it PERFECTLY recreates a genuine yt channel to an impressive degree, very big props to Adam

This is so artfully made. Here from another vid about this one that recommended I watch this first - glad I did.
I mean this as a major compliment: the least convincing thing in the entire video is Crow's wall jump, and only because it wasn't a common mechanic at the time. The aesthetic production here is basically perfect, and I don't possess enough high-fives to adequately express how impressed I am with it.
If I remember right this was my first introduction to both crow 64 and your work so I was 100% just taking this all as fact and loving every second of it

I love the detail that one of the crow's wings is white, which allows for the player to easily see which direction they're facing, which was a real thing taken to consideration when designing characters in early 3d games like Crash Bandicoot(his gloves and light colored belly patch)

I don't know if she's quite dead as I feel like parts of the story seem to suggest that the developer somehow found a way to either keep her alive or bring her back, and it may have something to do with his "suicide". However, it may have been better for her to have stayed dead.

I am in love with how much work went into this.
i love that the tired tradition of cursed video game stories has been maturing lately. its gone from a bunch of edgelord kids wanting sonic to be gorey to people realizing that fake 3d virtual spaces resonate with us in a really particular way that can make for good horror, and that the tortured artist trope can be applied to game developers too.
Always been a fan of creepypasta and all that stuff, no matter how repetitive it became I just had a liking for this type of stuff. Really glad to see the amount of effort people are putting in to making these, it’s literally phenomenal.

You know what seals the deal for me? The modernized video editing. For example, when he is about to curse, he censors it to avoid being demonitized. Another thing, is the music. The music used parodies game channels, such as: SpaceHamster, PeanutButterGamer, and more. But one gripe I have, is that the voice audio in the gameplay portion is just a bit too quiet. I didn't wanna turn it up in fear for a jumpscare, but I had to turn it up after I saw the video just to hear his voice in the beginning. Other than that, I am completely immersed.
Now the real question is what happened to the arg it was made for?
Fun fact: the crow eyes is using the mario 64 textures eyes and some of the textures in the game is from sm64
