"Having flown around this area a lot during my time in the RAF I decided to take the AV-8B Harrier for a quick tour of Lincolnshire. I'll talk through lots of local landmarks as well as a fly through of RAF Coningsby and Holbeach Air Weapons Range. To finish I fly an SRA and explore the VTOL characteristics of this aircraft model. It also includes a method of making the pitch and roll in the hover more sensitive and therefore more challenging. I hope you enjoy!"

I would like the set up to be featured as well, its not boring. Configuring the harrier from cold dark is what I was here for tbh as well as things like this water switch your using when landing etc. Its a unique machine and it deserves adding the mundane bits too Chris. Apologies if you have a vid dedicated to this, still looking through your vids.

Me too, I grew up in Sutton Bridge, spent many, many summers at Raf Holbeach, where you got to see everything, Gr5 ( as it was back in 1989) Jags, Tornado, F111, A10, Amx etc. I have just found some pictures of A10 strafing the targets at Raf Holbeach I took circ 89. Also the "plug", which we called Rabbit island was a test structure as part of a scheme to create a barrier across the wash to generate hydro electrical power, never carried through obviously. At low tide you could walk to it, which was super dangerous. Me and a group of teenage friends spent the night on it once, if my parents had ever found out they would have killed me!!!

It ranges from the technical (getting Tobii setup properly so it doesn't jump all over the place and is smooth) to the practical (eg. stalling and flat spinning in a Fw-190 because I am pulling too hard trying to get lead). I have decided to concentrate my efforts on the Warthog in DCS and try to learn it properly and methodically in the hope that understanding the avionics and techniques will carry over to other planes.

DCS has some very very nice rotary experiences on offer - the Huey is a bit old & does a few things helicopters can't really do, and the Gazelle does a *lot* of things a Gazelle can't, but the Mi-8 ( barring going into VRS if you sneeze ) is one of the best sim helicopters out there, and the other newer attack helicopters are nearly as great and as polished an experience - the Hind feels heavy and fast & has the typical wierd mid-late cold war equipment that needs to be worked at - the Apache is a bit more of a modern experience. I'd still get the Huey anyway and even the Gazelle if you're partial to Gazelles.
You don't even really have to fight to have a good flight either, they're all involving just going from A to B. Some are fully multiplayer multi-crew too. Oh, and you can sling-load. Sim sling-loading is quite the experience...

One thing I like doing in the Razbam Harrier is a continuous arc descent to touchdown ( on a pad, just to make it look cooler! ) just as I finally kill forward movement, without any pause to hover anywhere... super hard to pull off smoothly, only think I've done it properly 3 times or so. I can't resist short landing it with a lot of nozzle, though!

Starting to transition on final so by the time you're crossing the threshold your altitude is mostly controlled with the throttle, but you have enough aero for attitude gives some super short landing rolls & a good feeling. No idea what the real short field landing technique is but that at least feels like you have a lot of options.
