I have to honestly say this HAWK series has been the most enjoyable flight simulation content I've ever seen on TH-cam. I've been in the simming scene for a long time and I'm just completely mesmerized. If you are not a flight instructor already - you definitely should be one! The calm, clear and reassuring voice with these simple to follow but yet very comprehensive instructions make this an absolute joy to watch/listen! Can't wait for the next episodes!
I live in Holyhead which you would be familiar having no doubt served at RAF Valley. I too served in the military (army) and whilst carrying out training in North Wales had the privileged being a back seat passenger in a T1 Hawk. My pilot was an instructor who was testing out a trainee pilot from 19 Sqn. I can remember doing all kinds of air manoeuvres the g forces was unbelievable. When we came to land the other Hawk made it way off the runway, then the pilot said…”ok, taff let fly over your house and take so you can take some photos”. I then had to give him some reference points such as Anglesey Aluminium chimney stack, and the Holyhead breakwater to guide home over Newry beach where I lived. Never forgotten the experience and I still have a photo on the wall of me, the pilot (cannot remember his name) posing in full flight gear next to our Hawk after landing. Brilliant.
Absolutely Fantastic Tutorial! Can't believe I missed it! Super rewarding doing these in IFR conditions. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to seeing what you've been working on while I've been away!
Many thanks Chris. It's a long time since I did any instrument flying irl so I watched the second part as well! Now my MSFS is stable again, I look forward to practicing this, although I fear I'll need more leeway than +/- 100' ... ;). For future videos, I'm interested in just about anything in the Hawk that reflects what you actually taught in it. I especially enjoyed the Lake District video and would like more of that sort of mixed level nav stuff, including the planning.
I am totally impressed with how accurate your flying is in this Sim Hawk. I struggle with it still - but we've mentioned the trim shortcoming before. I think I'l get myself an extension for the Warthog stick and see if that helps.
Thank you so much for these videos, they are so facinating! Used to spend many hours at RAF Valley whilst holidaying on the island growing up, watching the T1s T2s and the Seakings Would it be possible to show us how to perform a PFL in the Hawk T1, Its quite something watching them come into land at such a height gliding down
Another excellent video Chris...will take me a while to get my head around this : ) That's a great livery, my favourite at the moment. Do you know of a table for the Hawk roll rate at given speeds? Many Thanks!
Ive actually made my own sort of circuit just South East of RAF valley. Its quite shot I’m not sure if its a real life circuit or not it seems like it could be.
Thanks for these videos. If you haven't, check out the C101 in DCS World. It's modeled very well with things like proper engine limitations, all the electrical and hydraulic systems etc. It also has "multicrew" so you could have a "student" in the front. Cheers!
@@cgaviator In DCS I use the virtual kneeboard. I can pull any sceenshot/image/pdf in it and even write on it using a drawboard. th-cam.com/video/vGaQtlFR6gI/w-d-xo.html

When I acted as Valley UTP in the 1980, I did loads of spins on airtests. I don't recall spins being anywhere near as oscillatory as the FS2020 model. Maybe my memories are dim. What do you think?

Fascinating stuff as usual. I don't seem to be able to find the approach plate on the link in the description though. The AD tab doesn't show any links. Am I doing something wrong or is it just not available?
@@cgaviator Thanks for your response. Ah, interesting. I tried your suggestions but got the same issue. But then I tried using Google Chrome instead of MS Edge and it shows the links! Odd that one works and the other doesn't given they're both based on the same codebase. But hey, if it works! 😁
Think I mentioned it briefly. Configured straight and level you need 87-89%. When you start decent just drop flap and lower the nose. Power stays the same 👍🏻
@@cgaviator Thanks for that so you use pitch only to control hight and speed. Many years ago i was a real world light singles and twins pilot and i think it was throttle for hight and stick for speed but as that's over 40 years ago i may have forgotten.
@@Lonsome1223 that is a good technique. Often taught. Depends on stage of approach. Glidepath is key, adjusting attitude to correct and power as secondary effect is the norm for jets I believe.
@@cgaviator Well someone has to look after the gin cabinet in rear seat. Although for my sins I probably got lots more fast jet hours than most techies. After 3yrs at Valley in the late '80s. The did BZN before doing 3yrs with the Reds at Scampton. I flew back seat Circus for a display season. My jockey gave me some basic instruction while we in transit between venues. Probably got 100hrs or so back seat time. I got to the point of keeping a jet straight and level and shallow turns.
@@cgaviator At least for your excellent TH-cam videos, I can say I've done low level for real, unlike most subscribers. Can't say for certain, but probably done the Mach loop. I've certainly done Lake Windermere as per one of your uploads

Great video and thanks for the links to all the documents. Nothing like 1,000 plus pages of reading for a "game" 🙂
lol, add your own level of immersion! 😁
Clear, concise and enjoyable to watch. Audio is very clear.
Thanks! I even dabbled with the audio EQ! Think I’ve moved from absolute newb to Novice level in the audio department! 😆
Excellent. These videos really make flying the Hawk (and the Grob) a more enjoyable experience.
Thank you ever so much for keep posting videos on this beautiful bird!
Can’t resist, it’s such a pleasure to fly! 👍🏻
Tutorials always welcome! Thanks!
Great to hear!
Yes.....exactly. My brain hurts now. I need to run this a bit slower now. Thanks and I'll test you on this next time.......Great work as usual.
Haha! I try and keep my videos short and full of info. I’m aware I probably went a little fast this time! Good luck!
Thanks again for another information packed tutorial.

No table I can think of. There’s probably a max deflection roll rate written somewhere.
Hopefully we see some decimal places on the DME soon, maybe it's a MSFS limitation?
Not sure. But bug submitted 👍🏻
Available now in v0.1.4.

Superb videos ! I Can hardly control the Hawk with my joystick settings, Can you share you calibration parameters in MSFS please ? :)
Default! Haven’t changed a thing! I will add that I’m using an extended Warhog joystick and MFG rudder pedals. Allows for precise input

The spin dynamics are completely false due to the MSFS interpretation. It doesn’t simulate swept wings at all well. Shame!

I have but sadly I don’t have photoshop nor do I have any idea how to use GIMP! You have any luck?

Post editing I’m afraid. My setup has 3 screens so I keep the chart on one of those. You could also use your phone/iPad.

Warthog HOTAS with 10cm extension tube
