  • Ahead of their time. Oil-free self-lubricating. Revolutionary. These are but a few of the terms and catch phrases that have been used over the course of half a century to advertise, sell, and describe Remington’s Nylon series .22 LR rimfires. With prices from $250 to over $2,000 today, here’s what you’ll want to know when collecting these futuristic rimfires.

The good ol' days when you could get your underwear, guns, a radio and ground beef all in the same spot.

I inherited a Seneca Green that my Grandad bought in 1959. With a scope, I put a hole in a dime at 10 yards. Still have both.

In 1973 and 74 we had a rifle club at our high school. We would go out to our cars, or locker if you rode the bus, and bring our guns down to the basement where there was a full feature shooting range. One girl had a Nylon 66 and I was really impressed. She never had a failure ever. I wanted one so bad! Another great Kristin video to start my day!

nowadays, even mentioning this idea to anyone at a school, everyone would go crazy!

I have the mohawk brown 66 I carried back in high school the fall of 1974. This rifle just keeps shooting. Back in 1964 my dad taught me to shoot on a Seneca green model. As a boy I idolized these rifles.

I still own my Remington Nylon 66 mag fed rifle. It was a Christmas present from my father at age 14 (I’m 62 now). Brown wood grain. My brother in law still has his tube fed Mohawk.

I have a green Apache 77 with nylon stock and it is clip fed (magazine) with 10 rounds each. I ordered 5 more along with sling swivels for the order form included with the rifle when I bought it new in 1978 at K-Mart. I think it cost $79.99. I taped two mags together so I can shoot 60 times without reloading a mag. I call it my mini- M-16. Cheers from eastern TN

Had to laugh, did the same with my mags. Got mine in 1972, still shoots as good today.

Tom Frye used four Nylon 66 rifles and more than 100,000 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet .22 LR ammunition. Several newspapers and sporting magazines circulated articles about Frye's endurance shooting record, some calling him "the greatest shot with a .22 who ever lived."

I bought a brown one new in 1986. So accurate. I do believe, if TSHF, this maybe be the one to grab running out the door. Never a jam or miss fire and the 22lr ammo is light. You could carry a thousand rounds. Loved this video with the exception, at the end, She referred to it as a plastic gun. It's not plastic, It's nylon.

I have one exactly like you have here. I inherited it from my dad, I had no idea they were worth so much money! I took it out shooting the other day, it still shoots perfectly! It's not going anywhere except to the range with me!

Parent bought me the Apache Black Nylon for Christmas in the 60`s. My brother West Point pistol coach Sgt. Robert recommended the rifle, only used it a few times and doesn`t have a scratch on it. Oh Hell, I`m 70y/o now.

My Dad got me one as my first gun. I was 15. When I first saw it, I wasnted one so bad. Man! I love that old thing! Killed so many critters on the farm and around the fruited plain. I'm deadly with it.

Fun light and reliable. Never had any feed problem. The gas system or spring I forget did have to be fixed and they did it perfectly. $99. Could have went to Kmart and got a 10/22 for 139. I'm glad I didn't. Those are a slippery slope with all the accessories.

These should still be here today but people in Ilion not so smart and look where they are today? The loading from the buttstock is perfect for safety as to keep the muzzle pointed safely. I have two and from Herkimer county.

Great guns! Only downside are the clip fed versions. The clips are also nylon, but wear out quickly.
